    Was anyone fooled that Adult Deja was someone else? She looked so much like her and acted so much like her that when I saw it I thought they just aged her up perfectly with some crazy magic, when I found out that it wasn't teen Deja's actress playing the part I was shocked because of how good Adult Deja was in the part.

    I think Rebecca's eyes still looked young with her being in her early 80's. Older eyes contact lenses would've been more realistic, but I was amazed with how well her skin, neck, and hands were aged. Great job.

    In S6 E16, Kevin talks to Sophie about their “lazy Saturdays” as kids. They would watch old movies, play four square (chalk is used to draw out the squares) and pin the tail on the donkey. He tells Sophie that he would love to recreate that for Rebecca.
    Looks like they are bringing different elements of that memory to create that moment one last time for Rebecca as she’s passing.

    I enjoyed the episode but surely I can't be the only one that thought Miguel, Randall, Kate and Kevin deserved more moments to talk to Rebbeca like Beth and the doctor got? I was waiting all episode for that. Poor Miguel got 5 seconds! He's absolutely critical to Rebecca's life. It would have been great to see Miguel help her through the train (that would have had a deeper meaning). Overall still enjoyed it'll the episode just think they missed a few potential moments with Miguel and the kids

    • @nateandphoebe
      @nateandphoebe 2 года назад +14

      I completely agree! I thought Miguel got the short end of the stick on the train! He was such an important part of her life, and the doctor and Randall's dad got wayyyyy more time with her.

    • @rsc6830
      @rsc6830 2 года назад +28

      Here's a good explanation about the Miguel train scene: "I feel like a lot of people are missing the fact that all of this was going on inside Rebecca’s head, in the mind of someone with Alzheimer’s. In a way, she’s her own unreliable narrator, and her recollection of the last few years of her life is unfortunately non-existent. She’s not the late 70s-aged version of herself; she’s Rebecca at her prime. All of the people she sees actually manifest as they would have been at that time. Of course Miguel gets short shrift - he was only ever Jack’s friend in the time frame in which she sees herself. The big three appear as adults, but her flash of recognition seems more palpable when she sees them as children and young adults. William symbolizes the confusion and self-flagellation that came with keeping secrets from Randall, and in her last moments, he (and the doctor) permit her to forgive herself for her life’s mistakes. I think his was incredibly well handled. I’m not sure if people really were expecting the metaphorical “life flashing before her eyes”, because what they got was something significant and profound: a woman, at the end of her life, forgiving herself and being forgiven."

    If I could write the perfect ending: Rebecca crosses over from life to death, all the characters who had passed are there, and who is waiting for her? Jack; of course! So they have their heavenly reunion and all is fine when Jack says: Rebecca, I want you to meet someone. Rebecca sees a man, who is turned the other way. The man (who is played by Justin Hartley) turns around and Rebecca says, "Kevin, what are you doing here?" The man says, "Hi mom; I'm not Kevin - I'm Kyle!"

      It has to do with the circle of life and the small gestures that touch the lives of strangers. Jack was kind to a panicked father after his son was in an accident, and shares the "when life gives you lemons" analogy. Jack dies that day, but the boy lives. Rebecca develops alzheizmer's, and the son goes on to advance Alzheimer's treatment. Marcus' family goes on to adopt the "life gives you lemons" analogy as their own.

But in the most recent episode (right after Miguel dies) he’s happy and with that new girl he met after his divorce with Kate and then in even further flash forwards (post Rebecca’s death and baby Jack’s adulthood) he’s with that same girl that he was with when him and Kate first separated. Why wouldn’t he be with her during the timeline that Rebecca dies? Maybe they separate and then get back together again down the line? I personally think it’s a plot hole and that’s a shame because the show has been so well written.

      It really isn’t a story if writers don’t throw in a variety of life experience. Happy only stories are maybe appropriate for children but most adults want something to grapple with. I think they did really well telling the stories of Toby & Kate and Rebecca & Miguel.

      I think Miguel had to die so Kevin could finally step-up and be there for Rebecca and they have their time in life, something they didn’t really have ever.
      As for Kate and Toby divorcing, there’s multiple theories why this could be. Likely just to mix things up and keep the mystery going.
      We see that they remained friends though and did well raising kids apart.
      These two likely realized they’re better off as friends than spouses

    • @colleengallo4831
      @colleengallo4831 2 года назад +2

      Because life is messy. Not everyone remains happily married, and the distance caused by Toby's job and Kate's unwillingness to move caused a fracture. Miguel died because people die, and death is rarely convenient. It also allowed Kevin to step up and be a self-sacrificing adult for once. Extended family children are just that. Beth & Randall = Annie, Tess, and Deja. Toby & Kate = Jack and Hailey. Kevin & Madison = Franny & NIckey. Madison & Elijah = new baby.

      No, she is in her early 80's at the end. She was born in 1950 or 1951 (Kate refers to her in the "Saturday in the Park" episode, set in late 2021-early 2022, as "my 70-year-old mother"), and if you piece together the timeline the end of her life where everyone gathers is sometime in 2031-2033, based on how old Nick and Franny look and a leaked picture of a prop that indicates she died in 2033 (although props have been wrong on dates before on this show - see Randall's report card in season 1). So she lives about 12-14 years after her initial diagnosis, which I believe is just slightly more than the average.

      I'm so confused. How is Jack jr. an adult when Rebecca dies but Kevin's kids, who are maybe 3-4 years younger than Jack are around 10-12 when she dies? I think Jack is a pre-teen or early teen when Rebecca dies, and if so, Kate is still alive as she sees him perform when he's an adult.
      Edit: Also, Jack being a pre-teen makes sense as all of Randall's girls are young adults at Rebecca's death and they were 8-12, Deja being around 14-15 when Jack was born so it makes sense.

      @@Mar-pe9kx Jack Jr isn’t an adult when Rebecca dies. He’s the same age as Kevin’s kids. I don’t understand why people have so much difficulty understanding

    I think Kate will die and the game has something to do with Kate

      They showed Kate in a flash forward to her son Jack performing as an adult, way past when Rebecca died.
