- When it comes to photography locations, I like to find several things when I arrive on site. I want something that is raw nature at its finest and this can be rugged cliffs and monster waves, I am particularly fond of jagged formations and more particularly gnarly sea stacks.
When I first heard of this location I was in disbelief that it was in Ireland and also that it was as stunning in real life as I saw in the images from my buddy Bernard. I had also planned to visit here while I had Gavin visiting last year, however, due to time constraints and time of year, we didn’t take the journey to see it. This year however I was going to rectify that.
I was on a few day’s adventure with Bernard and even before I had sat into my van to take the journey up to him, I knew that we were going to have to visit this spot, It had everything I wanted and I was sure there would be a lot more, so off I went on my adventure, with a skip in my step, knowing that I would be on location soon.

Fairplay lads great ambassadors for the country ! By far the best photography Ive seen in such a long time ! fantastic location and you both really brought the best out !!
Glad you enjoyed it Pat, it was fairly epic alright :-)
I particularly enjoyed the Boss distortion pedal you applied to your voice during that phone convo. Lovely creamy overdriven saturation that most metal guitar players would love to apply to their tone line ;)
lolz, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that pedal you mention, but come to think of it perhaps it was my over-excited hand when editing, to bring up your sexy phone voice :-)
Fanatastic! Loved the video, now I really want to see Ireland
You should!
Amazing video amazing seascape amazing fotos. Ireland never fails to deliver nor do Darren and Bernard. 5 stars lads
Thanks a lot , really appreciate that Joseph
Great video Darren, as an Irish landscape photography enthusiast myself I appreciate your efforts to maintain this beautiful location's relative secrecy. Now to spend an hour on google maps...unless you want to provide a clue or two....
Haha
The clues are in there for sure 💪
Thanks for watching
@@DarrenJSpoonley found it 😉
Class looking place. Must visit it sometime and sample the alcohol 🍺
Ahh the pints were fresh for sure dude 💪
The Emerald Isle delivers once again and it wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for your trips and adventures, bringing it to us each and every week. The next time I'm in Europe I'll have to make the homecountry a priority to visit. Cheers buddy, class video 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you very much Buddy
The door is always open
Great video and images! I noticed in the description you were shooting with the Canon R. I just got one. Hate and love it at the same time.
Thank you very much Delighted you enjoyed it
What don’t you love about it ?
That was some adventure Darren! Another class video and a pleasure to be part of! Definitely some of your best photos too!
One of the finest for sure Pal
Oh YESSSSSS count me in for a workshop with ye two legends 🎉🎉🎉
Brilliant stuff John
Location is unreal!!!
It sure is Pal! World class ! Thanks for watching
That was spectacular & the ocean was perfect. Wish I could visit just to breath the air at that location.
Thank you Darren & Bernard.
Images were amazing
Thank you very much Ann! It was fresh :-)
Just fantastic photos love it good on you two and great light for your trip there on that day ,all the best and thanks Darren and Bernard .

Thank you very much ! Yeah it’s an incredible place for sure ! Thanks for watching Delighted you enjoyed it
Two legends one workshop good crack epic locations it’s a no brainier. Count me in 👌🏻👌🏻.
Great stuff Rodney
Great video Darren. During my first trip to Donegal I remember thinking that I'd have to go to Scotland maybe to see rugged coastline like it. Absolutely stunning location. I didn't see that when I was there. What's it called please?
Thank you very much ! Delighted you enjoyed it
Thanks for watching
11:09 - the rocks on either side don’t add much to the composition imo, so in this case, definitely the portrait shot.
I agree
An amazing location and some beautiful images. You were obviously having a great time
Absolutely Ralph! The smile was from ear to ear :-)
It is about time you and BG teamed up. Yes.
Thank you very much Chris
Great shots, great location, great job 👍 well done and keep up the good work 💪👍
Thanks a lot!
What a beautiful location loved the images you captured here mate the sea stacks are just such a great subject, loved it !
Many thanks Lee! It was a fantastic Adventure ! A truly world class location
Fantastic Darren, I am visiting Ireland in September, I cannot wait .
Brilliant! 🇮🇪📷💪
Absolutely beautiful location! Yes, I would LOVE to join an Ireland workshop. I just do not feel like I could do any driving to get to the different locations or I might end up with a race car driver behind me wondering why I can’t seem to drive very well on the left side of the road 😊 So if there is ever a workshop where I do not have to drive, I am in!!
Thanks Tara, yeah that's the plan anyway, so you will be in luck :-)
It has been a while since I was there, always spectacular. Looks like you had a blast.
Ohh we sure did Peter! It’s a stunning playground
It's funny this video came up. I was just looking at planning a trip there
Ahh brilliant ! It’s class
I've seen young children less happy on Christmas Morning than you two! Great vlog and images which showed off the beauty of Ireland incredibly well. It would be interesting to see details of a workshop with you and Bernard as I've wanted to visit Ireland for photography probably ever since I discovered your channel. Presumably any workshop would include unlimited craic and Guiness, oh and maybe a bit of photography too?
I was a tad excited for sure Mark :-) Delighted you enjoyed it , I’ll add you to the list and will be back in touch once we get details together
And yes, Guinness features on all menus :-)
I think we can safely say you enjoyed that. Looking forward to behind the raw. Guess you’ve got to be very disciplined how many shots you take there or you would be editing for a month🙌🙌
Yeah for sure! Altho I still have many images that I have in the bank from the visit :-)
Great video Darren. Recently found your channel. Very helpful, thanks. Where is this or is it a secret?
Welcome! It’s in Donegal
@@DarrenJSpoonley thanks. Bought your location guides. Hope that narrows it down 🤣. Keep up the good work
Epic location! Great photos! Of the two at around 11:30, I prefer the vertical. Side note: that raptor was not a kestrel. The tail is too short and the wings are too broad. It looked more like a buzzard. Cheers!
I am no bird expert, definitely not! But I think it was a kestrel. It hoovered for ages in the scene scooping the ground flapping its wings! I am definitely open to correction man!
@@bglandscapetoursdefo Buzzard
Thank you very much John, I liked both of those also ! Thanks for the info on the bird type
When are your workshops? I’m in Galway from 26th July til August 20th. And how much like?
Hi Susan, nothing fixed in place yet, just assessing appetite at the moment ! I’ll add you to the possible list
@@DarrenJSpoonley oh grand so. Sure maybe I’ll hit you up when I’m home and could do a bit of tuition 🤷♀️. I think my family gets tired of me dragging them out Connemara all the time 🤣
looks like a Buzzard not a kestrel
Yeah you could be right @johndrummond mentioned that before too ! Thanks for watching
Thankfully, you slipped in a few shorter exposures. Otherwise it would have been a total waste (to my taste, anyway)
Best avoid next week
