I watched first 30 sec of the review and you sold me; so I get it and I'm reading it, or well I'll end it today or tomorrow. I'm in love with the flow, the words crawling under my skin.
    Tnx for the sharing.

The Keep sounds right up my alley. Watching your review makes me feel like I should've read it by now! Good job!

I'm sold. I read A Visit From the Goon Squad more than a year ago and I've been wanting to read more from her ever since.

Hi Mattia - I'm half way through The Keep. Picked it up because of your review. I think the scene between Davis and Ray, when Ray discovers that his manuscript is missing, is positively luminous. I have never read a single scene that had me rivited and almost levitating out of my chair! As I read I have a melancholy sense that with each page I'm nearing the end and will never have a chance to read this for the first time again with the same sense of astonishment that I'm experiencing now. Yes, all the characters are wired, edgy and dangerous but I'm hoping that they will find a way to redeem the broken pieces of their lives. Each one deserves happiness and safety.

This sounds right up my alley! I've read A Visit From the Goon Squad last year on your recommendation and really loved it. I've been unsure which of her books to read next.
BTW I've had the same issue with House of Leaves, but funnily enough I was much more interested in Truant's story. I only just handed in a paper on the minotaur in HoL, partly inspired by one of your videos, so thank you for that!
Personally, I love "gimmicky" metafiction like Borges or BS Johnson.. Still have to pick up Calvino.

Amazing review; I will definitely pick up this book! If you get the chance, a fascinating book to review is “Of Human Bondage” by W. Somerset Maugham. I still think about his masterpiece after all this time.

You should read Richard Russo if you haven't already. Nobody's Fool is my favourite but he won the Pulitzer for Empire Falls, also great.

Can you please make a video on how to write essays pertaining to literature at the undergraduate level. I'm a student from India. Any guidance is welcome :)

I haven't read it yet, but just added it to my reading list. How do you keep up with your reading list, Bookchemist? Mine is growing so fast that I just can't keep up with it, and yet I feel a continual need to be constantly adding more texts to it.

I do always add more books to it, but try to think very critically before I acquire them - do I actually want to read them? Would I read them over, say, rereading a favorite novel?
(One thing I've been doing recently is not buying any new book until I finish all the unread ones on my shelves. Turns out I'd accumulated quite a backlog!)

It's not that great...sorry...I just read it...PLEASE stop calling this a horror novel...its not. I read a lot of horror novels and this isn't one. Also the parallel story lines compete with each other..she should have developed each story separately and created 2 novels...
