According to Justin Eldridge on the Nine Club Experience, he overheard Manchild saying this on the phone to someone. They didn't rehearse that or anything. When he was talking on this commercial, that was recorded over the phone in real life and they just put it in the video. lol They literally did everything he said as he was just rambling off ideas. Ha. Awesome.
Those shoes have got to be a homage to the old Airwalk Reflex 87. Tony used to wear them all the time. I started skating when Animal Chin came out and thought those shoes and his skating on the Chin ramp was THE most amazing thing I'd ever seen. I blagged my parents into buying me a pair and was so stoked. Still skating 33yrs later. Go look them trainers up. You'll see what I mean. 👊🏻
It's definitely inspired from Tony's old Airwalk shoe. It looks way too much like it for it not to be. The only difference is there isn't an ankle strap. (The Airwalk shoe did have an ankle strap, didn't it?)

The old Vision Street Wear DV8 trainers had a sick ankle strap though. Man! I love those old 80s and 90s skate boots!! They look quite rough now but...ahh! Nostalgia!!
