  • If you've ever struggled trying to adjust your printer and had a lot of difficulty, you'll find the Creality K1/K1 Max magical. In this video, we will go through all the stages of tuning the K1, from the temperature tower, filament flow calibration, printing speed, and we will look for the perfect print with Brazilian filaments from the brands GTMax, 3D Labs, and 3D Prime to find out which of them delivers better results in 3D printing with the Creality K1/K1 Max.
    Furthermore, I am answering many questions not listed in the official Creality K1/K1 Max calibration tutorial (wiki.creality...., and I am giving you relevant tips to take care of best use of your 3D printer and avoid damage to your 3D prints.

    Excellent video, I have never seen a calibration video on RUclips so comprehensive on any 3D printing machines. It restores my confidence about the K1 Max machine I intended to purchase but everyone in the markets tend to rank the Bambu Lab over the Creality machines.

    • @InventorsGarage
      @InventorsGarage  Год назад +3

      Yeah, that's the million question. It depends on your country and the kind of job you want to do with your printer. Bambu is more like a plug'n play'n done. Creality K1/K1 Max offers more possibilities for customizations, not exactly like an Ender, but it is still more than a Bambu Printer. The cost of a printer and replacement parts depends on your country, while in the USA, you pay $1.5k for an X1; in Brazil, it has been sold for $3.5k because of taxes, which is also the reality in other countries.

    I use K1 MAX from more than a month, and the machine is very impressive. In the beginning it wasn't, but after some tweaking I was very happy. You really need to put it on a stable surface, and set the belt tension to be equal on both sides- around 110-120Hz. The unique of this printer is that from the start is OK, but there is a plenty to upgrade and make it great.

      @@antisocial77 get an Oscilloscope to measure it. You don't need the actual equipment, there's phone apps for it to use with your microphone. You put it up near the belt and you do a bit of a pull flick of tension on the belt to see what frequency you get. Then you tighten or loosen it at the gear corners until the tension frequency matches the range.

Can't wait to put this to use when my replacement parts for my broken Max come in. I would expect that the new extruder should resolve a lot of the issues. Jams like that are not supposed to happen on printers like these. These are not meant to be like Ender 3's, they are far too expensive for that. I get my own parts tomorrow and I hope its resolved for me as well.

    Dear Digital Inventor, you are a professional! Sharing your experience, and ability to to share long videos and keep the concentration of your audience is a trait to be utelised more by you - remarkable.
    Please be so kind as to advise on reasons for PETG to just break while just sitting in the printer, not busy printing! This happened a few times with the same reel of filament! This PETG filament also broke off while printing, well some time within a print job. It was a newly purchased reel of 1Kg PETG grey coloured filament, that we opened just three days ago. The reel of PETG was supplied in a sealed plastic bag, complete with diseccant in the bag. We also experienced a lot of stringing with this PETG filament. Regards

    • @InventorsGarage
      @InventorsGarage  Год назад +1

      Hi Lada, thank you for your kind words. Every filament brand has a different chemical composition and demands calibration. PETG is a very flexible material, and breaking so easily is weird; it could be a low-quality product or a bad batch. Some PLA brands become frágil when absorbing humidity, but I never saw it happening with PETG.

    • @PeterVanLaarhoven81
      @PeterVanLaarhoven81 Год назад +1

      The brittleness generally happens when your filament absorbs too much moisture. This is very common when you open a filament but don't use it for a few weeks or months. There are filament dryers that can help. Some people recommend putting their filament in the oven for a few hours but I would not recommend putting potentially toxic chemicals in the same oven that is used for food.

    • @InventorsGarage

      Thank you Doyle. Yes PETG use to have some waves on printing, I believe it is related to the material characteristics, it is harder to get on good appearance, but is very good on resistance.

I have been 3D printing for close on 12 years now, owned a couple of Creality Ender 3 printers and purchased a Bamboo Lab X1 Carbon and the Creality K1 Max when they first came out. However, I've since sold the Bamboo because I personally find the Creality K1 Max to be a better printer. Great video! On the 2nd step of flow calibration, are you sure you are correct about the results being added or subtracted from your initial best setting? It looks like when you gave a "-5" result from step one that it then bracketed that value by +/- 5. So, if you got a result of "-3" for step 2 that would be the value you use, not "-8". If it were relative to the "-5", it would have given you an available range of "+5" to "-5", centered on "0".

    Wesley, I have spent almost two weeks calibrating an ASA+ filament and doing precisely the procedure you outline in your video. Thank you for filling in some blanks that Creality's Calibration Wiki doesn't mention. I really appreciate your advice on how to interpret the printed results. One of the things that messed up my Flow Rate tests was the AI flow correction that can be a part of the "Print calibration" function you can enable when sending the print to the printer. It can do more than just bed levelling... Can you please post a link to the same video in Portuguese?

      Hi @omahena, I use to disable the function "pressure advance" at the filament profile, this function use to cause oscillation on the hotend pressure during the printing. But regarding the AI flow correction I've never had an issue with that, but I must to say that I also notice no changes when using it LOL, besides the fact that that thing spends more filament. I believe Creality is still collection data to improve this functionality, since it was added on K1 Max.

    Vídeo maravilhoso! Obrigada!

    Qual ferramenta você utilizou pra fazer a dublagem? Não sei se o original é em inglês, mas está muito bom mesmo.

    I have a couple running questions. So if I want to move up from a .4 to a .6 nozzle should I redo the calibration over with the larger nozzle? Second question. Would going to a larger nozzle maybe .8 help with printing tpu or the softer filaments?

    Can you pse explain the following. You said, in the first case let us assume you got 5 and in the second case you got -2. So the final number is 3 right? But you are adding only +2 to the percentage and not +3. Is it that we have to substract this +3 from the remaining percentage which 5%?. Thank you so much for all your efforts
