US military training is no joke. My brother went in stick thin and came out with way more mass, muscular and ripped.

I wouldn’t think that these American soldiers are representative of the typical soldier. They are so impressive!

That video isn't indicative of how the avg troop exercises. That was a compelation of more "trick" or demonstration exercises, aimed at showing off rather than fitness endurance, or body building.

They're in for a rude awakening if they think this is normal PT for the Army lol.

our son went in at 32 and pudgy. A year later, slender and ripped. Not all military work out like this. But imagine the tricky places a person could be in, only able to use one arm out in the field? Perhaps carry a wounded soldier with the other. I don't know, never been in the military but some of it is pretty darned impressive.

As an exercise physiologist I am impressed by the trainers knowledge base. He knows his stuff and I bet is a great personal trainer for every fitness level. Well done

When he said “just the burpee is enough for me”. I relate so much.

I want to explain this from my perspective. The us soldiers do not look like that going in. It takes years for them to get that way. And only the ones who choose to stay active military. The rest get fat. Or don't exercise enough. Or they just do their regular exercises and no more. The active one know what is required of them and what they use and work on those areas. Even though they are big and muscular they still do cardio and can run fast. When most of our guys go in after high school they are either skin and bones or really far. The years of exercise shape them into that.

It’s true that there are two different types of weight training. You’ve got your gym bros who only care about how much weight they can lift etc and they’ll get the big muscles but they have no stamina. They lift the super heavy weight one or two times and they’re done. People that want endurance which is what would be important in the military will lift a lighter weight a hundred times and the muscles won’t be as big and It doesn’t play as well on insta or whatever but they’re more physically fit.

I think that's why I was in the Air Force for 20 years and not the Army. No way in hell I could do that. 😅

Military training is no joke! I spent 26 years in the military. Much of it in combat. You better be in good shape.

These videos they're being shown are the exception, not the rule! You can't take the most extreme bodybuilders in the US Military and say that represents our military, it's not realistic. In fact, the Korean guy on the left is more built than the average soldier in our military.

This is NOT standard PT. The guys in this video are well above the standard requirements. The best Marines I served with were the little, wiry guys. They had 10x the stamina of these big, bulked-up, musclehead guys.
