Our mind is like a guard that watches for obstacles that keep us unhappy. Being empty itself it can not see the truth which lies behind the mind. That is why it is important to let go of the concept of the self with it's attachments and see the oneness of love that shines through us ❤🎉
I remember as a four year old child going into the ancient woodland where I once lived, and seeing a carpet of bluebells, stretched out as far as the eye could see. That beautiful memory has never left me, I am now seventy seven.
Your voice is very calming. I’ve watched some of your videos multiple times, they’ve taught me a lot and I continue learning from them. Truly amazing and liberating. Thank you! R
How would it be if I didn't know what I wanted. Anxiety for peace has kept me in suffering. It really is my personal judgment which one is desirable that keeps me anxious. Had been just contemplating accepting both equally at the time I ran across this video. Thank you
For me, I don’t actually know what I want. Whatever it is, it appears and then is gone. A teacher said to me once “your desires are its desires.” Everything is just coming and going, coming and going, yet “I” remain at all times.
Thank you for making this teaching available so wonderful! It spoke to me very clearly by touching something i knew for a long time and changing it. By listening it became real and true that the path is not to overcome unhappiness to achieve happiness. No, unhappiness and happiness just arise and disappear again alongside the way to be experienced. We can feel them, recognise them, even be equally grateful for both. They are both characteristics of being alive. To increase equanimity brings the stillness we are longing for. Thank you again.
What a valuable teaching, what a wonderful teacher. I can see how I’ve repeatedly bounced between the banks of the River. Thank you Samaneri Jayasara. 🪷
So a person of wisdom that has right view, what is their relationship to happiness and unhappiness? Do they just disregard them both is that what is meant here? Thanks so much thank you for all your wonderful postings and I’m so glad that I’m listening again. It’s been too long. Much love. 🙏💕
I had a moment maybe 8 years ago when I understood that thoughts aren’t real. It was suddenly all so obvious. I found that memories are the same, (just more thoughts), and represent the past. Hopes, fears & desires also the same and represent future. Perceptions & concepts were seen as constructs of thought too. Time therefore relates to thought. Space relates to perception. Neither therefore exist. They are just temporary flavourings of what is. It’s taken time absorb but for me, it’s not wrong to have preferences, they’re useful in navigating the world but attachment to them brings suffering and it all starts to become more beautiful when preferences begin to drop away.
One of the greatest deceptions are the thoughts you allude to as being the other person and by which you say you know them - the second greatest deception are the thoughts by which you determine you know yourself.
@@julien1 Yes! That was another big lesson for me, the day I started being truthful with myself! It was a hard lesson initially, I was used to believing and trusting what my thoughts were saying. Then it occurs that they’re not always honest and may in fact be heavily biased towards your separate self. Literally creating separation. Truth is key - honesty with others but more importantly, finding Truth within yourSelf.
Somehow I believe it helps us remember and continue to clarify in ourselves. At the same time, dropping little breadcrumbs for their soul. When I realize I’m “preaching” I gotta shut up. Just my current understanding at least
Hello, I’ve listened to Ajahn Chah for years and this particular talk in my opinion has great insight. Can I ask how you decide which of his almost 53 recorded talks to reproduce? Thank you

That’s why I don’t try to preach to people. they have to experience it in order to get it
It’s hard for me not to encourage people to try and find their Self, when you witness their suffering. But no one listens.😢

A reminder for us to practice what we "preach"... Instead of preaching what we practice.
The place of coolness, the place of gentle breeze, the place of thoughtlessness ,The place of Stillness.....Samadhi

Amazing example, resembling mind, to a wild, sick, and paranoid dog running around in pain, and finding no solace. 😢
