know how to mindfuck a defense that late in the game? don't try to get first downs, oh no, get in shotgun, take the ball and run as fast as you can backwards. you could possibly burn 15-20 seconds in just one play. especially if your qb is a pesky little turd that can dodge tacklers. even if they call a timeout, you can do it again. if they load up the line thinking your gonna do it again, throw it over their heads.
