Only Volbeat can blend a riff that hits like a ton of bricks with a chorus straight from 1995 rock radio, and bookend it with classic Slayer shredding and make it all work. The production on this album is stellar.

this is proof that Mr Poulsen can still write Death Metal riffs ... and it makes my mouth water for a probable side project with a new Death Metal band, maybe with some super members! from Dominus to Volbeat my faith is the same, so much so that I recently tattooed the cover of The First Nine on my leg! 😈🤘
They are straight up using the HM-2 distortion pedal, the fucking Swedish death metal chainsaw tone. Absolute Entombed worship. Love this band!

It’s hard to hate any Volbeat song. If you don’t like the song , you usually get sucked in by the chorus or the other way around . They are also excellent story tellers.
Really miss pre outlaw gentlemen volbeat . Their sound was so unique , shotgun blues and now this are reminding of that time . Excited for the new album
Even though this is heavier than recent stuff, Michael is still singing everything way too high pitched these days.
I like that its got some throwback riffs to the old style but also has their newer style type chorus good mix of old and new
It's strange, my thoughts on Shotgun Blues were that musically I loved it, going back to their roots, with the exception of the psuedo-breakdown at the end which I didn't like at all. But lyrically and melodically it just didn't gel as it was trying to do more of their newer style. This track works better but, as @Chris Rohde says, the vocals are still very high and, in my opinion, out of whack with the music.
This track almost reminds me of The Nameless One.
Yeah they did go more commercial/radio friendly. I so miss the older stuff too, but this is good stuff too.

What I love about this is it’s not a newish spin but an old death metal spin! First this I thought when I heard this was that it sounded like something right off Left Hand Path and sure enough it’s a tribute to Entombed’s singer who passed recently. Awesome and I love it

Haha, this is pretty cool. It's like a swedish death metal song with a Volbeat song in the middle. And I have to say that chorus is pretty catchy. Huge respect to Poulsen for what he's created with Volbeat. As a huge death metal fan I love that he wears his metal roots on his sleeves. RIP LG Petrov.
I think Rob Caggiano has a huge influence in the band becoming heavier and less pop sounding. Either way nice track.
You can definitely hear influences from their earlier work. I can hear Heaven Nor Hell in the chorus. Super good, as usual. I haven't heard one bad album from Volbeat.

That is one the best pieces of advice I can ever recommend, saying nothing too a fool, it will help one out in the long run, trust that.

Shotgun Blues hit immediately! Other Volbeat songs grew on me and became favorites, such as The Everlasting! This will be one of those, I’m sure. I already like it, I’m sure I’ll love it soon. Michael is a fucking genius!!!

Favorite song of their new album so far, can’t wait to hear the rest of it, heard “last day on earth under the sound” on the radio while driving lyft and thought “huh pretty good song, doesn’t sound like a lot of things I’ve heard but it’s good” then I found out their entire catalog is like that ranging from its “Good to what a sick song ”. Playing volbeat is one of the top 3 Lyft complements I get while driving, next to my driving safety and Friendliness. Can’t count the number of times some one says, “sick playlist dude” “what band is that you were playing” or “what was the name of that song”. Volbeat has also been the reason for big tips on more then one occasion.

Absolutely Amazing
One thing I love about this specific band is the communication between the instruments and the vocals. The way both transit between territories is plain fantastic. It's like, when Michael's singing the instruments know it is time to follow, specially during the chorus. Yet, when they're by themselves, either on the intro/outro or on the breakdown, they can make your head fall off if you let 'em. It's like they have their own personality!

Whoah! I love the Death Metal guitar sounds at the beginning of the song and the end. It sounds like Entombed. The song overall captures the heavy Groove Metal sound of the first few albums with the melody of the last few albums as well as their Death Metal roots in the band Dominus. This is one of their best songs in years. 🤘🤘
