    great video. you made clear the purpose of the flat vs heavy ball. Because everyone preaches to play with high top spin all the time and nobody speaks about the flat balls. going to try that tomorrow.

    I like this drill where you’re calling out what type of ball is struck . I’m going to start doing that in my next practice session.

    Really enjoyed this video. It’s really good to see how to do the shot and where it comes into use. I need to practice the heavy ball when close to the net as I often hit just long. I also struggle to get my opponent off the court.
    Also I love all the long sleeve Nike tops you wear. They look good and comfortable.

    Yeah …. I love your flat ball at the end. It was 3-6 inches from the top of the net . I was hitting that shot 4 weeks ago but didn’t know how I was doing it until last night when I was practicing . The key I discovered is in the lag !! ….. and using the entire right arm from the shoulder … and keeping the wrist BEHIND the right shoulder as you rotated the upper body and swing the arm. I wasn’t understanding the purpose of each segments involved how they contributed into the swing. But now I do !

    Thank you great video. I was just wondering how do you feel about weight lifting and building muscle seeing most pro tennis players are very lean.

    • @ironwilltennis
      @ironwilltennis  2 года назад +1

      I train In the gym regularly. And I coach and play. Having muscle is great if you build them properly and in conjunction with proper functional training

    • @freespeechisneverwrong9351
      @freespeechisneverwrong9351 Год назад +1

      I have weight trained for 25 plus years and I have just taken up tennis in the last year.
      Found it really difficult to balance both as I was completely exhausting myself and not improving in either.
      So I have now achieved a good balance. Take your average bodybuilding workout whilch usually takes one hour. Reduce the No of sets so you are out of the gym in a half hour. Play tennis 2-3 times a week.
      I am going to work on periodisation over the next six months and work through heavy training in the winter and progress through to competition with only 1-2 weights sessions a week.
      I will use plyometrics at a certain stage to better improve my tennis and also have a good effect on the weight training.
      For more info look up “periodisation” on YT.
      Don’t make the mistake of trying to build your body and play hard tennis at the same time.
