    And yet, repentence is required of people from all cultures. The gospel is not just about solving our personal problems, like feeling of guilt, shame or fear.
    Our guilt is a result of actually breaking the law of God.
    Our shame is a result of our turning away from (or even rejection of) our loving creator
    Our fear is a result of our obedience to idols (by which we give them power over us) instead of obedience to God (if my understanding of the concepts is correct).
    The concept of sin covers all of these dimensions and the gospel covers our sin in every of those aspects: Jesus takes the punishment for our guilt, he takes the shame of our rebellion (Heb 12:2) and he took our curse by becoming a curse when he was crucified (Gal. 3). Thus he restores our innocence, gives us honor and sets us free from fear, when (and IF) we repent and believe in him! Every culture may emphasize some of those more than the others.
    But in my opinion, we should not just preach one and forget the others, but learn to preach the gospel in all of these 3 dimensions. If we preach biblically, this should not be a problem, because the Bible apperently covers all 3 dimensions :)

      Amen. That is exactly what we were hoping that this video would accomplish. A greater understanding of the gospel and how God's plan of redemption is much more than (although it includes) the forgiveness of sins. All cultures probably gravitate more towards one aspect of the gospel as a starting point, but our job is to make disciples in a way that their understanding of the gospel continually grows. Like you said, people repenting and having their minds changed until their thoughts and deeds line up with God's word. Great comment!

      We probably all feel all three (guilt, shame, fear) to varying degrees depending on our cultural influences. Being able to recognize and relate to each individual's own starting place can help us have a good conversation and hopefully result in a full understanding of the Gospel and their reception of it and Christ.

      @@globalfrontiermissions yes i noticed also that there really is little difference across cultures when it comes to sin and repentance . i often say , the message as first outline in Acts chapter two .. and then taken to multiple cultures in the middle east by the early church with AStounding success ,is first delivered on differing platters . but the message itself must never be deviated from. belief - repentance - baptism - holy spirit .

    What if the norms are not honorable?

    • @globalfrontiermissions
      @globalfrontiermissions  Год назад

      Great question. In 1 Corinthians 9:19-23, Paul writes about becoming all things to all people, so that by all possible means some might be saved for the sake of the gospel. In that, we must pray and discern how to do that without compromising the integrity of the gospel and its teachings. We both honor the culture, and honor the Word of God.

    • @globalfrontiermissions
      @globalfrontiermissions  6 лет назад

      That probably is more theologically accurate, but not sure that it takes away from the points that the video is trying to make.

    • @jeremiahyonemura
      @jeremiahyonemura 4 года назад

      No, Jesus is willing that NO ONE should perish but that ALL should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9). So, Jesus died for everyone because of His great love for all (therefore paying for all) (John 3:16-17), but only those who believe and endure to the end shall be saved (Matthew 24:12-13).
      (BTW, I'm not the maker).

    But you didn't give a gospel response for the western individualism culture. ?

    • @danielsaezv
      @danielsaezv 4 года назад +2

      The video is somewhat helpful, and yet it is still told from a completely western perspective. Individualism by no meas is biblical. God calls his people to a community. It misses also misses the positive side of the power of God in our lives in fear-power cultures. I agree with the comment above that true biblical preaching should address all three worldviews, and highlight the blessings that the Gospel brings to all. I'm glad though, that at least this topic gets addressed. Most evangelicalism in America only focuses on personal guilt-innocence is highly individualistic, looks in a condescending way to the other worldviews. The irony is that because of that individualism, it fails to recognize the ways that an entire community can be guilty because of sins of lack of love, apathy, sins of omission.

    I DON'T BUY IT. I've preached the gospel worldwide, and I'm yet to find a culture that doesn't have laws and punishments for crimes. The Gospel is clearly presented in Scripture in terms of a courtroom, the just substituting Himself for the unjust. If substitution is absent when you preach, you have failed to preach the Gospel.

      @@melwofford6099 I've been taught this concept for seven years now, and I'm telling you that if the gospel isn't presented in terms of substitution (the innocent for the guilty), it isn't the gospel.
      You need to actually refute my comment or else I'd say you missed the whole point of what I said.

    • @globalfrontiermissions

      Hey @@matthewtarpley948! We just released a new video about the Gospel of the Kingdom that also shares about the need for Christians to proclaim not only that Jesus is Savior, but also that “Jesus is King” and “Jesus is Lord”. The Gospel definitely includes substitutionary atonement, but it may include even more Good News than that. There are many atonement theories that can be justified biblically; what if all of them give us different lenses, perspectives, and insights on this great, glorious Gospel? At our Missionary Training School, we get a concordance or Bible program and look up the words “Gospel” and “Good News” and find every time in Scripture those words are mentioned and try to answer the question holistically looking at all of Scripture “What is our message?” Blessings as you continue to study the Scriptures and share the Gospel worldwide.

    • @matthewtarpley948
      @matthewtarpley948 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@globalfrontiermissions I agree that there are aspects of many atonement theories that contain truth. The Gospel is much more than substitution, but certainly nothing less. My concern is that missionaries may present Christ in the fear/power category, and people would make professions of faith in Christ merely because He is stronger than the evil spirits around them. Yet, they have not understood their sin and the fact that they're deserving of damnation and that Christ bore their sin and rose from the dead. It is more than substitution, but it can never be less.
      Thanks for your reply!
