I could tell from the start of watching your videos that I could trust everything I’m learning from you, including the product reviews. Thank you for that.
First of all, I appreciate your integrity in the products you share and advertise on your channel. These are the things we need to know, as weekenders. We would never have known about some of these products and services, if not for your channel. Also, thank you for your transparency about how to make money using RUclips and patreon. So glad it’s giving you the life you dreamed of! See you at Moore! PS, we found a tent we are excited to be picking up at Moore!
Matt, Great stuff. I've stated before in my comments that while I started my little channel jeepNdirt for fun and have received many compliments from friends and local subscribers, the work that's put into making a video then turning it into income is significant and most don't realize it. Your humble sharing of this "life" you live still doesn't do any justice to the amount of work you're actually putting in. For that reason I say great job and God bless you man. I share similar thoughts. I too wish to just be honest with folks and share a little humor, a little fun, and just be positive and encouraging. If I get 10 views or 100k it doesn't matter. If I only help motivate one person to go out and enjoy our natural resources, or to smile, or to become a jeeper, or inspire someone to do something outside their comfort zone, then in God's eye's I've served them. You, Shaun, Nate, Brad, Casey, and Epic Family Road Trip all have been my inspiration. I'm only able to get a video out every few months due to the "gotta work for a living" syndrome, but all jokes aside it's just fun and I feel blessed that I can do the things that I do. Thank you for doing what you do brother.
Hi Matt, thank you for the content! It’s a shame certain individuals don’t take pride in maintaining our parks. Thank you for all you do for the off-road and overlanding community. 😊
Thanks for giving us some insight on how you guys make money, some transparency. I feel sometimes those that don't want to be transparent are probably hiding something. If you're doing what you feel is right, there's no reason to hide. I appreciate your candor and your values in parading items in front of us (or not) and being honest about what works and what doesn't. Best of luck to you. Each time I take a trip I think of you and Brad and others and wonder how you do it. I wouldn't have the patience even though I'd love to share my travels.
As someone who pays to not see commercials on YT, I appreciate your approach on unrelated advertising. I enjoy your content but what stands out to me is your heart.
This is why I look up to you Matt you are a inspirational individual and yes your wife included in that as well, your content and what you give back in information makes our adventures just a little bit better than it could have been with out your feedback THANK YOU and looking forward to seen y'all in Springfield
We just started our channel and greatly appreciate this video!! You answered some of the questions I was curious about. Definitely want one of those phone bars!
You guys being the great people you are is why myself and so many other choose to support you. I am also super thankful that we have become friends as well. See you guys in April.
You seem so genuine. It’s honestly confusing to me. We as a society are so inundated with bad reviews and people just looking to make a dollar that it gets to a point where I have stopped believing any RUclipsr. But thank you for what seems to be a good honest point of view.
Nice video. My buddy is a youtuber and I am in quite a few of his videos. This info is great! Most will never tell you this. He doesn't do sponsorship because so many think you are pitching the product. Fishing gear reviews is our bread and butter. Thanks for sharing!
I think this is the first video about how the financial end of being a youtuber/social media influencer that I have seen- that I actually watched all the way through. Im already a Big fan of you and your family adventures and this really gave me a sense of what it was that attracted me in the first place. Straight up and honest- that's what you find here! I am a small business man myself and I understand how it is to make decisions that affect other people and in my case there safety and the longevity of there vehicles. I like what you said - Iam very blessed and I try my best to stay small ,humble, I love my work and like I said I am very thatnkful! Just an FYI- I got so inspired I took my F150 to Bundy hill offroad park and I liked it so much just bought a 2016 JKU Rubicon, and its older with good miles but I am loving it and gonna get after some of those trails you been showing us- Ozarks!!!!!
Glad you do what you do, I just started exploring the Ozarks because of your channel. Just cant believe that I lived in Arkansas for over 20 years and never been up that way. Lots of awesome views. Hope one day to run into you, would love to pick your brain on all kinds of things.
Great video , thanks for the information. I briefly met you in Colorado last year at Overland Expo. Meeting you and Marco from Ovrlndx was so cool to me yall have been huge influences in my life and why I got into overlanding.
Absolutely love the videos you put out. This one especially! I camp and overland as often as I can but 2022 was a little rough and I had to put some things aside for awhile. But this year I’m finally ready to start my journey on RUclips. I don’t really care about the money or sponsorship stuff. I have a 2012 F150 and I have paid for everything on it myself. From the tent to the tires and wheels. But the journey is what I’m after. Also to be able to share that with others who don’t have the time or aren’t financially capable. Your videos have been an inspiration and I look forward to seeing them. It’s nice to see someone who isn’t just pitching products for money but is actually using something because it serves a purpose for them. Everything I have purchased for my truck is because it serves a direct purpose for what I will be doing. And I wish more were like that. But keep up the great work!!!
Just bought a winch and some gear on your recommendation. I truly trust your opinion. I have been camping since I was a youngster now 51 and I love your product reviews. I also had a 90s Cherokee a 06 rubicon TJ and just recently purchased a 2020 JTM. Thanks for the content.
The timing of this video was impeccable! I’m a small RUclips channel with similar content and I was just contacted by my first company to sponsor my channel. Super excited about it but also want to give my honest review. Thanks for this one, Matt.
HUGE thank you for this video, Matt! You helped answer several questions I've been asking myself for a while now about how I can work towards making this into something we can make a living out of some day. Like a lot of like minded people in this hobby, we have the same dream of leaving the rat race behind for good someday (preferably sooner than later) and spending our time traveling, exploring and doing what we love as close to full time as possible. We're still small and have very little content, subscribers, etc. due to current obligations and "life happens" keeping us from going out as much as we would like, as well as me trying to learn all the ins and outs of filming, production and post production but, God willing, it'll happen one day. There's just SO much to consider and learn and this video helped put some of it into perspective for me. Keep doing what y'all do and we'll continue to follow along so the fire within us keeps burning. Hope to have the chance to meet y'all on the trail someday, so until then, safe travels!
Good honest video. Both of you have great content. No one should be Debbie Downers about RUclipsrs making money. You are working your tail off and have tons on knowledge.
Great video. I have definitely heard that YT paying out is unpredictable. Thank you for putting in the work and sharing how you did it. I am not monetized and don't have a ton of Patrons but you inspire me to keep working hard.
It was truly nice to watch the video and listen to your Honest Manner and reasoning for all the Choices that you make and do promote the Items That You Need To Have To Get You Where You Go And Know That You Will Be ABLE TO Return Is What We All Need To See From An Honest RUclipsr That Cares About What You Wanna Know Others Can Count On, Or YOU'LL Refuse To Lie To Anyone At Any Cost ! Thanks...
Gotta say, I think the Dots cheese curls would have made an amazing end to the video…. not because I wanted it to end, but it just appealed to my sense of humor. Great work, regardless - very informative and entertaining. Way to go Matt!
Now that I have deleted the 5 paragraph rant about people complaining that you have your GPX files as a patreon bonus. To be honest, I have been a fan of your chanel for over a year now. Sadly it is not in my budget to support a number of channels I truly wish I could. I think your offering GPX files is a wonderful thing. I plan on visiting family out in colorado in a year or so, and if nothing else, I will be dropping you a few bucks even if only for a month or two to get the colorado trip files for myt trip :) But seriously. It is a great idea... I am disappointed to hear people got their knickers in a twist over it. I for one, think it is a great service that I intend to replicate when I get my own channel up and running. You are one of a hand full of channels in many topics that I follow that does us fans the courtesy of giving us realistic and straightforward information. THANK YOU!
I love how open and honest you are about your channel and content. I feel like you’re talking directly to me. Like a subliminal message saying “hey, you too can do this! You want to do this! Go do this right now!” 😂
Thank you for explaining your approach to creating income with your content. I just started following your channel a couple of weeks ago and it has quickly become one of my faves.
Wow Matt, great video! You have answered a lot of questions that I had about the way RUclips operates. I have a ton of respect for you for putting out this video, and it really does show how genuine a person you are. I have enjoyed your channel for some time now and greatly appreciate the quality of your videos. Thank you for what you do and I truly wish you great success.
I'm glad to hear you only promote what you believe in. Love the transparency. Having just found you recently I have a lot of catching up to do! Excuse me while I load the next video 😂
I’m a subscriber and have watched many of your videos and up to now have never commented but for this Video I had to tell you that I enjoy it more than any I’ve seen. It felt like a conversation with a good friend. Great Job.
Hey Matt, long time viewer and fan. Never posted a comment before today. I believe I asked a question during one of your live stream’s that you did last year on your way back from Colorado testing out Star Link with one of your fellow You Tuber with a Tundra. Just wanted to say that I love your content. Loved your comment about the individuals who are not raised right.
It's good you are open and explain as many others like X overland buld this truck like nothing, but each truck builds cost like 30 K. I'm not even taking about the cost of the truck. My point is people should not be misleaded and jump on Overland than spend all family budget.
Matt, You and your Wife have given so much to this community. I really appreciate it. My Wife & I are looking forward to running into you guys someday out on one of our Adventures. You both have helped me encourage my Wife to do more outside of her comfort zone. Thank you for sharing your experiences and advice with us.
HI Matt, I rarely post on the video's I watch now I've posted twice in a row on yours. This was such a great video, not just for the content but for the way you delivered it. Taking us alone on the ride was a way to show what you do on your talking points about why/how/reasons the money comes in, like you said it's a full time job. Plus I'm sure Casey and Shaun are going to see this too, nice shout out to them, being Canadian we do have some great content makers but not as many as south of the boarder !!! Thanks brother
Terrific video. Like the "SAFETY2ND" shirt! Ordered the hoodie last week. I appreciated your decision making process for selecting which companies you choose to market. With any luck, Dots will reach out to you soon!
I have noticed an absence of superfluous info on your videos. You have done an exceptional job at keeping it relevant and it appears like a natural extension of who y’all are as people! I also would like to add that you remember how daunting it is for us newbies when researching products. It can be so overwhelming so we look to those who we feel we can trust to steer us in some sort of direction! I have been watching you since early 2016 when living and driving trails in the Ozarks was just some far off dream. Now that we are here it means even more to us to be able to get further insights from your channel and others like yours! Being that you are local adds a level of authenticity and trust! Thanks for the videos and being who you are! Shalom!38:32
Great video, appreciate the transparency. It's interesting to hear how things work 'behind the scenes', and in turn how we the audience are able to hear about various products and also see the amazing places you go (which is most important) - because everybody knows gas isn't free and the reality is it is a cost. Not only that but it provides others, who maybe don't have the means or ability to get out this way, to still 'live' it. Integrity is huge, and not everyone has that - and I certainly hope others (and sponsors) appreciate that aspect of your channel! I would be curious to hear how you got into this off road world and what you and your wife did before discovering the 'overland' world.
Thanks! I used to be a pastor then went into sales and got lucky with the youtube channel taking off during Covid. My wife has worked pharmacy for over 20 years and still does part time. I've being off roading and overlanding for 11 years now.
Love you stuff and appreciate this video. I have asked other Tubers and they were not open. Why not sure. I hope to meet you and you wife in the future. Thanks Again - great stuff
Keep us updated on that DOTS supply. Best pretzels of the Midwest for sure. Love everything about this video. Thanks for staying true to yourself even as you’re channel continues to grow and reach so many people and businesses. Mattress companies also.
Matt, that was probably the best video on the subject I've seen. My wife and I also want to full-time overland when we "retire" so I've watched several. Appreciate your detail and honesty on the subject! 👍
A few glaring reasons why you are very successful, coming from a person who was a news and documentary cameraman for nearly 30 years. Firstly, you are great on camera; ethical, knowledgeable and understated humor. You compose beautiful shots and utilize a tripod. You are super great with your editing. Just my observations. Love your stuff and thank you for all of the very useful information!
Wow Matt, thank you for your honesty, integrity and all of the great info and scenery that you share! I hope to run into you one of these days, shake your hand and thank you in person. You and Kiera deserve a great RUclips life!! I hope I spelled you wifes name correctly. 🙂
Well said hitting all the areas. Great hearing your over all thoughts and perspective. As for the beer can collection we were disappointed we didn't get to see another toilet recovery. We haven't recovered from all the laughs on that one! Mark (& Teresa) Maryland
Absolutely loved this video. Im thinking of starting a RUclips channel. I have no expertise in it but willing to learn. I’m an older fella but I love the outdoors and exploring is a great passion of mine. So thank you for what you guys do. We have met before at Rocky Mountain west last year.
Rand McNally doesn’t own the highways, bi-ways or city streets, but they sure made a ton money off of selling atlases and maps. You’ve put in the work of plotting these trails and campsites so your time is worth some compensation. Keep up the great work!!
Awesome. July is rough with heat and high humidity and lots of mosquitos but it can be done. Check out the Ozark Overland Adventure Trail. It's a 5 day route I put together that I think you would enjoy.
Really appreciate such a thorough explanation! As a new channel this is all a mystery to us. We're both working full time "day jobs" and putting a lot of effort into making videos too. We started making videos just to share our travels with family and friends, not realizing how much work it takes to make great videos. You have worked hard to get to where you are! We do enjoy the process of making videos though, so would do it even without the potential financial benefit, but of course would like to get to a place someday where we can support our travel with our channel. Love that you work to maintain the integrity of your channel also. That is important to us as well - you did a great job explaining how tempting it can be when you're a new channel and offers start rolling in. We can't imagine that happening at this point, lol, but at least we'll be more prepared now if it does! Thanks for all the work you put in and for demystifying this topic.
Like the mix of information and adventure on this one. What I think most don't realize is the amount of time spent researching and plotting out routes to run and sometimes they're a bust and sometimes they're a hit. Love to share and inspire with those who I think will be respectful, unfortunately I have been burned a few times because of my generosity. Point I'm trying to make is I totally get the Patreon thing and agree with you in regards to those who support are more likely to leave it better than they found it.
Thanks for the video. Amazing how you can do this full time. Can't even get views let alone imagine actual income from doing this. You've done a lot of hard work and it shows.
Random stranger: So what line of work are in? Matt: Oh I don’t get in any lines, especially the work line. Full time play cuz I’m kinda a big deal. 😂 Love your videos! You definitely have put content out that will help me build my rig out to go have some fun.
Great vid buddy. It's helpful for people to understand more about how all this works and there are definitely some weird "hatred" that comes from people when someone else makes money off their content. Not sure why, but I say do what you love and if people like it, they'll support you!
Very good information Thankyou! If I ever decide to push my channel in the future this info is invaluable. That's why I take your advice with product. You actually use it. Much appreciated.
I can’t believe you talked about all of this mostly ad-lib. Just off the top of your head. And composed very well! You can tell you have a lot of experience about the subject and have a gift for telling people about it. I think it’s part of why your channel is so successful! Keep it up! Hopefully we can hit the trail together someday! I’d really like to visit the Ozark from what I’ve seen on your channel.
when my channel grows up, I would like to have a few products sent my way for review one day for an honest review. I can honestly say that I appreciate your integrity in the products you choose to review and advertise on your channel. Although most are out out my price range but at least I can say without a doubt that it will be a good product.
I (unfortunately) don't support you as a Patreon (for reasons I don't need to go in to here), I will support you by subscribing, commenting and liking each video I watch. You work hard for every dollar you make! In just this video there are multiple water crossings which involve stopping, setting up a camera in a stream, getting back in, driving across far enough to be out of view and then going back to retrieve your gear. Just typing that tired me out! Add in the drone shots and your videos become cinematic works of art. The gear reviews are helpful whether you paid for the gear or not. You are honest about them. So for any 'haters' out there, I would like to see them shoot a video, edit and post it, all within a week. In some cases you do two a week. Bonus? You and Cara are both cool people. Would love to go out for a trip with you guys one day.
I really enjoyed this video, I'm slowly getting into doing videos and starting my RUclips page. This was very informative, and I learned a lot. Thank you so very much.
Hey Matt, interesting info. Side note, on your last video you showed us your new tailgate trash bag. I've been looking for something like that for years and there it was. Kinda funny when the Pierre emailed me in regards to my order and asked if I found this product through you. Cool guy and talked briefly about our military service. Anyways, thank you for the content you provide and keep up the good work.
👏 Great video! It was super informative to hear the mechanics of how this all works. As a gear provider we get people approaching us daily to just send them free gear with the promise of great content and access to their subscribers. We recognize the impact RUclips and social media can have on a business like ours and completely agree with you that it needs to be done with integrity and without bias. 👍
Hi Matt, love your channel. I bought a '21 Gladiator (traded in my '14 JK & sold my '99 TJ to do it) and I love it! Obviously that's one reason why I watch your channel each week. Wanted to ask you, your side steps look to be integrated with rock rails, where did you get them? Take care and keep on exploring!
You really nailed it on the head here Matt. I myself have questioned you about your gear choices here in the comments, and having you respond with your true, thought-out opinions has proven to be very valuable to me. And I'm sure it has been for most others as well. You've guided me to make purchases with confidence through your reviews/use in your videos. You, Cara AND GOOSE are very valuable assets to the overlanding/camping/outdoor community. Stay true and thanks for all you guys do. ~Dave
Awesome! I started watching the story till now and came across one of your videos and I said to myself. Well I’m right here in Arkansas too small business owner and I’m really leaning into the overlanding stuff! My family of 6 and I we are very outdoorsy staring our own farm and want to get out in some trails too. So I love jeeps I have personally a 2023 ram Rebel that I would love to gear up and try out in the trails!
Actually the recent video on the heavy duty breaks has been the best one yet. Because it is a very important issue. I like the safety videos most. I'll spend money on safety upgrades before others. Now to save up for a long lasting solar battery so we can start getting back out. With having a now disabled son from a motorcycle accident who loves the outdoors as much as we do is a must. He has been asking to get out. So if it helps with recovery I have to.
Great video and info. Our small channel was started so our girls can look back later in life. Full time is a great dream. Maybe some day. You answered a lot of questions I would have. Thanks.
I could tell from the start of watching your videos that I could trust everything I’m learning from you, including the product reviews. Thank you for that.
I appreciate that!
To quit your day job and overland full time is so surreal! Although I drive an FJ Cruiser, I still enjoy your videos!
First of all, I appreciate your integrity in the products you share and advertise on your channel.
These are the things we need to know, as weekenders. We would never have known about some of these products and services, if not for your channel.

To be honest, I have been a fan of your chanel for over a year now. Sadly it is not in my budget to support a number of channels I truly wish I could. I think your offering GPX files is a wonderful thing. I plan on visiting family out in colorado in a year or so, and if nothing else, I will be dropping you a few bucks even if only for a month or two to get the colorado trip files for myt trip :)
But seriously.
Thank You for Your Transparency and Real Life Experiences! Keep Up Great Work! 👍
Thank you! Will do!
Welcome aboard!
Awesome video to show one’s self worth and commitment to not only your viewers but one’s beliefs into product and content.
I’m a subscriber and have watched many of your videos and up to now have never commented but for this Video I had to tell you that I enjoy it more than any I’ve seen. It felt like a conversation with a good friend. Great Job.
Wow, thank you!
Matt,
You and your Wife have given so much to this community. I really appreciate it. My Wife & I are looking forward to running into you guys someday out on one of our Adventures. You both have helped me encourage my Wife to do more outside of her comfort zone.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and advice with us.
Thank you so much!!
Appreciate the honesty and transparency!
Thanks!!!
Agreed 100% -- best pretzels I have had.
Good to know, thank you for sharing this info with all of us!
Thank for making this video,as I am looking into starting a RUclips channel myself
Just subscribed, you seem like a genuine guy. Love the JT, just bought one and starting to plan a build.
Matt, that was probably the best video on the subject I've seen. My wife and I also want to full-time overland when we "retire" so I've watched several. Appreciate your detail and honesty on the subject! 👍
Great behind the channel video. Loved it!
Wow! Thanks so much!!
Wow Matt, thank you for your honesty, integrity and all of the great info and scenery that you share! I hope to run into you one of these days, shake your hand and thank you in person. You and Kiera deserve a great RUclips life!! I hope I spelled you wifes name correctly. 🙂
Lol. It’s fine!!! But Cara. 😂♥️
I appreciate the transparency. Definitely interesting learning about some of the potential streams of income.
Thanks so much!! Do it!!
Rand McNally doesn’t own the highways, bi-ways or city streets, but they sure made a ton money off of selling atlases and maps. You’ve put in the work of plotting these trails and campsites so your time is worth some compensation. Keep up the great work!!
You win my favorite comment ever award!!!!
Coming to the Ozark in July would like some input on what and where we should go. There for a week!
Awesome. July is rough with heat and high humidity and lots of mosquitos but it can be done. Check out the Ozark Overland Adventure Trail. It's a 5 day route I put together that I think you would enjoy.
Very helpful and gives me an idea for when our overland channel gets created.
Great transparency as usual sir!
Random stranger: So what line of work are in?
Matt: Oh I don’t get in any lines, especially the work line. Full time play cuz I’m kinda a big deal. 😂
Love your videos!
Thank you for your candor.
Link to the trash bag?
You two are my favorite You tubers , honest and down to earth
Thanks! Here you go. www.atelierxa.com/
Very good information Thankyou! If I ever decide to push my channel in the future this info is invaluable. That's why I take your advice with product. You actually use it. Much appreciated.
I appreciate that!
Thank you!!
when my channel grows up, I would like to have a few products sent my way for review one day for an honest review. I can honestly say that I appreciate your integrity in the products you choose to review and advertise on your channel. Although most are out out my price range but at least I can say without a doubt that it will be a good product.
Thanks for making such a candid video!
Thanks so much!!
Very informative ❤ love your content
As always, great video.
I'm hoping to get to my first Moore expo this year. My kids bought me tickets for Christmas
Probably the most informative video I have seen thanks for all the info and the Candacy
Glad it was helpful!
Matt,
Great video... great build on your Jeep...
Godspeed.
Thanks 👍
I really enjoyed this video, I'm slowly getting into doing videos and starting my RUclips page. This was very informative, and I learned a lot. Thank you so very much.
Glad it was helpful!
I do appreciate your honesty and thanks for sharing!
I appreciate that!
That's awesome!
Thank you!!
We met at Expo West last year. I showed your sleep system in my video on the Expo. It' was very impressive.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures it was much appreciated! We'll be at the Moore Expo in April and look forward to seeing you there.
Appreciate the insight and honesty!
Great video. Very informative!
thanks so much for all your content!
~Dave
Thanks so much!
Thanks for supporting other RUclipsrs making a living #Safety2nd
Always!
Always thought it was safety third. Look good, feel good, safety.
Love me some DOTS cheese curls!! Thanks for the informative video !
Great video man, just found your channel. Love the content!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks.
Lots of horse riding out there at Mt. Magazine so many of the camp sites are quite large.
