Maybe he was more lazied out as it was his birthday. He hardly kicks at 1:02 and doesn't repeatedly hop before the first chorus. The preceding concert at Helsinki was more energetic overall. The later HWT concerts after August were somewhat boring in the first half but smoother after the moonwalk and he does a lot of that pointing move. Really curious how Johannesburg will turn out.
Yea maybe, I noticed Helsinki was a lot better too (although worse than his previous concerts). I'm very curious about Johannesburg too. Did you see him teasing his hand out of the spaceship? Pretty cool. I'm guessing it'll be better than this concert but a bit like Helsinki otherwise, he also seems to have hurt his knee or something (he's touching his knee in all the footage released of his South Africa concerts, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban)
just watched Johannesburg. Ending is pretty smooth but not particularly stand-out if you've seen other amateur concerts from this time. He the knee-up robot move in a circle like Oostend. Interesting that there was an outro dedicated to Joseph and Katherine before he packs up.

How did we go from Helsinki, which is a already tired out show, to this? He just barely moves here, in Helsinki he still did some stuff but here he's just motionless, even the first 2001 performance is better
To sing better, even despite us not being able of hearing him, he does that to focus on singing, this might make no sense but it that's what happens when I'm trying sing really well, even though I suck at singing
he had it at tour start - I would say he even developed it during the tour he conducted prior, the Dangerous Tour. Once damage to your vocal chords and larynx is done you cannot repair it. Thus he sounds way off/ scratchy.
He didn't have Laryngitis in the HIStory Tour, he had it in certain shows of the HIStory Tour. His voice sounds alright, a bit tired, but nothing too bad
