As a longtime disabled, autistic, and immunocompromised viewer of your channel who is also a writer, I really appreciate you masking on the train and plane! I’m still very COVID conscious myself and haven’t traveled anywhere since 2019. Also, airlines are notorious for breaking wheelchairs and other mobility aids, but that’s another story! 🫠 I love this travel/writing vlog! I was in Tokyo in 2000 as a young teen and I loved it so much! It was so cool! I lived in Poland and Canada as a teenager (I’m from California) and it always influenced/inspired my writing. I love seeing this! Thank you for sharing! 💜
I still mask in all public places and honestly it's frustrating that very few people do anymore, especially in high volume places like airports :/ Like do people want to be sick while on vacation?? I definitely don't want to spread illness among communities I visit, plus my asthmatic lungs do notttt want covid (or anything else). So glad you enjoyed the vlog, it was so fun to film!
2:47 The bowl on the top left and the bowl on the bottom right ... I'm not even sure what's in them but I want whatever is in them. Writing on a trip doesn't always work, but it's usually very different. When you're not at home, there's outside-the-box stimulation regardless of whether you're looking out the window at it. 10:56 Snazzy. 12:33 So THAT'S where Capers got their truffle frites formula! They are so busted!! Congrats on the productivity, Shaelin.
4:50 I have the same experiences but on 2-3 hour long flights. I think it's cause I'm in that liminal space where I'm just in between, neither here nor there yet. My writing tends to be like that wee woo om nom, (I don't know how to describe it lol) when I'm in such state of mind.....
@@gettingthere007 I prefer to write on a laptop because I have abysmal handwriting and write quite non linearly (always jumping around the paragraph while I write) which is quite hard in a notebook

Bruh! Writing a story while traveling?! Infusing the story with the soul of the place and images around you?! Mother truckin' dope idea right there.
and always having memories of your travels associated with the writing process...it's top tier
I’m glad you had fun in Japan! I live in Tokyo and I always write on public transport, too. It’s very easy to focus!
Writing fantasy books AND wandering Japan and Vietnam?!? Why am I only now just discovering your channel! Subscribed!
love the button up shirt + round gold earrings combo!

I loved seeing all the different places you visite
I find there's something about in-between spaces that is very conducive to writing. I get a ton done on planes and trains
@@darthnaylor sooo true
They're portals, if you think about it

A 2-3 hour flight is god tier writing time I swear. Short enough to engage Focus Mode but not long enough to engage Suffering
Day off in Kyoto
I want to go to Japan sooooooooooo bad 🥰🥰😪😪👍👊
Firstttt
Foouuuuuurth??!?! Somehow?!??

I just applied for a US Passport. Vietnam, Japan, and China are places I’d like to visit.
You don’t ever write in a notebook?

@@ShaelinWrites you don't have to write on a notebook page in a linear fashion either, just saying
@@writethepath8354 I’ve tried it before and it just doesn’t work for me, but you do you!
