Love those gens Hondas.... Had an 85 CR125, 87 CR125 and 89 CR250. Loved the red of 88 and 89s, but the 87s looked so sweet with the goldies. 👍 Thanks for the teenage throwbacks! God, those 87 500s were gorgeous!

I had the 1985 CR80. You are right about the ATAC system. It really didn't do much of anything. I used to call the chamber in the headpipe The Oil collection Chamber because that's about all it did.

Great bikes! In ‘87 I borrowed a friends ‘86 CR125 for a couple races (I had come from three years on KX’s) and I remember pulling huge hole shots every time I raced it. I remember that bike as a rocket ship that handled so well it felt like I was cheating. Never got the opportunity to swing a leg over the ‘87. My dad owned a Kawi-dealership from 85-91 so I didn’t get to ride too many other brands during that period. Great videos! Keep em coming!

couple years ago found an 87 cr80 for my son. original bars, controls, rotors, pipe, and a factory kickstand! fun bike to own as it always drew attention. regret selling it.

I started on an 87 500 when I was 11 and rode it for a couple years before it bit the dust. You're right about having to stand on something to start it if you aren't tall enough! It's been sitting at my parents house in pieces for 20 years. I've been giving some serious thought into finding all the pieces and doing a restoration. With the going rate for 500's where it is right now, it almost makes financial sense to do the restoration and sell. We'll see. Those sure were fun bikes!

I had an 87 250. It was a great bike the43 mm cartridge fork were excellent! The first rear disk brakes. It was a gun and run style power. The rear shoock needed revolving and a heavier spring.

Went from a 79 yz400 as my first bike, granite it was beat to hell. The day got my 86 Cr250 I fell in love. Have had many bikes since, and currently have a 06 yz450 but man that CR was a screamer and just all around fun to ride

I raced both the ‘87 CR250 and 500. Both were great once you replaced the soft springs. Both had great power but with very linear power bands. The 500 had bad headshake under braking with the stock springs. Otherwise no major gripes. Wish that I would have kept the 250. Thanks for the memories.

I had both an 85 & 87 CR 250. I pulled an awesome holeshot on my 87, against the A Grade riders, in a all grades race. I was a weekend warrior at best, and was holding down 2nd until I washed out the front in a mud hole at the end of the 1st lap. It was a fantastic bike, raced clubman motocross and even did the occasional enduro on it.

I wanted a 125 that yr so bad but here in Jersey they were sold out in Dec. I went everywhere and couldn’t get one so I got a KX 125 in 87. However, I did buy my Girl at the time the 80. She rode it once and it scared the crap outta Her. I sold it as ( New ) and when the guy came to see it He couldn’t believe it. She probably had less than an hr on her...... sad.!

hey motocross vault! The 87 125 actually had a real power valve. I just restored one and im 99.9% sure. I sold the bike a couple weeks ago and regretted it as soon as i lost sight of the guy. Great video man. Could you do the 84 kx lineup? The 80 that year was explosive. I had 2 and both needed rear fenders when i got them! Thanks again man.
