Great video! I love Denise's reaction to your heading cut! Haha. I planted mine about the same time as yours, yet yours are significantly more vigorous! Any tips for feeding to get them to grow more this year?! Thanks.

Well a lot of it starts at the beginning when you plant. We did a video on what we did to prepare the planting hole. We used a lot of compost biochar and we also treated the plants with JMS about four times during the growing season. I guess what I'd recommend is going back and look at my videos on JADAM and I would apply before bud break JMS at least four times at 7 to 10 day intervals. Be sure to mix with this some of the liquid fertilizer at a ratio of about 1 to 100. If you see that the plants still look a little weak and growth you can continue with the JMS and jlf applications say at twice a month during the growing season. I would stop applications around the end of August. Because from that point forward the trees are either fruiting or they're preparing their buds for the next season.

Thanks@@BareMtnFarm . I've gone back and re-watched them. How quickly my brain tends to forget when I don't apply the info! I'm excited to get going again with current, and future trees! Thanks for all the tips!

Do you have ideas on rejuvenation of very old apple trees

Well I guess the first thing I would do on an older tree is look to remove any wood that's damaged or dead. It really depends on the how I was trained when it was young. If it still has a central leader I would recommend you know keeping with that system and don't cut out the central leader but try to shape the tree around that. It also depends greatly on what type of rootstock do your tree has. If it's a standard tree and typically it would probably be up to 20 to 25 ft in height, which may make pruning a little more challenging. The goal would be to over several years to get the tree back to a more manageable height while maintaining the shape. You really just have to spend time kind of looking at it and then trying to envision what you want the tree to look like. The other thing is is if you find rot in the in the interior the tree may not be long before it'll have a problem and need to be removed. But if things are structurally sound that's the kind of approach I would take is trying to get it back to a manageable height removing all the dead and crossing branches while trying to maintain its shape. Be careful not to take more than a third of the live growth often in any particular year. Taking too much can shock the tree and cause it to die. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

These look great! Will you be spraying these for any reasons?
We have a very old peach tree of my in-laws that has thrown out a couple new branches from nearly nothing but an old winding trunk.
We thought it had been dead. So, it may be a waste of time, but we’d like to limp it along for nostalgia. Should I trim these third year branches at all?

Hi there, really enjoying your work and your videos as a couple, you're a great teacher. The cats are a bonus. I found you through the Jadam video and subbed right away. I'm in Florida and there's sand here. Things grow more slowly. Building microorganisms in the soil.
