Simon's numerous channels just so happens to be the History/Discovery Channels we've always wished for.

CuriosityStream is literally that. It was created by the man who started the discovery channel but later has it bought out from under him and messed up. Remember when it really was a channel worth watching. Well he's sunk his cash in to CuriosityStream so he could finally make the actual channel he always wanted.
This channel is a product of slave labor. I.e. Danny locked up in the basement. #FREEDANNY

An interesting note about masamune. Out of the handful of his swords that still exist all but one of them reside in Japan. The one that doesn't is actually in my home town of Independence MO in the Harry S Truman presidential library. It was given to Truman by the emperor of Japan at the end of world war 2. Its a beautiful sword but is only rarely displayed due to a robbery in the 70s where a bunch of antique swords were taken so now it's only displayed on special occasions

Simon is simply a presentor, not even close to being an historian. You should take some time to actually watch some of those.
@@michaeldunham3385you missed something here bud, because I definitely subscribe and enjoy all of Simon's videos. A history teacher also presents information that was already written, so your fallacy doesn't really add up.
Plus this man has an amazing presentation of information that allows substantially more information saturation to it's viewers than if someone were to simply make a video off of text books.
I'm sorry you don't see that correlation, but like @Plinkitee said, many of us wish we had a prof that presented this way. And if you think all he's doing is "reading from a script", you are sorely, sorely mistaken.

I keep track on every Business Blaze video if ETA is still in the bottom left corner of the screen . As of the last BB video , ETA is still barely visible . So at least he hasn't been banished to the basement w Danny and Sam ... Allegedly of course .

I'm absolutely fascinated by lost treasures. The Amber Room, the Polish crown jewels, Jean Lafittes treasure and the art, sculptures, gold taken from Constantinople taken during the great plundering by the 4th Crusade.
That's a few of the ones I'd love to see found.
i also remember this story about this massive diamond in France that disappeared but by the records kept of it before its disappearance they were able to find one part of it which was the hope diamond

Anyone on any of simons channels defiantly used to be one of the kids who would watch history/military and discovery Channel.
Knowledge is power and Simon has a good little chunk of the world powerful.
I have an idea for a new show, it’s based on Biographics but it covers fictional characters like Sherlock Homes, Bruce Wayne ie Batman, Huckleberry Finn, Dracula, Dr. Frankenstein and thousands of others. The characters are endless and many are mistaken to be true people, you could do multiple characters or a single character in a show. The idea came to me when I saw the episode you did on Sherlock Holmes, it was great and left me wanting more.
That's a good idea. You'd never run out of subject matter, that's for sure.
He does some for April Fools. But yeah, it would be interesting. Maybe he could do it in this channel?

For the record, those Japanese names start with a "I", not an "L".

His pronunciation of "Masamune" is also staggeringly unintuitive.
I blame whomever though that writing capital i identically to lowercase L and to the Roman numeral 1 was a good idea. Allegedly.

There's a sIight height difference between them, but you'd be hard pressed to notice if you're seeing them independent of each other, which is the case in "Ieyasu". "lt means you have an idiot making your fonts" is also a ridicuIous thing to say. Sans serif fonts are commonpIace, neither he, you nor l are responsibIe for that.
Case in point: I swapped them around in what you just read. Anyway, the most egregious thing here is Simon assuming the first letter of a name was lower case.
He makes very little effort to prounounce names in any way other than anglized .. and with the number of videos he makes, he doesn't have the time to do a cursoury google search... and honestly, france is right across the channel and he can't even make the effort to pronouce the french names correctly lol

Simon, a capital "i" is not a lower case "L". I'm referring to the the names Tokugawa Ieyasu (not Leyasu) and Tokugawa Iemasa (not Lemasa). Since we watch this channel for the info it brings, the info might as well be correct. Even for blind people.

I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. Unfortunately many common fonts don't effectivly differentiate between L and I which makes this a pretty easy mistake to make.

I was surrised that it wasn't included.
If you use a font that distinguishes between capital "i" and lowercase "L" you might have a better shot at Japanese names.
Or if he realises that names are capitalised anyway so a lower case L should never be assumed at the start of a name.

regarding the Romanian treasure..more important then the gold was all the official papers such as property titles that were transferred alongside the gold-which was more then likely sold by the soviets- and it took decades to reconstitues them

Have you considered doing the Saint Laurence River locks? Perhaps a mega project? It is one of the most important waterways in North America and very under valued historically.
One theory I reamember reading about the Peking Man fossils was that the Marines somehow got them to the United States. They then ended up in the Camp Pendelton area. The story almost seems to have an Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark quality in that they were stored in some obscure part of the camp. There's a short article in the Marine Footlocker from around 1975 and it was titled California Clue to Peking Man.

Another lost treasure( but now almost forgotten):
The *Croes Naid* ( sometimes called the *cross of Gneth* ) was a golden Celtic cross estimated to be a few feet in height ,in its trunk,it contained an alleged piece of 'the true cross'. This venerated cross had been in the posession of the Welsh Princes for centuries - this changed however with the conquest of Wales in 1283, the cross was looted by Edward the 1st -then put on display at the chapel of St George at Windsor.In 1552 it was melted down - it weighed 23 lbs . The only contemporary image of the cross survives as a wooden carving in a ceiling boss at the chapel .
This was a lost treasure of Wales.....

We used to have a family friend who was a billionaire and he told me a few stories about art and jewelry collectors who had pieces of history that were said to be missing but the richest people knew where things were.

Do you think you could do a video on the Nevada-Class Battleships as both ships had interesting careers. One of which USS Nevada tried to escape Pearl Harbor, fought at D-Day , Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, and survived 2 atomic bombs. I would say that's a mega ship. Awesome video. Hope more videos are coming.

My lost treasure. I had a necklace that was a rifle shell. I had a bad habit of twirling it around my finger and it flying off. One day in my bedroom I did it. I heard it hit the wall but didnt immediately look for it as i was comfortable and didnt see what wall it hit as i was on my phone. It has been 3 years and i still never found it. My room has changed since then and me and my mom spent a while looking for it. We still havent found it.
