  • HIP HOP Fan REACTS To Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode (1958) Chuck Berry Reaction Video
Well here's one of the greatest Rock n' Roll tunes ever written. Originally released in 1958 and then re-released on Chuck's 1962 album 'Twist', Johnny B. Goode arguably in itself upped the level for Rock music and solidified Chuck Berry's status as a pioneer. Keith Richards later said that Chuck succeeded in releasing effectively the same song over and over again after this one -- but the question must be posed, when it's this great why not?

I wouldn't have a blast making my fingers bleed playing bass to bands like Metallica and Rancid today without Chuck Berry. Hell, the majority of the first wave of punk rock was just speed-up Chuck Berry riffs.

WELL... "😎" NOT ONLY DID CHUCK BERRY HAVE THE RHYTHM, THE MOVES, AND THE LOOKS😎👈👀... THIS MAN WAS A TRUE ROCK & ROLL POET... BECAUSE IF YOU *REALLY, REALLY* Want TO APPRECIATE CHUCK BERRY, JUST LISTEN TO *THE LYRICS* HE WROTE... EVEN IF HE WAS ONLY A POET, WHO WROTE THESE WORDS, FOR SOMEONE ELSE AND WAS IN THE BACKGROUND, WITHOUT HAVING THE REST OF HIS UP FRONT IN YOUR FACE TALENTS LIKE HE DID, *HE'D STILL BE A GENIUS. YEP HE WAS ALLLLLLL "THAT".*

Chuck Berry was called The Black Hillbilly. You can tell by the way he sings that he was influenced by C&W music. I think his song writing abilities exceeded his singing abilities.
Elvis was recording rockabilly/rock for a year earlier than Chuck, and Little Richard. Fats was doing boogie woogie since the late 1940s. But he didn't make his splash recording until 1956.
Berry served three years in a reformatory and twenty-two months total in two prisons.
Berry was a slimy individual, despite his talent. Check out his profile on Wikipedia.
Elvis recorded "Johnnie B. Goode" in concert a number of times. He did "Brown-eyed Handsome Man" with the Million Dollar Quartet. He also recorded "Promised Land" and "Too Much Monkey Business." All four are Berry classics.

Surely you have seen the movie "BACK TO THE FUTURE"?? THIS was the song that Michael J. Fox was singing at the end of the movie, and was copying Berry's moves. Sadly he didn't do his famous DUCK WALK that he often did while performing. The BEATLES covered his songs, "ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN," and "ROCK and ROLL MUSIC" on their early albums. As fledgling Beatles before they were famous, they did more or Chuck's songs when they played out

Chuck Berry was on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson once and sang Johnny B Good. He got such an overwhelming response from the audience that he sung several more songs, not leaving time for any more guests. Kids. Weren't use to real singing talent instead of what I call " those screening songs". The mid 50's until the Beatles were the golden years of music. Elvis is still the best of all times.
