This is our twelfth year homeschooling and we've never used a homeschool room. Five years ago we finally moved to a house big enough to have one, but we just prefer the dining room table and the living room. Plus, the kids take their independent work to their bedrooms.
I set up our homeschool space in our dining room and our absolute must have is a a toddler sized table and chair! Our daughter gets so excited when she comes in and has her own special place to sit and she’s happily ready to learn. We even added a little plant of her own to water on her table. 💚 I couldn’t find a table I really liked so I ended up making one myself!
We've been homeschooling for over 6 years and 3 homes/moves. It didn't matter how big or small our home was, or whether we had a designated space, we always end up at the kitchen table or living room sofa! Our must have is a mini white board, we use that all the time and with every grade!
We are using a corner in my bedroom, right now, for my 2 kids. And we "do" school anywhere the kids go. Once my 2year old triplets start school, I'm hoping to have a little more room for school. Would love a room like yours but I will settle for at least a closet for storage. lol
You are sooo organized. I can really let this rub off on me! I have to say I love the Melissa and Doug stuff and even the Dollar Store Water Color stuff. I love how the top comes off.
Homeschool space must have for us is something encouraging and inspirational for my boy to look at when he's struggling through something challenging. I've watched him the last two years get stuck on something tough and look up to reference a few printings of Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison sayings that encouraged him to dig a little deeper into himself.
Beautiful room, Dina! =) Last year we schooled in our living room, but this weekend I turned a spare room into our homeschool room. School went so well today with a dedicated space. I felt like there were less distractions, especially for me! I love your Sarah McKenzie quote! I might add that to our room ;)
A homeschool space must have for us is a table or lapdesk, because my kids are constantly drawing or creating which helps them to connect with what they are learning.

We graduated our oldest a year ago and we have a 10th grader and 6th Fraser and an almost 2 year old keeping us entertained! We don’t have a homeschool room but I have a designated closet and totes! Yes definitely stain the pencil caddy that’s on the table! Not only will it look so pretty, but it will also protect the wood. Also, markers are best stored cap down, so the ink is always at the tip and the marker will last longer. 💗
I don't have an Instagram anymore, but I just thought I'd still comment that we have a newly updated homeschool space. I am LOVING it and more importantly so are my children. I hope to have a room someday, but I'm sure God knows that I need to learn how to manage a space before I take on a whole room. Thank you for sharing this room! It is AMAZING! And also, side note again, would you ever be willing to show more about the Classical Conversations timeline cards? I have thought about maybe getting a set but they don't show what they look like too much on their website. So I was wondering how they are laid out and of the details of how they work. We are doing remote learning through public school but I am also doing some "mama school" as well because remote learning is just not great without live instruction. We put a small desk in our dining room and I hung a banner and a few decorations to make it fun. This map is so great and I would love it for my 1st grader! I have loved all the videos you have done so please do show more detailed organization videos!
We have a homeschool room...I love it. I'm always moving things around and not completely happy with it but love it...if that makes sense. It's our happy place. My daughter has a lap desk also because she has a bean bag and a tent kinda thing over it where he likes to sit and do her work some days.
We don't have a current homeschool room. We live in our travel trailer. We have definitely learned how to minimize and use the tiny space available to us as well the good outdoors to school. I love your chanel. I am still on the organizing path for homeschooling my kids (4.5 and 2 years old) this year. I wish I would be able to have designated room for it but we only have a little bit of space in living room. I was looking for a map to be able to put on the wall and that felt map stole my heart. My kids would love it so much. I tried to find some supplies in target dollar spot but they are very limited in my target. But no matter what the most important is to praise the Lord and make school a fun experience for my little ones.
First time homeschooling mama. We're doing preschool with my toddler. We live in a one bedroom apartment so no homeschool room but we do make the most of what God has blessed us with. We use the dining area and made it special for my kiddo.

Your room is so nice, cheerful and bright! The cavalri (sp?) prints, waiting for mine to arrive. The kallax shelves are awesome. I have been homeschooling in my dining room going on year 9; our dining table is for school, meals, crafting, painting, laundry etc haha.
Two necessary homeschooling items for me would be the couch for cuddles while we read and learn together and a bookcase (or bookcases more over time) because as a former teacher... I have a lot of books. And I need the paper books out of baby's reach. Also I love the ASL alphabet poster and how beautiful your room is. 😍💛

Our homeschool space is our living room/kitchen table that has to go in the living room because we have such a small house. Then we have a little (and I mean little!) breakfast nook area in the kitchen right off the living room that we use for our bookshelf and all of our homeschool storage.

We have a homeschool space, our living room has a "homeschool wall" with our bookshelves from wall to wall filled with all our materials! I actually love the open concept, and having a big cozy couch we can all snuggle on for read a louds, or unit studies!!!

We are using part of our living room for homeschooling. Military family here as well and we do not have an extra room but just a couple more years and we are going to be building a home once my husband leaves the military. I love the felt map that you showed and that would be a great item to add to our homeschool area. We do not have one of those and our dollar spot has not had them. My kids love all of the felt items, we purchased a Christmas tree and snowman and my daughter wanted to keep it on the wall for months after Christmas. Thank you for all of the videos that you make!

We live in Las Vegas and I have a son who is in third grade this year, I’m a single full time working mom so we decided to homeschool instead of distance learning where he would have to be in front of th computer for 6 hours per day. Very excited for this journey and LOVE your homeschool room. My target $ spot is always out of everything!

I love how you are not shy of showing us mess or misplaced things and the way you laugh at all those unplanned kids' surprises (e.g. the surprise crayon :p). Thanks for updated homeschool room tour. I am just going to do pre-k and toddler learning this year so I have just decided on keeping one huge shelf for all learning stuff (in my bedroom, away from kids and only what I give they get or they get to come and decide along side me) which is almost done + 1 wall where I will be putting map & our art - that is still in progress, as for our sitting place we honestly have a kids' table that we use once in a while rest we do wherever we feel like that day - I feel that makes us more regular as opposed to trying to do it in one place. I'll assign one specific sitting spot once kids are a little older. I was looking for that felt map, I am pretty excited about the give away :D Two things I wanted to mention if you don't mind, 1. can that lacing beads' box from ikea fit in your empty toddler cart shelf? it seemed suitable for that spot. 2. I personally use use & throw plastic table covers (the ones you can get for $1 or 2) and simply reuse those for arts. If you ever run out of wrapping paper, give this a try :)
My Target had NOTHING in the dollar spot area when I went recently. It was seriously all in the middle of a maybe 2 foot wide section of the shelf. I was so bummed. The biggest must for our homeschool space so far has been a clipboard so my daughter can move around where she wants.

I love how light and bright your HS room is and so beautifully organized and decorated! We also use all IKEA furniture for our school organization and pretty much most of our house, lol, as I love ikea. Your supplies organizer is perfect and I would personally leave it natural wood as it is but that’s just my preference as I love the natural light wood color and it matches your table perfectly. But make is as you prefer most as you will be seeing it everyday. 🙂 Blessings on your new school year!
This is our first year homeschooling and unfortunately we do not have a room for school. Your room is so pretty it’s making me wish we had a room like that! You did such a good job with all your organizing! Currently, we are at our kitchen table, front porch, etc. wherever we feel like it that day. We are in South Carolina too and it is SO hot! Lol Can’t wait to watch your other videos!
Love your homeschool space! I have been using our chalkboard for our More Then Words lessons and changing it each week with the character word and the key truths info as a nice reminder throughout the week.

Third, for the chalk board, I would get those liquid chalk markers and include a blessing on your entire homeschool (or a biblical quote that you want your children to memorize). Have you heard the song, "The Blessing"? You could even put those lyrics up. Course that will cause you to sing the song every time you read it...lol. Hi Dana! Your homeschool room is gorgeous! I would love to have your talent for decorating. We use our kitchen table for homeschooling. And I store all the materials on a shelf in the playroom. Our target is completely wiped out of everything in the dollar section. I wish they would sell the dollar items on the Target website.

We live in Las Vegas and I have a son who is in third grade this year, I’m a single full time working mom so we decided to homeschool instead of distance learning where he would have to be in front of th computer for 6 hours per day. Very excited for this journey and LOVE your homeschool room. My target $ spot is always out of everything!

I love all these ideas! A must have for me would be the art cart. My daughter loves to paint, color, and just get creative.
I love how you are not shy of showing us mess or misplaced things and the way you laugh at all those unplanned kids' surprises (e.g. the surprise crayon :p). Thanks for updated homeschool room tour. I am just going to do pre-k and toddler learning this year so I have just decided on keeping one huge shelf for all learning stuff (in my bedroom, away from kids and only what I give they get or they get to come and decide along side me) which is almost done + 1 wall where I will be putting map & our art - that is still in progress, as for our sitting place we honestly have a kids' table that we use once in a while rest we do wherever we feel like that day - I feel that makes us more regular as opposed to trying to do it in one place. I'll assign one specific sitting spot once kids are a little older.

Two things I wanted to mention if you don't mind, 1. can that lacing beads' box from ikea fit in your empty toddler cart shelf? it seemed suitable for that spot. 2. I personally use use & throw plastic table covers (the ones you can get for $1 or 2) and simply reuse those for arts. If you ever run out of wrapping paper, give this a try :)

We are in the process of buying a new home and are blessed with the space to create a homeschool room. We are so excited and can't wait!
We have a homeschool cabinet in the living room and I keep our extra things in my office closet :)
My Target had NOTHING in the dollar spot area when I went recently. It was seriously all in the middle of a maybe 2 foot wide section of the shelf. I was so bummed.
The biggest must for our homeschool space so far has been a clipboard so my daughter can move around where she wants.
Loved the tour! Have you thought about adding in extra nails into the clock 'geoboard' for the minutes?

I love how light and bright your HS room is and so beautifully organized and decorated! We also use all IKEA furniture for our school organization and pretty much most of our house, lol, as I love ikea. Your supplies organizer is perfect and I would personally leave it natural wood as it is but that’s just my preference as I love the natural light wood color and it matches your table perfectly. But make is as you prefer most as you will be seeing it everyday. 🙂 Blessings on your new school year!

This is our first year homeschooling and unfortunately we do not have a room for school. Your room is so pretty it’s making me wish we had a room like that! You did such a good job with all your organizing! Currently, we are at our kitchen table, front porch, etc. wherever we feel like it that day. We are in South Carolina too and it is SO hot! Lol Can’t wait to watch your other videos!

Love your homeschool space! I have been using our chalkboard for our More Then Words lessons and changing it each week with the character word and the key truths info as a nice reminder throughout the week.

First, you are so much fun and I love your entire tour!! Second, yes I would love to see additional videos! Third, for the chalk board, I would get those liquid chalk markers and include a blessing on your entire homeschool (or a biblical quote that you want your children to memorize). Have you heard the song, "The Blessing"? You could even put those lyrics up. Course that will cause you to sing the song every time you read it...lol. Anyways, have a wonderful and blessed homeschool year! :)

Hi Dana! Your homeschool room is gorgeous! I would love to have your talent for decorating. We use our kitchen table for homeschooling. And I store all the materials on a shelf in the playroom. Our target is completely wiped out of everything in the dollar section. I wish they would sell the dollar items on the Target website.
We are first year homeschoolers. We are going to be using our kitchen table mostly, with some independent work in the kiddos rooms. 😁😁
