Thank you so much for your videos! It’s gotten my girlfriend excited to come design and build stuff with me in the shop for our house. You’ve got a unique style that’s very enjoyable to watch and learn from.

Amazing looking bed, Shara! Fantastic work! 😃 It's looking beautiful in there! Looking forward to the match projects! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to build and share the other pieces! I hope you have a great weekend and I appreciate you watching and following along!
Thank you! I really debated on the stain color, but I’m happy with it! It matches the floor almost perfectly haha. Have a great 4th of July weekend as well!
So glad you enjoyed it! I love breaking this down so it doesn’t seem like such a huge undertaking. It’s just one piece at a time 😊 I appreciate you watching!
This is a great looking bed, Shara. I love the curve on the headboard. I'm looking forward to watching the remainder of the series. Thanks for sharing the video.
Welcome back! With a classic Shara-style build where plain ol' construction lumber becomes a thing of beauty. Love it. Nice to see Lucy... my guess was about one-quarter-right - but I'm still suspicious of those guys down at the mill 😂. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Haha I loved your guess about the guys at the lumber mill 🤣🤣 that cracked me up. To be honest, I’m pretty suspicious of them too! Thanks so much for watching. I can’t wait to build and share the rest of the series!
Haha I thought the same thing! She’s got a dog bed in every other room in the house, she might as well have this one too 🤣🤣 so glad you enjoyed the build. I appreciate you watching and following along!
Always love your designs Shara, plus the way you make them feel so easily accessible and accomplishable. So, even though I don’t “specifically” need to build the entire bed, I did just recently rescue an antique headboard from the side of the road (I live in High Point, NC, furniture capital of the world, so businesses often put stuff on the street…and yes, even the antique dealers!). Problem is, all I have is the headboard, so I may actually draw from your design on how to create sides, and maybe a footboard, that will stay low and out of the way. On a side note, it’s good to see you back on here! What’s it been, 3 weeks?? Entirely too long and unacceptable! 😠😉 Oh, and even though I didn’t catch any words-are-hard moments, I did draw quite a bit of amusement listening to the various sounds, and laughs, you made when stating that it was a LOT of sanding! Okay, Hope you have a good weekend and an amazing 4th of July holiday! 💥 🎇 🎆 Happy Birthday ‘Merica! 🎈 💥 🎆
Beautiful job Shara! Simple plans, simple materials, amazing results! Looking forward to the rest of this series. I hope you and your family have a great weekend!
Shara, Hope you have a great 4th. I think anyone building a bed like this will really appreciate the detail you put into this video, including the plans and links to other instructive videos. With a curve thrown in this is certainly a more challenging project. Once again your final result is outstanding! I think Lucy is thinking about that nap too. She had that look in her eye! Thanks for Sharing!
Wooow! Just beautiful, great job! My toxic trait is telling me if I grab a friend or 2 we can make this bed but without the curved headboard...any videos on how to make this a storage bed with drawers?
Hey I liked your clever clamp up method. LOL. I myself have used this method. Until one day I figured out. That if I went to the big box store, and bought a few dollar 3/4 pipe coupler and a length of pipe threaded on both ends. Could then pull out these pieces to add to my pipe clamp for those extra long projects. Just a little pipe clamp hack i came up with. Loving this build by the way!!!!
Super grateful for your videos and channel. You make building aesthetic home furniture so accessible! I will definitely be coming back to this video in the future

You did a beautiful job on the bed, Shara. I liked your plan for the panel in the headboard by making the dado in advance. The floors in that room are gorgeous and go with the new bed perfectly.
Thank you! It was actually an accident that the bed ended up matching the floors exactly, but they did! I hadn’t planned that haha. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate you watching!
Very, very nice build Shara! This is a great project that fills a void for many spare bedrooms. Thanks for sharing this one and glad that Lu made her mandatory appearance! Lol…. She sure is a beautiful dog! Have a great Independence Day!
I purchased this plan in a king size, and also your Glass door cabinet with drawer, which I am going to make into a gun cabinet for my son, presently in the US Air Force.
This bed is really beautiful. I have an old mdf headboard with a very similar curve to it that I upholstered the middle part of the headboard and painted the trim part awhile back. I may just have to upgrade soon. (And also if you get bored with yours, it's pretty easy to upholster. 😆)
Stunning piece Shara! I love it, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a head board or foot board at that. I think this is the one i would try to build it gives some sense of rustic-ness and I love it… great build thanks for sharing.

Looks great! Definitely feel you pain with the wood prices/selection. I have built one of your bed designs before. I just wanted to mention for someone who has not the bed looked and functioned great the only thing I didnt like was the 11" side rails because it limited what you could store under the bed ( In my case, suitcases). So if a builder on here plans to store things under the bed but like this design keep that in mind and just make the side rails smaller. Absolutely no hate to you Shara love your designs and easy to follow plans.
That’s a great point! I like my side rails deep to avoid needing a box spring and to make sure it is not going to sag in the middle. But, it does limit the room you have to slide things underneath. The space is there, you just may have to lift the mattress to access it. So it would be more like hidden storage 😅 haha
Beautiful. I have been wanting to make a bed. That headboard looked a little tricky but turned out perfect. I had one thought though...would it be cheaper to use like a 2x6 or 2x8 for side rails? For inside support for slats to sit on..a 2x4 attached to the 2x6 or 2x8......and of course 1x3 or 1x4 for slats... Plywood is so darn expensive right now and plus you did more cutting that way. Not sure which is cheapest but it would be easier to do the boards instead of plywood. What's your thoughts? I realllllly love that bed though. Great job!
Thank you! I see what you’re saying and…maybe? You’d have to sit down and do the math to know for sure. But my thoughts…you’d already need the plywood for the head and footboard, and if you bought 8 ft boards for the slats, you’d have a lot of waste. Using plywood for all of it gives you little waste (in provide the plywood cut diagrams in the plans). While expensive, I doubt it would save you much to use 2xs and 1xs instead and you’d likely waste a lot less in the process sticking with ply. But it would work either way. I just don’t know that it’s going to make much of a price difference.
This good design. Could I modify it? I was thinking about a storage headboard with a slanted board in front to recline against. Maybe I contact you or in the comments. I have bought some wood for the frame. Was wondering what is the best way to make it. Would 3/4" or 5/4 wood work for the sides? I have the 2 x 8 wood from an old water bed frame. Have started sanding to remove the stain. Also I bought a 5/4 x4 molding with a bull nose. Was thinking about laying in flat on the rail to have a round edge. I see you have the mattress higher than the rail. Glad I subscribed and great video.
Thanks so much for following along! You can definitely modify as needed. There are a million ways to build practically the same thing. I used 3/4” for the rails, but you could go thicker if you wanted.
I’ve used plywood for several beds at this point (usually doubled up on with the inside support where the rails sit) and they’re all doing fine. Not had any issues using plywood.
Thank you! I just brush it on. I have a guide for how I finish furniture here: www.woodshopdiaries.com/how-to-finish-raw-wood-furniture-without-a-sprayer/
I pick out the best boards I can find before buying and I run the edges through the table saw to get rid of the rounded corners. Sometimes I use a planer to smooth the top and bottom if they’re rough, but rarely.
You mentioned wood prices. Is it bad im thinking of buying 2 generic shelving units and "skinning" them in thinner plywood to avoid the cost of 3/4. Ha
