Not much is known about Little Hat Jones. He recorded 10 sides for the Okeh company in 1929 and 1930. This song was recorded during his third and last session In San Antonio, Texas.
It's a very melodic tune and not really a blues in form. The chords are simple and the song itself is distiguished by its beautiful simplicity.
Standard tuning G position capo I
I'm playing a copy of a 1934 Gibson L00 made by John Greven.
In the background you see the cover of Roy Book Binder's first LP on Adelphi Records. I came to know the song through that album in 1972.

You play with such soul. Beautiful
Very tasteful variations! I also first learned this song from the Book Binder recording in the early 70's. it was on great Kicking Mule album with other artists, I think Woody Mann and Gary Davis. I still love the simplicity and honesty of the tune. I will learn your solos! Thanks!
Love your work daddy.
Beautiful Blues ❤Best Regards from Poland❤
Perfect 🎶
Love that ending.
Sweet!

Delightful! Help me out … what is a capo for? I understand that it changes the pitch? To make it more suitable for the singers voice but you mention “it makes things a little easier”.
Could I just TRY to learn this without a capo and move everything up a fret, just the c and g in their normal position?
Thanks to your excellent teaching I can now do a decent ‘Creole Belle’ and ‘Goodmorning Blues’ is coming on very nicely.
Cheers.
Tim
Thanks for the kind words Tim. Sure, you can learn this without a capo, all the positions remain the same. You should consider my capo position as non existant. However, using a capo can make fretting easier because the higher up the fretboard the closer the frets are to each other, that's what I mean with "makes things easier"; apparant in the second solo.
Ahhhhh! Thanks so much. You make everything seem so straightforward. That’s the sign of a great teacher. 😎
Very nice. Thanks for your tutorial on Laughing when you see me crying. Is there any chance you can cover or teach Frankie and Albert? I like Joe’s version even better than John’s.
Thanks, indeed, Joe's version is very moving. I'll think about it, maybe on a 12 string to give it a bit more body.
At any rate I appreciate your videos & guitar playing passion!
