NLEX Corporation is a proud supporter of events that promote sustainable tourism, such as the Central Luzon Sustainable Tourism Summit held in Subic Bay Exhibition & Convention Center. By partnering with SBMA and DOT III, NLEX aims to contribute to the region's efforts to achieve a more sustainable and resilient tourism industry.
During the summit, we learned about the efforts by many tourism-related organizations to help reduce their carbon footprints. The highlight of the summit is the declaration of SBMA to become the first Carbon Neutral Ecozone in the Philippines.
The summit also allowed the participants to join several eco-tours. In our case, we joined the tour to Pamulaklakin Forest Trail where we discovered the diverse flora and fauna, centuries-old trees, and learned the essentials of jungle survival skills through a hands-on demonstration by the Aeta community. We also visited Dela Llana Farm, a leader in sustainable farming, utilizing innovative recycling practices and a solar-powered water source to minimize its environmental impact, and the Pinatubo Brewery, where craft beer meets sustainability with its significant use of solar energy.
We also stayed a Le Charme Suites, a boutique hotel that caters to the needs of sports enthusiasts, and where they ban the use of single use plastic bottles. We also got to try Teppan 101, where we got to taste the best teppanyaki in this part of Northern Luzon.
