Yes .very true. She had severe depression and never got overcame it. You have to want to help yourself to get better. If not no treatment s or any therapy will work. We have to tell ourselves we can make it in life , be positive with oneself. Or else it will just kill us.
It shocks me every time I watch this video - and I do feel qualified to say this as a recovering anorexic - how much insight Lena's cousins had into her eating disorder and eating disorders, in general. It's something you rarely see among laypeople (and even many professionals). They obviously loved her very much and tried desperately to understand her.
3 1/2 stone is about 22kg, the weight of a very small child. Its a shame as Lena did have talent & was a very sweet person too. Her manager gave me the creeps, very cold indeed!
Just on natural vocal talent and ability she is the #1 female singer Scotland has ever produced, but you won't read that anywhere because she'd faded completely from view when she died and did not leave a great body of work. That is a tragedy in itself.
Peggy Claude-Pierre's book is very insightful, talks from experience. Research too is slowly catching up to show that prime cause is not external factor(s). And the negative feelings and depression are symptoms and not causes for this illness.
IMO, people wo put little children on telivision and the stage are selfish. How many child acot, actresses, singers are miserable adults where a large percentage use drugs or are anorexic,bulemic. Too many ,unwarrented youg deaths. For the sake of entertainment? Not worth it. I don't care how much talent a youngsters has. Nurture their brains with education and don't exploite these precious gifts of our Savior. Rest in pease to all the deaths of our young,who were ,are gone too soon.
such a shame Lena had issues years of this disease that destroyed her, had a sister who suffered with anorexia she was lucky she had a strong husband its a disease that is powerful it took its toll on her . took action late what a shame so much involved with this issue not just the eating issue mental also a vicious cycle sad a great voice very beautiful

Her dad wasn't her manager. That was that other woman. Her dad didn't really know what to do for the best - nobody had any answers. His daughter was given this amazing opportunity - what would you have done? Don't forget, it ALL started with just one appearance on a TV show.

That’s when body image and mental health issues kicked in. She wanted to work and was happy working but the underlying psychological problems presented as anorexia. No one to blame

I don't understand why her stay at Montreaux was so short - three weeks(!) when I understood it to be a mandatory year. No rehab program will change anything in that time! Perhaps she couldn't afford it, with all her money in Solomon's bra.
