    Lyrics: I. Four Point Six
    Archaean horizon
    The first sunrise
    On a pristine Gaea
    Opus perfectum
    Somewhere there, us sleeping
"After sleeping through a hundred million centuries
We have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet
Sparkling with color, bountiful with life
Within decades we must close our eyes again
Isn't it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief
Time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe
And how we have come to wake up in it?"
    II. Life
    The cosmic law of gravity
Pulled the newborns around a fire
    A careless, cold infinity
    In every vast direction
Lonely farer in the Goldilocks zone
She has a tale to tell
From the stellar nursery into a carbon feast
    Enter LUCA
    The tapestry of chemistry
There's a writing in the garden
Leading us to the mother of all
    We are one
    We are the universe
Forbears of what will be scions of the Devonian sea
Aeons pass, writing the tale of us all
    A day-to-day new opening
For the greatest show on Earth
    Ion channels
Welcoming the outside world to the stuff of stars
Bedding the tree of a biological holy
    Enter life
    The tapestry of chemistry
There's a writing in the garden
Leading us to the mother of all
    We are one
    We are the universe
Forbears of what will be scions of the Devonian sea
Aeons pass, writing the tale of us all
    A day-to-day new opening
For the greatest show on Earth
We are here to care for the garden
The wonder of, birth of, every form most beautiful
    Every form most beautiful
    We are one
    We are the universe
Forbears of what will be scions of the Devonian sea
Aeons pass, writing the tale of us all
    A day-to-day new opening
For the greatest show on Earth
    III. The Toolmaker
    After a billion years
    The show is still here
Not a single one of your fathers died young
The handy travelers out of Africa
    Little Lucy of the Afar
    Gave birth to fantasy
    To idolatry
    To self destructive weaponry
    Enter the god of gaps
    Deep within the past
    Atavistic dread of the hunted
    Enter Ionia
    The cradle of thought
    The architecture of understanding
The human lust to feel so exceptional
    To rule the Earth
    Hunger for shiny rocks
    For giant mushroom clouds
The will to do just as you'd be done by
    Enter history
    The grand finale
    Enter ratkind
Man, he took his time in the sun
    Had a dream to understand
    A single grain of sand
    He gave birth to poetry
But one day'll cease to be
Greet the last light of the library
Man, he took his time in the sun
    Had a dream to understand
    A single grain of sand
    He gave birth to poetry
But one day'll cease to be
Greet the last light of the library
Man, he took his time in the sun
    Had a dream to understand
    A single grain of sand
    He gave birth to poetry
But one day'll cease to be
Greet the last light of the library
    We were here!
    We were here!
    We were here!
    We were here!
    IV. The Understanding
"We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?"
"There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one. And that whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved."
    V. Sea-Worn Driftwood
    (Instrumental)

I thought Mr. Holopainen composed his masterpiece suite when I heard Ghost Love Score. Then the Poet and the Pendulum came out, and I thought that was it. Then Song of Myself came out, and it was even better. Nothing could top that, I thought again, until I heard this one. Goddammit Tuomas...

    • @MFYouTube683

El Rojales I’m a little torn after reading this. I think Anette was a brave choice and DPP was one hell of a record (as was Once, outstanding). I like all vocalists who sang with this band so far, Floor is doing a fantastic job, and she has incredible versatility in style and texture. But in my honest opinion, speaking from a strictly musical perspective (melody, harmony, rhythm, overall complexion of composition etc) this record -while it’s obviously good music - pales in comparison to the strong melodies, raw power and emotion-driven artistic perfection Thuomas showed off -particularly on Once and DPP. Imaginaerum was the first album I thought didn’t continue the positive trend he set with the 2 albums before and in earlier gems like ‘Beauty of the Beast’, ‘Wishmaster’ or ‘Dead Boy’s Poem.’ I obviously listen to EFMB and Imaginaerum anyway, but it’s not QUITE the same experience. Opinions probably differ, but hopefully, the next one will be as extraordinary and mind-blowing as Century Child / Once/ DPP. I’ve noticed NW touring the globe extensively since Nemo catapulted them to superstardom, and I can’t help but allow a nagging occasional thought, that Thuomas has invested more time, energy and effort into developping the pre-Imaginaerum material, and I don’t mean this in a condescending or disrespectful way, I listen to the new albums as I said. Still, ‘The Siren’ or ‘Poet and the Pendulum’ are prime examples for detailed, sophisticated choir and orchestra scores and incredible performances by all band members (and guest stars, I mean holy f*** that violin solo in Siren ... I BEG YOU! Sickest! sh*t! ever by a non-band-member on all of their records).
I find the melodies of EFMB are simpler, less unique, probably more accessible to the average listener, but increasingly repetitive and more three-chord-pop harmonically and melodically. ‘Amaranth’ and ‘Slow, Love, Slow’ are a wonderful ‘before’-example for the quality I miss in harmony and melody. Also, the bagpipe themes start to sound regurgitated and the songs lack a little diversity in rhythm, style and structure. Hoping for a strong new album release soon, with daring shit like the bridge of ‘Stargazers’ or ‘Fantasmic’. That stuff IS EROTIC to listen to. And no, I don’t care which singer anyone prefers, Thuomas has proven that he can write wonderful music for each of their voices and Floor is fantastic live for both current and older material.

@@MFRUclips683 Yea I agree with 90% of what you said. This album although nice to listen to, is pretty uninspiring musically. Simpler but also groovier I have to admit. It feels like a retread from previous albums and ideas and besides this song, they never pushed any boundaries. This was a very safe, middle of the road album. Imaginareum flips flops with Once for my top spot and I didn't even care for Anette (though she sings beautifully on that album) but the music is in par. It's heavy, punchy and experimental. That album was a definite creative high for them as far as I'm concerned. This just feels very lazy and I can't describe how let down I was when I listened to this album the first time. Though it has grown on me to a degree.

piece is like a song for all the 3 singers of nightwish or 3 different Eras of Nightwish. The beginning really freaking sounds like it is Tarja singing or at least i get a very strong vibes of that Opera Era, then comes the epic melody of the Dark Passion plays Anettes era with the pipes and all and then finally the queen of all Floor’s Era. I dont know why i get these vibes. Of course the whole musical and instrumental piece itself is a wonderful piece of art as well :)
