Your triad pair method that you have been demonstrating has become an endless source of inspiration for me! Triad pairs give me so much to play over chords rather than just using chord-scales. I feel I can finally make emotional decisions about the sounds I am making which is huge! Your content in particular has set my musical mind on a course to connect my emotions to my music and use them as my guide. Thank you so much for sharing in the way that you do!!
Yes! In his bio, Nick says that he wants to put out a pedagogy that makes learning faster, fun, and more meaningful. I think this is a wonderful way to make the transition from thinking in notes to thinking in cords, as well as getting "outside" to think non-diatonically (accidentals, outside of the scale). His prices are low enough to make his practice books pretty much an impulse buy. I love how he establishes a pattern that is recognizable, and then launches it repeatedly from various points so that you know in advance what notes you are reaching for. This really builds intuitive playing. The PATA workbooks are a great example of this patterned approach (unlike typical etudes), but with more abstract learning goals (Norbert Stein). Those are also full of great workouts.
I just started taking an interest in triads and now you're doing these great lessons on triads, my timing couldn't be anymore perfect. These videos are amazing thanks man.
As I tryed this on my piano and improvised on it, I get scared: "Holly shit, when somebody is hearing this, he must think, that I am a real pro." :-) I can't thank you enough for this gems.
Just to let you know I am still working with these triad pairs. This is a great video and a great approach to making music. I have gone from diatonic robot to feeling human. Bravo!
Wow! I never even thought about any kind of fascination created by triads. I could hear that for hours. Great performance (by just noodling around :-) ) Thank you so much!
2018 the year of the great triad pair revival! let's make it happen :) for the rest of this year i am going to try and not play scales linearly but focus on triads within the tonalities and without.
This is amazing! You've opened up a completely new dimension to playing that I never knew existed. Your videos are beautiful music in their own right as well.
You really are great at creating melodies with the triad pairs. My playing always sounds too much like patterns than melodies when I play triad pairs. I play guitar and I need to focus more on the fluidity of my lines, better rhythmic phrasing and more spacing.
Thank you! This is really great. I wrote all 13 combination in my memorandum book, where I but things into, which are important to me and want never forget ... for example music ideas I want to work on. Thanks a lot.
Nice! The effect is truely beautiful, focusing on color. Like Ragas I guess. Each of these combinations become sextatonic modes, built by the combination of two triads. The choice of triad pair is based on personal choice for expression and one might find that they create sextatonic modes. Hundreds of possibilities. On a bass drone of Cm, playing triads Cm and D combined, we hear these notes against the drone: 1. C - Eb - G 2. D - F# - A Which gives a sextatonic mode of Cm with : 1 - 9 - b3 - #11 - 5 - 6 . We might see it as Dorian #11 (without the 7) ? A beautiful sound from the mix of the Dorian and Lydian. A kind of minor lydian. Or the combination of F and G triads over Cm which gives the sextatonic mode C m/M : 11 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 1 - 9 : Quartal no 3rd 1. F - A - C 2. G - B - D I'm curious to read what you think.
Hi from Paris Your approches are so interresting that it should be adapted for all instruments ( especially guitar for me ) like you have done with the "soul scales exercices" . Thanks again for your altruism !

Excellent content and introduction, as you say, music and life have so many similarities. Thanks.
Great video! For me, minor isn't SAD. Your minor drone sounds optimistic, so all of the triad pairs you played sounded beautiful. However, each one could be a different colored exotic in flight. Or, each one could be a different escape root from prison!
This is the best lesson I had in years! Though I play guitar it took me time to figure out my own favorite ones but I have got couple of them which are working for me! I just wanted to know if you have made any videos for playing triad pairs over moving harmony or chord progressions. I have been trying them on chord progression but I get lost! Thank you again for these amazing lessons!
Thank you so much for this wonderful video... These sounds are so infusing and pervasive, so much music and inspiration can be derived by this Trial Pair method... Just out of curiosity, are you going to do a similar video with 'Triad pair options to try over a major chord'? Many Blessings, Max T.
To me its almost like a strong solo with triads extending the underlying chord is the piece of paper the chords are painted on, and not the other way around. I dont mean this in any negative, or positive way. Great exercise. Thanks.
Nice one Nick! Thanks for your PDF update. I like to know how you think of your approach notes (if any) as you "slide" in and out of the triad pairs here? and...Thanks for this upload. :-)
Big fan of your videos man! Would you have any interest in doing a full analysis of Superwoman or/and Happier than the morning sun? Two absolutely beautiful compositions from Music of My Mind. Cheers from Brooklyn, New York.
Really good content, nice sounds!! But why are you only covering minor triad pairs ? It would be interesting to see this concept applied to dominant or major chords
The PDF explains the chord possibilities but not a transcription of what he’s playing. I’m spoiled rotten; it sounds so amazing, I’ll just transcribe some of the lines myself! Thanks!
great vid very tranquil and meditative x... you just explained shine on you crazy diamond! P1 and P2 and soft machine and much much jazz and classical... mind blown thank you! -BOSS! subbed liked and loved

I feel the same. This stuff is so great.

This is a great lesson. We are forced to slow down, open our ears and really feel the power of intervals. I have grown to open my eyes more fully.
As I tryed this on my piano and improvised on it, I get scared: "Holly shit, when somebody is hearing this,
he must think, that I am a real pro." :-)

Great stuff, beautiful colors, thanks for cataloging these.
This is amazing! You've opened up a completely new dimension to playing that I never knew existed. Your videos are beautiful music in their own right as well.
I know one thing: You are very intelligent and super creative. His teaching is fenomenal.
I love what you are doing with triad pairs. Really masterful! I can't wait to hear what you do with them in the future.
man I feel so relaxed and inspired after listening to this, thanks!
Am glad I discovered this channel! 🤘❤️
Hey Man, The Melody in the beginning of Erik Satie Inspired part blew me away ! God bless you !

This is top-shelf quality. Thank you.
Excellent content, as usual, superb photographs
Beautiful, rewarding, inspiring 🙏🏼
Extremely Beautifully presented! Thanks for the work you put into this!

All those triad pairs are amazing but 6:24, 11:58, 13:30 got me 🤯. Thanks for another great video from a very happy subscriber. 😁👍

yes! however, the triad unit has a different sound than a scale. Rather than 6 notes I think the ear perceives these sounds as 3 + 3
oh dear, this video really expanded my improvisation skills. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Haunting longing and reflective ... nice imagery too!

Beautiful sounds!!! Can't wait to start exploring them! Thanks!!
I'm loving your videos!
Thank you for sharing so peaceful sounds of color 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎷✌🏽😎
Thank you, time to practice looking forward to download and check out all these beautiful sounds.
By the way, is it possible to write out in bass clef, I'm not a good reader and it doesn't make it easier when I have to transpose?
Great video! For me, minor isn't SAD.

Wtf is this comment
Thank you for sharing your knowledge bro!!
Gracias!!!
Glorious! Thank you.

Awesome Nick!

Excellent,thank you for upload.
This is amazing! Thanks for this!
Nice one Nick!
Thanks for your PDF update.
I like to know how you think of your approach notes (if any)

I am developing a new video on this, as they work great!
Bass cleff please:)
Thank you for opening my ears with these triad pairs concepts ! I love the sound and how you can flow harmonically. Thanks for sharing ;-),
you have a super sound on the soprano....could you tell what mouthpiece you use? I use a selmer super session and don't have that sound
He sounds like he uses a “classical” setup ..
Big fan of your videos man! Would you have any interest in doing a full analysis of Superwoman or/and Happier than the morning sun? Two absolutely beautiful compositions from Music of My Mind. Cheers from Brooklyn, New York.
Please please publish your sax playing this over a minor drone on Spotify!
This is beautyfull.
Where is the "Minor Triad Pair Colours/Options/Emotions" PDF?
Could anyone explain to me why the 4th of the Gmajor is a C minor not a C major ? Highly appreciate an answer here. Thanks
Also, I can't seem to find this on your website. Is it sold out, or, which PDF is it in?
Reminds me of jan garbarek
Great lesson thanks !
Really good content, nice sounds!! But why are you only covering minor triad pairs ? It would be interesting to see this concept applied to dominant or major chords
He does elsewhere. These are just the pairs he finds appropriate to this soundtrack.
i start to try, higly recommend, saludos

Can Triad pairs be paired ? I love your triad pair videos.

Is there a minor triad PDF transcription for this video available for purchase?
Name Name it’s in the description :)
The PDF explains the chord possibilities but not a transcription of what he’s playing. I’m spoiled rotten; it sounds so amazing, I’ll just transcribe some of the lines myself! Thanks!
Referring specifically to the video of minor triad pairs vice Cantaloupe Island video!
Sorry, I was just noodling!
thanks!
Got me high.
Don’t worry, you never yap.
The only problem for me was that every example felt like a door opening. It will take me a long while to suss out the nuances.
🙌👍🙏
Pink Floydish
I appreciate the time line, but there's little in your videos I want to skip. ❤
Who disliked this video ?? Are they serions??
