Lyrics:
(In Italian, Sicilian dialect)
C'e luna mezz'o mare
Mamma mia m'a maritare
Figlia mia a cu te dare
Mamma mia pensace tu
Se te piglio lu pesciaiole
Isse vai isse vene
Sempe lu pesce mane tene
Se ce 'ncappa la fantasia
Te pesculia figghiuzza mia
Là lariulà pesce fritt'e baccalà
Uei cumpà no calamare c'eggi'accattà
(Basic English translation of above)
There's a moon in the middle of the sea
Mother, I want get married
Girl, but to whom I would give you
Mother, you should take care of this
If I choose for you the fisherman
He goes and he comes
He always holds the fish in his hands
If he gets an idea
He could fish you, my little girl
(BTW, the Italian word for fish is also slang for dick.)

And see who's looking in my window
It's the baker boy and look

Im not even Italian and I love this song , what a fun song.
I am italian and to most of us this song is like fantasico BENE
Molto bene!
the capitalist1 Right?
when i cook pasta i always put this song on
wrong? never .
This brings back so many fond memories of my childhood when my Sicilian father would sing this old song to me and my little brother... First in Italian then in English. Those were such happy days. I never get enough of listening to this great folk song always with a big smile on my face...
Anna Salerno thx for sharing ^^
was he a capo ?
@anna Salerno What a lovely story. Thanks for sharing it with us. X
Me too, same experiences. My family emigrated from Sicily too , , , I was born in the States, my dad sang this song all the time and he was so happy when he was singing it, he'd dance around and we kids would dance with him!!! Great days! I have a grandson now, my first grandchild . . . I wan to learn the lyrics and sing it to him, hopefully we can keep this going!
What a racist question, not all of us Italians are/were in the Mafia.
Reminds me of large familia gatherings, when my Nonna was still alive. Gravy on the stove all day, outside next to the grape vibes, playing as a child and always hearing my aunts and uncles scream this while in the kitchen and living room where the kids weren’t allowed till dinner time, and you knew it was worth the wait.
I'm half Italian, half French and whatever unknown my mom is but I love the Italian culture and music. Growing up there was a lot of Italian influence and I've enjoyed it. 🇮🇹
Nostalgia is in full force listening to this! My grandparents hosted Christmas Eve every year even before I was born and my grandfather made his home made raviolis. Focaccia and prosciutto with wine glasses in every adults hand. Somehow this song was played one year and the entire family, 30 or more, held hands and circled through the house. This continued almost every year. Whenever I am asked what my favorite childhood memory is it is always those Christmas Eve’s. Miss my Nonno and Grandma like crazy.
God bless you.
What a absolutely wonderful memory thankyou for sharing
I can picture that happening for you❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉💃🕺💃💃🕺🕺💃🕺🕺🩰🩰🩰
Italian people’s are the most friendly and kind people in this whole world, big love to you and your beautiful country and FOOD 🇮🇹
Grazie merry christmas
My father would sing this (among other Italian songs) to us on long drives in the car. It will always mean "Daddy" to me when I hear this song.
Same here!
Go eat your bears asshole
We are Spanish/Italian. My Italian paternal grandmother passed away when we were young so we only learned Spanish. My uncles would speak in Italian when they did not want us to understand. They would laugh and we would only guess what they were laughing about but we had a pretty good idea. I like the old songs. They remind me of my father and my uncles. My generation grew up with Spanish music, Jazz, and Rock.
Best version of this song for my money! No one can do it quite like Louis!
Half Italian. Gotta say, i friggin love the Italian culture honestly. Also Scottish. Love life
omg same. I'm Scottish and like, third generation Italian.
Same bro 🏴🇮🇹
This is my new favorite song in 2022. I think I'm going to start listening to Italian music now.
For those of you who don't know. This is the voice of king louis from the original jungle book. Hence why the character is called king LOUIS.
But it’s Sam Butera singing
@@ShaggyDawg No, friend. Louis Prima is King Louie in the original 1967 Disney film.
Brings back a lot of memories when my Aunt and Uncle would have family gatherings and we would sit around the table singing this.
Love this song! Grew up with song. Every wedding we played it. Awesome memories. My kids love this today. Love being Italian!!!
I’m not even Italian and I love this song! I remember this as a kid from the Godfather movie wedding scene, was a different version, but love this one the most. A true music head loves and appreciates music from all genres, countries and cultures. It is classics like this song why music is such an true art form.

I was reading the lyrics on another video and was wondering why they didn't match. You just save me from a stroke 😅🤗 Grazie!
@@Dvelher Prego 😉
love it. thank you for the translation.
@@Dvelher Here, the written lyrics say "fish" (pesce), but he sings "baccala" instead. (I remember, as a little girl, asking to be picked up. The grownups were aways saying, "No, you're a big baccala." I was quite insulted when I eventually learned what baccala is---codfish!) I'm sure Prima puts his own phrasing in, but my ears can't keep up. 😆
@@lisab.21 Holy fish! 😦 I can imagine your feeling when you found that out... I'm sorry... But I can easily think they also were called that when they were kids. We "grownups" can be j*rks sometimes 🙄. Big hug 🤗
Sono Italiano e amo tantissimo questa canzone. L'ascolto da quando sono bambino
As an Italian, this brings back memories.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful
Great memories of my Sicilian family!
Me too, my grandma would sing it to me and after she passed, I couldn't find it and after 6 years, the words came to me. I'm so happy!!! I'll never forget now!
❤
@@lilbitliss8 Your grandma used to sing to you a song that is full to thre brim with quite explicit sexual references? Hehe! Your nonna must have been a great character. :)
I just started playing this song for my 3 year old grandaughter..she loves it. we hold hands and go around in circles and laugh like crazy.
We aren’t Italian.. but wish we were.:)
When I went to Italy, this song (some words) was everything I could say in Italian! I love it!
And what's worse, no one in Italy know this American song. To make things even worse: the language in this song is not even Italian, it's some Southern dialect, almost completely indecipherable to most Italians from the centre and north.
This music will never die
This brings me back to childhood when Dad and Mom every Sunday they put on the Italian Hr on the radio.
I'm not Italian, but this song is so catchy, I can't help but sing along
I love my italian people from roma.
I love this brings back so many memories my Nonna n Daddy n Aunts listened to this n at weddings theyd play this..I m Scillian n Calabria....making homemade pasta, raviolis, sauce what ever wed all get together n do it having fun...good ol days..
I just turned 26 years old and I am 100% Sicilian , and yes I do love this song! I mean it's just a fun song like somebody said before me 7 years earlier !
My buddies' name is Nick and he's Sicilian and lives in Florida. This one is for you Nicky!
I am not Italian, but LOVE this song! The song "makes me sooo happy" when I listen to it! I believe it plays in the GODFATHER MOV I E which I have watched at least 25 times!! Growing up Italian food & Italian men seem to be my favorites. 😊❤❤❤
My father used to sing this and we never knew the song, his mother was Italian .... and I have just found this, thank you so so much.... 55 years... but you helped me find it (and I never knew it was in the Godfather !!!)
Italian to my core! reminds me so much of grandma on Christmas lol good times
I have some Italian in me and My grandpa (even though I don't call him that) used to sing this all the time! I came here because my sister reminded me about it.
Mi piace esta Buona canzone!!, Grazie!! Viva La Forza Italia!!🇺🇲🇮🇹😀👏👏👏👍
Forza Roma and Lazio merda.
We I was a teenager, our group used to try and sing this under the street lights late at night...we never had the words right, we just made them up, but we were pretty good at the melody....Fun Times.
Took me forever to find this!!!
Played this song at my wedding.
I'm Polish and and I love Louie.
Hey I'm some Polish too.!!
Wooooooooooow God bless Italia. Love from your Roman province of Palestine. 👍🏻👍🏻
Ahh yes-cannoli, vendettas and Sicilian messages. So many memories.
Love his songs!! ❤❤❤
I am not Italian. I love this song.
I used to go to a bar just outside of Boston that had a jukebox with many Louis Prima songs and some other 'mob' music. Always loved listening, even though I don't have a drop of Italian blood. Not sure if the bar is still there, I don't get around much these days (too much time in bars takes a toll!)
Mille grazie!
Mafia 2 > Mafia 3
By far
ult1matum not even a comparison! M3 is a sad excuse for a Mafia game
Mafia 1 > Mafia 2 > Mafia 3
Mafia 2 baybay
What’s mafia 3 ??? Didn’t know it even existed lol 😉
The kIng of swing a genius Louie Prima also the King of Vegas before anyone else
This is my happy song
My grandmother sang it all the time
mafia 2 and godfather brought me here
Ma Man
chistitan same
As much as I wanted to like M3. It was bad compared the the others. Graphically a disappointment, gameplay was smooth but there wasn't anything to do.
M2's beginning was memorable.
M3? Not so much.
@@LordTakahashi Mafia is about Italian-Americans, about sicilians. They messed up the third one by making the character black. Absolutely disappointing.
@@razvandrey3376 Mafia is about the Mafia. Color had nothing to do with it.
There are different types of Mafia.
Even the Japanese Yakuza is a Mafia, but it goes by a different name.
You just prefer the Italian version because that's what's popular in media.
Brings back Memories !
I remember this song from Mafia 2.
what a happy song.. love it!!
Great italian family memories n dad singing!
I can feel the pasta in this song…
Screw the actual italian national anthem, THIS is the true italian national anthem
At least for Italian Americans

(It's a naughty song.😉
Great song!!! Love the rhythm
An Italian man sang this song in the 192*...
But I think Italiana sang this song in 1850s or so. 🤔
From an Italian family. They play this on cassette tape on a boom box at my family reunion
What a catchy song! But every time I hear Louis' voice, all I think of is Cousin Louie from The Jungle Book
Sending love to 🇮🇹 from 🇦🇲! ❤️
Perfetto Louis...

I'm going to play mafia 2
Ive been playing it due to huge nostalgia

Yeah we know what hes realy saying.
Also, "baker boy" is an euphemism of a man that feel pleasure just by watching women xD
My friend and I were just discussing this so I looked it up. I told her I understood the meaning after growing up hearing it all the time and it hit me one day that the words had taken on a whole new meaning. Lol
growing up I thought he meant the strap 💀
He will cum and he will go. He will mix the flour in your pan.
