      That’s right. There’s no doubt watching Bill and the others growing up made me better after practicing what I learned watching them. Everyone I take fishing learns what I teach them and from that day forward forsake what they knew before . Because they catch fish now.

      Many years ago I read an article in I think Field and stream. It was written by a former cameraman from a few fishing shows. He said there was always someone there either in the water or another boat to hook a fish on if the person fishing wasn’t catching any or no big ones. Now he did say not all done this and it wasn’t done every episode but he did say it happened quite often. I’m 55 now and read this while in high school so it’s been a year or two since it was written 😂

    Hey, Bill!!! You forgot 7 and 8:
    7. Have better bodies of water to fish.
    8. Have a boat.
    Being stuck on shore can really hinder your fishing success - especially when you have one access point you're trying to finesse and guys in a boat come through power fishing and blow out your whole day 😆. They NEVER stop and turn back to preserve the water for you, even though they'll be out of that channel in two minutes and on to the next one, they'll come right through your spot and make you reel your lines in and stir up all the mud and ruin your day.
    That's why I'm getting a kayak - I can't afford a boat, and in 30+ years of fishing, I've never had the opportunity. I'm tired of being stuck trying to fan cast from one point in the hopes up catch fish - I want to travel to all the great parts of the lake.
    Happy fishing!!!

      I bought a nice little fishing kayak last year from Canadian Tire for $600. It was a great decision, have taken it on a few camping trips to provincial parks where motor boats are not permitted and I had a blast, you can really maneuver yourself into places nobody else could go, finding little ponds and creeks motor boats can't get into and where you couldn't even walk to the shore. Kayaks will get you places you'll be sure no one else has been before, and you'll catch BIG bass.

    one thing Bill dance has taught me is Dont be afraid to exspeiriment. you see 2 or 3 summers ago i saww an angler mention that ocean anglers swear that dier pepsi soaked shrimp work so i left a comment questioning why does it have to be diet pepsi , so 2 or 3 days later i go to local grocery store pick up 2 1 liters of soda 1 pepsi and 1 dr.pepper i put hotdogs and maple sausage in the water bottle mixed with pepsi and dr.pepper then decided to let the hotdogs soak og overnight but instead gave about between 1 to 2 weeks then returned and caught a cautfish on a coke soaked hot dog i told a friend of mine and she told "Dude you just proved that home made baits work better then the store bought bait" to which i said for catfish yeah cause as a catfish angler i reminded myself that if i knew Bo as well as i do then in no time at all ole Bo be raring to give chase and to this today i keep a little ole container with hott dogs and "MAPLE" Sausage soaking in coke. Bill thats one thing im mot proud to admit that i learned from you.

      Same size fish gets you nothing.
      Young body is very beneficial in these endurance contests.
      Younger anglers benefit from the knowledge of the old pioneers of the sport. Internet is a wealth of information for newbie anglers.
      KNOWLEDGE IS THE KEY !!!!!!!
      The electronics now are wonderful now. Great equipment, available knowledge an youth coming together at a earlier age now.
      I just say thanks to all who came before me for their contributions to the sport. Bill Dance learned his lessons well in structure fishing an knows the difference between structure and breaks.

    I fish with guy here in Florida . We use the exact tackle a 5 inch June bug Senko 1/4 0z bullet sinker and 30 lbs braided line . He will out fish me 4 to one just about every trip ! The only thing I can see that he does different is most every time he casts out he gets a backlash in the reel ! So while he's picking it out . That worm is just lying on the bottom ! Sort of dead sticking I guess you could say . I've tried just letting my bait lay there after the cast . ( I don't seem to get many backlashes ?) Still no luck ! Is it just BS luck or what ?

    • @hanburgundy4317
      @hanburgundy4317 Год назад +1

      It's luck lol The world hammers home the point that not everyone gets the same opportunities, even in the same situations. Some people just get lucky, and the rest have to work twice as hard to still not keep up. It is what it is lol

    • @DxWhoopingCrane
      @DxWhoopingCrane Год назад

      Do you move the rod, reel at all, or do anything after the cast? Observe how your friends line is laying on the water when hes catching fish while fixing his backlash, is the line slack, taut, in between? Is he moving the tip down or up? 90% of senko strikes come from the initial fall right after it hits the water, the way it falls through the water column is key to getting strikes with it. Also, try rigging weightless with lighter line. He also may have a better sense of were to cast into cover or he may be casting into "new" water when you guys are moving, observe what he does there too.

    • @DxWhoopingCrane
      @DxWhoopingCrane Год назад

      @@hanburgundy4317 Thats complete bs and an excuse. Fishing is determined by a ton of constantly changing variables, anglers that can anaylze those variables more effectively catch more fish. If you think it comes down to luck then you arent seeing all the variables.

    • @hanburgundy4317
      @hanburgundy4317 Год назад +1

      I'm not saying you're wrong, but you and your buddy can throw the same lure on the same line with the same presentation - he can be borrowing YOUR rod, and you can have years experience and research on him - and you can still get smoked by him lol
      There's most certainly a luck factor when it comes to fishing. Of course, everything we can learn to help us improve should do so, but you can't deny that we all have those days where we're throwing into what looks like the perfect spot with the perfect bait under the perfect conditions and get zero bites; other days, we can't seem to make a bad cast, and the fish hook themselves.

    • @DxWhoopingCrane
      @DxWhoopingCrane Год назад

      @@hanburgundy4317 What you call luck are the variables im talking about at play. Its true that a mega experienced fisherman can sometimes get smoked by a noob, absolutely. But that isnt luck, there is a underlying variable to why that happened. If it happens once and never again, then its probably a infrequent variable that means in the long run that piece of the puzzle is fairly inconsequential and does not need to be an area of focus to improve fishing versus putting time and effort into the things that matter. If it is happening consistently like to the person we are replying to, it is likely to be a fundamental or important variable that is effecting his fishing. Bass dont play favorites, there is a reason that guys buddy is catching more fish, there is more to fishing than the tackle being used.
      To the second part of your comment, I rarely, if ever, get skunked bass fishing, as its the kind of fishing I have the most experience with. I cant recall getting skunked in at least 5 years. The conditions dont matter, I can now adapt, the only time my catch rate goes down considerably is if the fishery declines into very poor condition and there are simply fewer fish in the water. Every time I had a bad day under perfect conditions in the past I asked myself why that happened and gradually figured it out. On days with bad conditions yet the fish were falling onto my hook I also asked myself what could have caused that and figured it out. The things I learned were often things that I never even considered effect bass fishing. This isnt luck, I observed what works and what doesnt from time on the water and a little research, and through those observations was able to figure out whats going on below the water and with the fish. Recently, I've taken up trout and steelhead fishing on rivers, which has some similarities but in general is a whole different ballgame compared to bass on lakes. I now get skunked very frequently, but im gradually improving every-time by using the same mindset as I described with bass fishing.
