If I had it my way, I would add full friendly fire, collision detection between players and get rid of see-through walls and Arachnids highlighted for ease of aim. This latest update seems to have turned the game into an even more dumbed down casual title. I'm going to stick with MechWarrior Online and Space Hulk Deathwing: Enhanced Edition where the tactical and difficulty features I want exist.
I played a match that spawned a crazy amount of shooter bugs, like 20-40 at once. They hit one side of our base and literally anyone who popped their head out from cover was dead in seconds if not less. What made it worse was the changes to the hawkeye and from what i understand, operators no longer have access to it, that and its damage nerf made killing these shooters incredibly difficult. Im not totally sure, maybe it was a arachnid buff this round but they were bullet sponges, all of them. Running as a bastion, it would take far too many rounds of ammo to take just one warrior or shooter down. It also felt like the SAW had no stagger effect and everything would blow past my weak barrage of machinegun fire like i was shooting them with an airsoft gun. Now the damage wouldnt of felt so bad if the SAW still had a stagger, but i was having to switch to my emancipator to stun then switch back to the SAW for the damage, then after awhile i just used the emancipator and forgetting the SAW.
Yeah I feel like small things they messed up on like the controller keys. Every time I use my jetpack I pull out my ammo fabricator. The Veteran/hard difficulty is extremely easy now like you said taking FOREVER to finish an ARC mission. I hope they listen to us sounding off here and their own discord. Fix it and we can all be happy. 😊
Personally i dislike the mods. They should have an option to play regular matches or modded matches. I like the manned turrets. I miss my grenade cooldown feature as a hunter.
I just bought this game yesterday and played for a few hours, I was having a great time. I played my first on easy, second on normal, and then all of the rest on hard. I’m someone who enjoys difficult Coop games. As much fun as I was having I was a little disappointed in the fact that I never lost a single mission on hard out of the 7 or 8 hard missions I played! Awesome game, I will be playing more. I agree with you though, I would like a challenge. Thanks for video.
I also made a feedback on the official discord with the same feeling as you. I guess they tunned the difficulty lower because Mutations were supposed to make the game harder, but it's not the case at all, it's almost irrelevant at this point... Devs needs to rollback the infestation spawnrate to where it was before ! Bring back the fun ! Hope we don't have to wait the next phase to get that fixed...
The modifiers do have a tendency to really mess with the difficulty of game and not as its meant to. Increased ambush chance caused one game to become a literal movie scene. We were forced to fight from bunkers, firing our guns for what felt like 6 minutes straight, before doing the same 3 more times. The base defence was by far the most hectic i think ill ever see. And absolute unending tide of bugs. Cool factor was off the scale, BUT it was not feasible to play effectively.
Easy medium hard ... and beyond. Have the names for a reason. Controlled chaos absolutely fits the starship troopers vibe. You're never in control of the situation, but it could waver in your favor.
Id guess theyre still figuring out the sweet spot. Most of the changes I saw were for the good so Idsuspect it was either some sort of bug making the bugs too easy, or they just tweaked it too much. If we get another update and it stays the same Ill be worried but I suspect we'll see the difficulty tweaked soon. I do like the class tweaks at least. Hunter feels way more of a hinter class with the tweaks they made and I like that the hawkeye is unique to them now.
honestly, even before the patch veteran was too easy (imo) i only play together with my girlfriend, so were always 2 when were roaming and we usually took out the patrols by ourselves, worked perfectly. i dont know why they changed that tbh. all you need to win before the patch was some people with dedication. the problem is, that most people are dedicated to farming ores from the refinieries that are 20 meters outside from base
I think the Utility balancing is also weird, Bastion no longer has the chem grenade and scanner? okay, i can understand the grenade, with shock traps, it gives a lot of stun to the operator to use chem grenade and gl for the bastion in the gates to funnel the bugs towards him. But, the scannner too?, i believe scanner to be sort of an engineer class item because it's a force multiplier, so they took away the extra mags and powered up build tool from operator, which you'd think would put it in more of a support role, but left the scanner to now have someone have to choose between life saving stims or them? while also repairing slower. Bastion now has powered up build tool, which i'm not sure what to feel about it, as i usually rock synth armor and bigger mags, repairing seems like something most suited for operators and hunters in my opinion. Also, giving all classes bloodlust and extra utility perks is a change i welcome though. But there is something that feels off about not having bigger mags with operator, works as a sort of nerf to the gl because now it can't have a 9 shot cyllinder. Also, i don't think Bastion should have the healing deployables, they are more suited for operator as the default medic class, or hunter, as the more mobile less hp class. And i believe mutators are too random an experience and would like a playlist without them.
They also moved the "melee combo" (Synthetic Armor+Bloodlust) from Hunters to Operators. While I enjoy the fun of being able to "melee my way out" as an Operator with 2 canisters, it makes as much sense as removing the Barbarian rage Ability and give it to the Cleric in DnD Tabletop.
There’s definitely room for improvement, thankfully the games is very early into its life and if the devs continue to put the love and effort I think we will see a gem of a game all said and done.
I like the mods, very refreshing. I think they accidentally swapped some of the difficulties. Medium is harder than hard at times. I play on aas since theyre quicker though, could be different on arc I also think the hawkeye should have been buffed or kept the damage and nerfed the rof more, but meh
Oh Vet arc is a cake walk only challenge is doing a arc on normal with warrior ambush which is bugged since the spawn counter is near infinite so you get more warriors than the outpost did. It is fun though but very intense
The mutators are a really cool addition to spice up gameplay but a lot of balancing needs to be done, ie Gunner Ambushes need to have their spawn rate reduced (god forbid tiger ambushes)
Totally agree, besides playing as operator being boring with this update, I use to revive 12-22 on veteran... now I don't even need to revive, maybe 2 players whole game. I can walk to the extraction point and still make it. One game spawned so many drones we literally had a kill count of over 450 per player. I can't play like this too easy, 3-4 grenade ammo to kill a warrior... also I end up looking for ammo most times, since no extended mag for operator.
i kinda agree and the previous difficulty hard patch since it more challenge and now the new patch hard difficulty is more like normal mode and it boring!
Before the patch on veteran, it was a tough fight to even get to the refinery sometimes, after the patch, you could probably do it solo. I rarely saw the infestation level rise above two on all the matches i played and i never saw the endless horde activating. Also cooldowns on refineries were pretty much reduced to zero, meaning noone had any reason to go to the furthest refinery at all, causing every resource gatherer to flock to the one single refinery as a line of ants, constantly bringing resources to the base. There were basically no attacks on base at all and everyone spent more time criticising the lack of difficulty rather than fighting the nonexistent bugs. 0 lost matches, everyone made it to evac every single time. Difficulty got exterminated hard in this patch.
For me even veteran mode was considerably easy, i not always got back to rescue ship, but majoroty of times and was looking forward next dificult level updage. Didn't tried this new update yeat, bit it looks like disapointmen

I do. And if you saw the other videos on the game, you would know. But I cannot excuse such a dramatic shift in the gameplay, enough to rob any sense of challenge this game gave me before. It is unreasonable to stand silently as they ripped apart, accidentally or intentionally, many of the most important and fun aspects of playing the game in the hard difficulty. I can forgive, but I cannot just take it and be quiet.

i only tried the Easy and Normal difficulty for now and because of my work, i could only play a few Normal games yesterday and yeah, I was bored and I think everyone else in my games had the same feeling because no one cared to do plan or say anything. We barely made it because the team went sloppy and died many times over during the base invasion swarm phase. It was not a satisfying match at all. I suppose that most of the Normal mode players before the Patch moved to the hardest difficulty to try to have a challenge now... idk
Earned a sub from me man, I agree even with out a maxed out class i jumped into veteran played with some buddies, even had the mutaor for the level 5 infestation. didn't make it any harder. they need to make the game as hard as they nerfed the hunter XD
This game looks really fun and I know OWI is a solid dev team, do you recommend a new player to buy it now or wait until they fix some of the stuff? Last thing I would want is for me to buy a game and it quickly becomes extremely easy to beat.
at this point, if you are a hard core fan of the ip, sure. It delivers of that starship troopers experience. If you want a real challenge, if you are on the higher skill of things, then wait until they fix hard mode or release horde mode.
I do agree with the video with how they messed up difficulty. It's more of a hit or miss now relying on mutators to bring back the difficulty. Before the update, I had a lot of intense moments holding positions, moving in squads to collect gas from refineries +500m from the base on max infestation level, and a lot of base building. With the new update, I don't feel as challenged, threatened, or afraid of being snuck up on by the arachnids especially when the previous update had you get 1 shotted if the Warrior bug hits you from behind on Veteran. When it comes to classes, a lot of class tweaks felt more tuned for solo play than co-op. Bastion's SAW buff adding +50 to the pool of 150 per magazine wasn't needed compared to the +1 magazine before running out. With both buffs, you aren't relying on other players to feed you ammo anymore. The other issue I had with the SAW magazine buff was giving the gun too much stopping power. I have a philosophy when it comes to Co-Op PvE games dealing with hordes of enemy that there should be a balance of killing power, stopping power, and down time. Currently the Saw has way too much stopping power and it can easily fend off a horde of arachnids to the point that they can't overrun a good Bastion player with Extended Magazine. The Emancipator buff I was questioning since that pistol I'd say is overtuned, being able to instantly stun Warrior bugs on Veteran difficulty and now with a higher rate of fire can be used to easily pick off Gunners or hold off a lot of warrior bugs each reload. The Carbine didn't need a damage nerf since you spend a lot more time reloading than killing arachnids. It may have a fast kill time when it comes to doing damage but the downtime and lack of good stagger leaves much to be desired. There's a couple other things I wanted to mention but this comment is starting to get too long so i'll leave it as this.
That one is supposed to be harder, nightmare mode. Easy should be easy. Hard should be hard. That's it. That what it means... And it's just not hard anymore. Not even close. It's boring and too easy.
Yeah but that's 1 in 20 games or even more rare. Remember before the update how chaotic and difficult level 5 infestation was? Now, in hard, with the level 5 mutator, is a snooze fest...
im still playing with US player in US region, ASE region have too many....bad player who dont know what should to do and alway deliver gas before base is ready even play as Operator but not take Ore to the base

Well, Imo, it should be like it was before, but maybe relax a little on the timer for the bug patrols. But everything else was great, as a baseline for the overall difficulty of the game on hard. There was rarely a dull moment. And it made sense, we are vanguard. We are the first ones there. We prep the way for the MI. If we fail to suppress them, they should overwell us. Even the gunners needed an adjustment because they would nearly instakill hunters, but now they are too nerfed. The baseline difficulty should be hard. The mutators should add twists to it. Stuff like grenadiers spawn more often but they are less accurate. Drones can jump over walls but they do half the damage. Warriors are twice as fast because they half the armour or hp. Ambushes now contain twice the bugs but they spawn 50% less often. Stuff like this to have an overall effect on the gameplay but maintain the hard difficulty relatively the same.

I seriously hate these new mutators. Not only they ruin the immersion of the game by being circus vomit (super loony tunes fast bugs, sandstorm is visual cancer, gunner spam, grenadier spam, boring drone spam, etc). They ruin any dificulty. I played a game with only little drones spawning the entire match. I was BORED out of my mind. The devs need to get rid of this shit or leaving it on their own mode and call it WTF or something. No one wanted this.
It wasnt hard to do exterms if you actually bothered to do them. You hit the nail squarely when you said it's the whiners who've won here. It's another game thats been dumbed down to it's lowest IQ player.

its very boring now play, i just play because im still on discord space force, but to play alone its so boring, there nothing to do, there is no infestation more, there is no sense on collect blue more, the game has no identity more

My main is a Bastian and me and 1 Hunter friend take patrols on ourselves on the old Normal... Now we do that on Hard... 😅😅😂
100% agree with this patch review i have more fun just trolling by filling the gas with 1 line wall defence than collecting ore

The mods can be either great or awful. I've played moderately boring matches and completely unwinnable matches, all made so by the modifiers.

That one is supposed to be harder, nightmare mode. Easy should be easy. Hard should be hard. That's it. That what it means... And it's just not hard anymore. Not even close. It's boring and too easy.

Yeah but that's 1 in 20 games or even more rare. Remember before the update how chaotic and difficult level 5 infestation was? Now, in hard, with the level 5 mutator, is a snooze fest...
im still playing with US player in US region, ASE region have too many....bad player who dont know what should to do and alway deliver gas before base is ready even play as Operator but not take Ore to the base
I think part of it could be they don’t know where they wont the difficulty to be. Should it be in the prep or the arc defense part? I would like to here your opinions.
Well, Imo, it should be like it was before, but maybe relax a little on the timer for the bug patrols. But everything else was great, as a baseline for the overall difficulty of the game on hard. There was rarely a dull moment. And it made sense, we are vanguard. We are the first ones there. We prep the way for the MI. If we fail to suppress them, they should overwell us. Even the gunners needed an adjustment because they would nearly instakill hunters, but now they are too nerfed. The baseline difficulty should be hard. The mutators should add twists to it. Stuff like grenadiers spawn more often but they are less accurate. Drones can jump over walls but they do half the damage. Warriors are twice as fast because they half the armour or hp. Ambushes now contain twice the bugs but they spawn 50% less often. Stuff like this to have an overall effect on the gameplay but maintain the hard difficulty relatively the same.
@@TheOnlySillySocks hmm good points. I was just coming from the position of not really playing before the patch. I do agree it is much too easy right now tho. Hell the only time I thought we could loose was with the gunner ambush thing.
but the chinese folks still come to the us west server and talk in a language foreign to most asians :|

I seriously hate these new mutators.
Not only they ruin the immersion of the game by being circus vomit (super loony tunes fast bugs, sandstorm is visual cancer, gunner spam, grenadier spam, boring drone spam, etc).
They ruin any dificulty. I played a game with only little drones spawning the entire match. I was BORED out of my mind.
The devs need to get rid of this shit or leaving it on their own mode and call it WTF or something.

arc mode with mutators where warrior spawn every second is hard on normal mode and unplayable
It wasnt hard to do exterms if you actually bothered to do them.

Nah, speed boosted bugs are quite fun. So are endless drone spawn.
@@Luis519RS mutations have completely ruined the game. Its very obvious none of this was tested. Wouldn't mind mutations if done properly. They just threw these in and hoped for the best

@@Luis519RS well yeah thanks for stating the obvious Captain, I know its EA, doesn't mean there can't be (internal) pre EA testing done (like some games do). Also a news flash....majority of what I'm seeing is people are not happy with it, which is not just my opinion, but the opinion of many

You have any evidence or just decided, since I dont like how the cahnges went they must not have tested them. Not really a fan of the updates, the guns seem less powerful, the classes meh, miss the dmr as operator , guns sound worse, wish they tweaked it back
its very boring now play, i just play because im still on discord space force, but to play alone its so boring, there nothing to do, there is no infestation more, there is no sense on collect blue more, the game has no identity more
and the bugs dont cause more fear
this game is for teletubies, too easy for competitive players,even in the beginings.I think this game would be goty but their dificulty issues are ruining everything
