  • In 2002, a small eruption of Stromboli Volcano sent several large
landslides down its slopes. These in turn, made damaging tsunami
waves that swept the coasts of the Island. This is a computer simulation of those events.

It might be his own program. The guy who makes these videos is a pretty well published geophysicist from UCSC and from what I've read these videos are demonstrations of an alternative method of modeling tsunamis as they form. Really cool stuff.

It's about some days I started following your videos, gave a look to your website (tremendously interesting and accurate) like your videos. But if I can express my idea you should create 1080p resolution videos and improve your editing video skills some times texts and immage+text overlaps, and sone Frames need more displaying-time to be read and understood

Amazing to watch. Not sure if you could do one on the New Zealand massive underwater landslide (known as the Ruatōria Giant Avalanche) that occurred off the east coast of the North Island 135,000-155,000 years ago. Part of the continental shelf collapsed and slid down to the Hikurangi Trough, on the deep sea floor. Looks like exactly down your alley! :) Andrew from Wgtn NZ.

Okay i get why that guy in Pinocchio is named Stromboli, but what about that large calzone like thing you can get at some pizzarias and Italian restaurants that’s also called a Stromboli?
Also I really enjoy your videos! It really makes me want to go into Volcanology and Seismology.

Stromboli is never inactive. It does and has always thrown red hot material up in the air.
This is why it has been called The Lighthouse of the Mediterranean since classical times.
Larger eruptions are intermittent, which is hardly unusual.
What is unusual is the constant ejecting of glowing red material. If it is dark, people can always see where the island is.
