Worlds Beyond Number is an epic, immersive narrative-play podcast from Brennan Lee Mulligan, Aabria Iyengar, Erika Ishii, and Lou Wilson, produced by Taylor Moore at Fortunate Horse. This is the first proper episode of our first campaign, The Wizard, the Witch and the Wild One. Our main story, like this one, is public and freely available anywhere you get your podcasts. There is also an 8 episode campaign of our heroes as children, capturing character creation and their earliest formative adventures together. That, and our bi-monthly talkback show, Fireside Chats, along with so, so much more are available exclusively to our Patrons, at patreon.com/worldsbeyondnumber

I am so appalled and enamored by this compelling, emotional story, and so very grateful. Every element; the score, editing, production, the players, and Brennan's narration is just so beautiful. Not a single aspect should go under appreciated. It makes me actually tear up constantly and get goose bumps. Even moments that are not meant to be sad have a pureness that is really refreshingly cherishable, and I love it all 😊

Well executed on so many counts: the prepared story, the improv of the players and Brennan, the sound effects, the music. Such a great mixture of prepared story and then allowing the game/dice to impact that story. What I love the most about Table Top Role Playing Games is the story, and this style/production allows the story to come directly out without the game mechanics being a hindrance to the narrative. Bravo, well done!

When suvi gets to Sylbri and denies to look at the tea shop....Brennan says it's Emliss and Daughters Tea Compan I think? I believe that's what I heard.
And....we knew Captain Emliss as a sea merchant...and a Chalice from Rhuv.
So. Knowing Ame and Wren probably often drank tea....and Captain Emliss saying, "I've met a lot of Witches" on the ship before she attacked Ame I think I have a new suspect on my red string conspiracy board of who cursed Ame and Wren, or at least *how* they were cursed.
Edit: Disregard above. The transcript of the episode reads as "Enlos" not "Emliss"

This is fantastic, as someone who has never really been into TTRPG or the like before, I'm loving listening to this! ...except for one thing... The difference in volume between the loud sound effects and some of the quiet speaking moments makes it so my ears hurt at the max, and I can't make out what people are saying at all at the lows. I get there has to be some difference, but does it have to be so huge?

@@BlitzyRPGThe music in this show is almost entirely original compositions from Taylor Moore, so that's probably why you can't find this instrumental. I think he mentioned in a recent Fireside that there were only two times in arc 1 where he uses music he didn't compose.

We know that she's quite short; and she's sturdily built, with the kind of muscles that come from working a farm from dawn to dusk and (as multiple references hint) wrestling goats; and we know she favors clothes as close to "cute" as can be achieved given a small town and practicality, with short skirts.
