Andy & Joe, when I saw that thick glob of wipes, poo & no telling what else, I thought I would heave-ho as I had just had a late lunch. But then Andy began singing & laughing & I felt all better. No shorts Joe? Thanks for an enthralling video guys!
I spent 10 years as a mechanical design engineer designing jetting units and gully suckers and the like (including some housings for the very early (circa 1975) inspection cameras). This is the first time I've ever seen any of that kit being used.

People sometimes put washing up liquid down the toilet if it blocked - it apparently can assist in unblocking / maybe this ??

What amazes me is how shallow the sewers are there. No freezing issues like all of Canada.
One bill I never complain about paying is my water rates. After some of the "morning after the night before" things I've sent down their pipework over the years I think they deserve every penny LOL!

This is the first time you've slowed down your speech long enough for us in the states to understand what you are saying along with being close enough to the microphone to hear all of your talk. THANK YOU so very much. Your knowledge is so important to us about sewers that us Amercan's that can't see what is taking place under ground in our closed off sewer systems. Very few public access outlets except by hiring professional plumbers.

Defo worth a follow up video to see the repair being done by Jem if that goes forward. Bit dodgy having the existing pipes sticking out into the main channel like that and some displacement but hopefully it gets all sorted soon! Good work as usual jetter 2 and 3! Cheers 🍻

Hi guys - that is about the worse designed manhole I have ever seen, pipes coming in above the channel is a recipe for a blockage instead of at channel level and steered downstream by suitable slippers. Wonder where the building inspector was when that got laid down. Stay clean and safe guys and have a good Christmas.

I worked for a septic company and went out with the JetVac truck on several jobs. My first thought on how those pipes are coming into the sewer main was "That's just asking for clog after clog"

@@badandy102 Can you explain more? That's how the collecting well at my house were built, the only difference is that where I live raw sewer are collected to septic tank before going to main. So under normal situation solids should not pass the collecting tanks..
I was thinking the same thing and I’m not a plumber I’m a landscaper! Someone was out to lunch when they set this. Common sense!

Just watched it again and another thought comes to mind - if you want to avoid getting splashed then try putting a coloured heat shrink or tape about 4-6 feet from the nozzle so you can tell how far to pull back.

These "gully" transition drains in the UK are crazy !!!!!!!!!!!! The are just RIPE (no pun) for a clog with a completely obstructed flow design, even when working properly ! Who thought these were a good idea?
Here in the US, the pipe exists the house and drains directly into the city sewer pipe, no open transition or gully.
Would it not be a good idea to hook the wet wipes out of there rather than further into the system?

You could put some disinfectant directly in the water tank in the van so the Jeter sprays disinfectant the whole time. Just a thought.

See the guys adding a fluid to the water, I a guessing it’s a strong cleanser. Having just found this series of videos (I live in Ontario, Canada and have not seen anything like this. While blockages must occur in our sewers, they are well below ground level.
