I can't tell you how happy I am to see you reacting to Zhou Shen (sounds like Joe). His English name is Charlie. He is amazing. I really hope you react to more of his work. He can sound ethereal like a bell or violin and then he can easily in the next breath switch tones to sound like a completely different person. Its amazing to hear. His voice can put you into a trance or transport you to a different place. He is called a walking CD because he sounds better live than the studio version. Also because his repertoire is extensive. He has recorded over 90 original soundtracks for movies and is in high demand. He is also releasing his second and much anticipated album. He iurs an incredibly humble and funny guy. He is called the Little Prince, a Treasure Boy, and is much loved by his international fandom called Shengmi. A few facts - his voice never changed as a boy and he stopped singing as a teenager since he was often bullied for his voice. Thank God he found the courage to sing again. People are suggesting a lot of older performances but his voice just keeps improving and he keeps challenging himself, so it seems a pity to recommend the same stuff they recommended in 2020. Why everyone talking about Zhou Chen, but no one about Sa Dingding? :/ I really recommend some Sa Dingding's old stuff, she was amazing folk artist, now she is unfortunately completely different than she used to be... And about incredible high vocals, I really recommend Queen Bee - Fire live performance from The First Take RUclips channel. Queen Bee is japanese band and their vocalist Avu-chan is transgender person, she can sing with both male and female voices and her vocal range is just insane! Also really recommend japanese artist Kokia, she is the best female singer I've ever heard, she is classically and operatically trained, but it's not her main technique/style of singing, but I recommend song "Il Mare Dei Suoni" live from History concert tour 2012, there you can hear her amazing soprano, about something different, I recommend song "Gematria" live from Layers ~Lights and Shadows~ concert 2016, there are many back vocals, all recorded by Kokia, song inspired on buddhist mantras and in not existing language created for this song (more like mix of few languages with also using gematria, it's way of writing words by using numbers), because like she said, emotions are the same in all languages, this song is like journey.

I've loved Sa Ding Ding for years (commenters seem to think only one person is singing?). Went to her concert here in Ireland. And she was in the C-drama TV series Ashes of Love to which this song belongs. The series is about gods, fairies & demons. It's too bad no research into the background of the music is done. Sa Ding Ding chose Zhou Shen to sing with her because he can match her high notes.
There are a lot of great voices and great songs from China. My top favourite is Youth (or Juvenile) from Mira, where she sings about never giving up on your dreams. Outstanding!
Zhou Shen has an unbelievable range and can also sing in tenner and even as low as baritone. And Sa Dingding has one of the most beautiful female voices in China. They both can sing in multiple languages. And yes this song was made for a Chinese fantasy series on TV, and Sa Dingding acted in it. I believe he was 18 at this time and she was 42. It was an outdoor concert fir the autumn lunar holiday and that was the real moon behind them, the "butterflies" were actually lunar moths created with drones.
Welcome to Zhou Shen's angelic world of songs! Hope you will slowly unravel his talent - what have been said so far about him - he has many hit songs himself, but whenever he sings a cover version, he will do it in his own interpretation of the song and many a time did even better than the original singers. Do note he is a talented linguist, able to sing not only in Chinese, Cantonese, Chinese opera, western yodelling, opera, theatrical songs, and also sing fluently in English, Italian, Ukrainian, Russian, Japanese etc....happy reacting discovery 😊
You really need to check out Taka from One Ok Rock, a Japanese rock band. He covers Hello and Easy on me from Adele in the original key. :) But I would suggest to try Take what you want from the 2018 Japan dome tour, it will blow your mind. I think he is currently one of the best singers out there hands down.
Oh Sam you are really missing a lot, if you don't check out Chinese singers. Some truly amazing voices. My favourite genre is Rock so Hua Chenyu (Hua Hua, whom you have seen before) is my favourite. But, I have to say Zhou Shen is just so amazing. Check out his "Big Fish", "Dalabengba", and "Heavens Island". Zhou Shen (Charlie) also has lots of English songs in his Repertoire. There is a beautiful video on RUclips where Katie Sky (who wrote "Monsters") actually REACTS to Zhou Shen singing HER song. She was so impressed, that she then returned the compliment by singing Zhou Shen's "Big Fish" in Mandarin. Zhou Shen has a beautiful version of "Memory".. so much better than Elaine Paige (who I find nasally).
Zhou Shen (Charlie) appeared on a Competition show called "Super Vocal". You may like some of the singers on that. Gao Tian He (Neil) has a fun version of "She is my sin". Cai Chengyu and Ma Jia have a simply stunning version of "Grande Amore" which shows how tiring singing can be, until you are fully trained. (Cai, only 21 at the time) was shattered by the end, whereas Ma, with more training was less breathless. There is also a brilliant take on Beyonce "Halo" (sung by 4 strapping 6 foot plus guys.. Cai Chenyu, Ju Hongchuan, Kai Weng and Yu Di). I can't hear "Halo" without seeing THEIR version now. 😂 The winners (Ju Hongchuan, Cai Chengyu, and Ayanga), formed a group "Super Vocal Boys".. who have a performance with Dimash of "Queen Medley", in which Ayanga more "Rocky" voice almost out did Dimash. 😳 Super Vocal Boys went through line-up changes, which allowed Neil and Tony to replace original members.
So ... Sa Ding Ding wrote this song for Ashes of Love, a chinese fantasy story - in which she appeared. The story has both a romantic quality and a rivalry (between brothers fighting for the same woman). I think some of the dissonance in the song may reflect that rivalry and tension ... as much as the harmony and floating represents the romance and aspiration of other plot lines ... but I could be over analyzing it !
Ok you need a new reaction to Zhou Shen. You have no idea the rabbit hole you will fall into. He is so skilled it’s like he has multiple brains to be able to switch seamlessly between genres, classical, pop, rock, ballads, Chinese opera rap, etc. and to be able to switch within on song like “You’re too Cruel” or “Baby/ Goodbye” or different voices like Da La Beng Ba or the Four Great Classics, or the subtle riffs and complex melody of Moonlight. Hard to believe he is 32 years old. He just did a birthday live and sang for 4.5 hours live and over 60 songs to his fans. Amazing! He deserves so much more attention in the west. He just released a song in Spanish for a China/Latin America cooperation.
Zhou as in Joe. Shen as in Sun. He is the one and only Chinese Chris Colfer as the Kurt guy from the Glee. I don’t know if he’s gay. But in the term of vocal it’s b pretty much the same. Voice didn’t crack during puberty. But as he age his voice also deepened. I recommend the song Human is. That another whole new level of emotional song.

There are a lot of great voices and great songs from China. My top favourite is Youth (or Juvenile) from Mira, where she sings about never giving up on your dreams. Outstanding!
Zhou Shen has an unbelievable range and can also sing in tenner and even as low as baritone. And Sa Dingding has one of the most beautiful female voices in China. They both can sing in multiple languages. And yes this song was made for a Chinese fantasy series on TV, and Sa Dingding acted in it. I believe he was 18 at this time and she was 42. It was an outdoor concert fir the autumn lunar holiday and that was the real moon behind them, the "butterflies" were actually lunar moths created with drones.
Welcome to Zhou Shen's angelic world of songs! Hope you will slowly unravel his talent - what have been said so far about him - he has many hit songs himself, but whenever he sings a cover version, he will do it in his own interpretation of the song and many a time did even better than the original singers. You really need to check out Taka from One Ok Rock, a Japanese rock band. He covers Hello and Easy on me from Adele in the original key. :) But I would suggest to try Take what you want from the 2018 Japan dome tour, it will blow your mind. I think he is currently one of the best singers out there hands down.

Oh Sam you are really missing a lot, if you don't check out Chinese singers. Some truly amazing voices. My favourite genre is Rock so Hua Chenyu (Hua Hua, whom you have seen before) is my favourite. But, I have to say Zhou Shen is just so amazing. Check out his "Big Fish", "Dalabengba", and "Heavens Island". Zhou Shen (Charlie) also has lots of English songs in his Repertoire. There is a beautiful video on RUclips where Katie Sky (who wrote "Monsters") actually REACTS to Zhou Shen singing HER song. She was so impressed, that she then returned the compliment by singing Zhou Shen's "Big Fish" in Mandarin.
Zhou Shen has a beautiful version of "Memory".. so much better than Elaine Paige (who I find nasally).
Zhou Shen (Charlie) appeared on a Competition show called "Super Vocal". You may like some of the singers on that. Gao Tian He (Neil) has a fun version of "She is my sin". Cai Chengyu and Ma Jia have a simply stunning version of "Grande Amore" which shows how tiring singing can be, until you are fully trained. (Cai, only 21 at the time) was shattered by the end, whereas Ma, with more training was less breathless. There is also a brilliant take on Beyonce "Halo" (sung by 4 strapping 6 foot plus guys.. Cai Chenyu, Ju Hongchuan, Kai Weng and Yu Di). I can't hear "Halo" without seeing THEIR version now. 😂
The winners (Ju Hongchuan, Cai Chengyu, and Ayanga), formed a group "Super Vocal Boys".. who have a performance with Dimash of "Queen Medley", in which Ayanga more "Rocky" voice almost out did Dimash. 😳 Super Vocal Boys went through line-up changes, which allowed Neil and Tony to replace original members.

So ... Sa Ding Ding wrote this song for Ashes of Love, a chinese fantasy story - in which she appeared. The story has both a romantic quality and a rivalry (between brothers fighting for the same woman). I think some of the dissonance in the song may reflect that rivalry and tension ... as much as the harmony and floating represents the romance and aspiration of other plot lines ... but I could be over analyzing it !
Ok you need a new reaction to Zhou Shen. You have no idea the rabbit hole you will fall into. He is so skilled it’s like he has multiple brains to be able to switch seamlessly between genres, classical, pop, rock, ballads, Chinese opera rap, etc. and to be able to switch within on song like “You’re too Cruel” or “Baby/ Goodbye” or different voices like Da La Beng Ba or the Four Great Classics, or the subtle riffs and complex melody of Moonlight. Hard to believe he is 32 years old. He just did a birthday live and sang for 4.5 hours live and over 60 songs to his fans. Amazing! He deserves so much more attention in the west. He just released a song in Spanish for a China/Latin America cooperation.

Zhou as in Joe. Shen as in Sun. He is the one and only Chinese Chris Colfer as the Kurt guy from the Glee. I don’t know if he’s gay. But in the term of vocal it’s b pretty much the same. Voice didn’t crack during puberty. But as he age his voice also deepened. I recommend the song Human is. That another whole new level of emotional song.
