I had the Britpart but went back to the genuine. The Britpart sealed fine as I drove through flooded roads with the water almost reaching the top of the front fenders at times. And. not just a simple 20 meter crossing. This was a good 600 meters. But because the rubber is quite stiff you have to close the door with some decent force. I had the genuine seal on the passenger side still so I had a good comparison. The door just closes easier. No slamming.
I think it is the usual story. Some things third party parts are fine, some other things stick with genuine. Buy it nice or buy it twice.
I've been thinking about upgrading to this style of seal, now I know where to spend my money 👍
Thank you
Glad it helps!
That’s a new one ‘the flick test’. Good video.
Britannica Mike did his pen click test on seals, but I didn't have one like his! Thanks
Great review/comparison, thanks! According to my check you can buy nearly four BM seals for the price of 1 Gen LR, BP is only about £1 0r 10% cheaper than BM so for my money on an older vehicle BM gets my vote. If Gen LR was double the price I would buy it without a second thought but it's nearly 4x and could almost buy a set of 4BM seals for same price. Running an older vehicle it is always difficult to know when buying parts if it's worth paying extra for non critical unbranded parts which may even turn out to be from the same factory, however some items I will not compromise or take a chance on.
I would go for genuine. Keeps water out: ruclips.net/video/LdZGZUStGEM/видео.html :-)
Thanks Peter. The prices vary a bit. I had to buy the Bearmach part on ebay so with postage it came to circa £13, but the Britpart one as part of another order was £9. I think the Bearmach is a good value compromise, but it's incredible how much worse the Britpart one is for just a pound or so. A rule of thumb tends to be "if it turns, seals or is safety critical, buy genuine"
I have the older doors, but I still watched which seal was best for a door I don’t have. Land Rover, it’s a disease
You've come to the wrong place for help then 😂
Fitted the Bearmach version on my 90, happy with the fit and manufacture. But the main aperture seal I HAD to go genuine as nothing else gives a decent sealing and door shut.
Thanks Anthony, good to know
Are those the seals that if fitted prevent water from exiting your door
Good one 😂 I wouldn't think so 🙄
@@overnighter what do you mean you wouldnt think so .... its a normal question is it not
@@touretz water "exiting" from door?
@@touretz no worries mate, I see you
@@overnighter What are you chatting mate do the rubbers clip into the holes that lets the water out !!!! What do you mean you see me ????
Wish you'd have done this review a couple of months ago. However I opted for genuine seals. I'm glad I did but it still doesn't keep all the water out🙄
Haha. I never understood how any Defender could pass the monsoon water test at the factory
@@lrworkshop LR have a water test😱 What do they use? Kids water pistols pointed at the ground in case getting it wet will start the rust before delivery 🤣
@@sstoneman5020 Well the joke goes that the water test is to make sure they leak...
Your all getting the leak test the wrong way round.
The leak test at land Rover was to make sure water that will get in as somewhere to leak out
Good video, how about comparing multi-leaf springs(not parabolics)for series vehicles-hard to get decent springs a few years ago,not sure what the quality is like now
Lovely review, cheers
Time is quite important in assessing quality of any polymer (plastic) products. Hence, I'd love revisits to reviews 🙄
Thank you! Cheers!
I originally thought about giving away the extra seals to subscribers for free, but after the review I didn't think anyone would want them 😂 Maybe i'll just hold onto them and revisit in 3 years...
@@lrworkshop 😂😂😂 that's a problem with review you are right. Especially, when you don't rate them high 🙄 😂
I use a Tesco bag on my accelerator foot, but one day I'll upgrade to a Sainsburys bag for life.
I hear they're all the rage
@@lrworkshop When it rains, it pours in some Landy's! Really good videos and Website you have produced keep up the great work.
@@mbtech9791 Thanks!
I agree. I installed Britpart seals on my 2007 Defender 90 last autumn and already they are failing - after five months! Pure rubbish! I was conned!
Sorry to hear
Britpart don't exist as far as I'm concerned. I renovated a S3 15 years ago using Britpart and it was the worst aftermarket supplier I've ever encountered in my life, horrific. Brake adjusters made of cheese, brake cylinders that leaked from new, seals that leaked, parts that didn't fit.
I realise some people can't afford better parts. My counter to that is that you really can't afford to own and run a Land Rover.
Would this seals fit older doors. Alu skined. Cheers 🍻
Hi Al. Not easily I suspect. The earlier doors are square so you'd have to stretch the seal at the corners
Or maybe you could. I might try and offer them up to the doors one day and make a video
@@lrworkshop I will try just to heal my shoulder. Thanks for info. Cheers 🍻
20 minutes geeking out about land Rover seals. Watched it all and they don’t even fit my 110!.
It's the brand new parts effect. I've got some great videos due soon that you'll enjoy!
