That’s the way to make the most of a setback. Well done champions.
Cheers!
Hi hope you are all well missing you all hope your back soon
Thank you! Very soon hopefully! Cheers!
Missing your posts! How is the car issue progressing, my husband is obsessed with checking in to see the next update. Hope you are all keeping well and the stress levels are subsiding.
Thank you, Car is running great, no issues anymore. Just taking a family time out. We'll be back soon!
Hope you get back on track shortly and your luck changes for the better
Thank you, lets hope so!
Thanks for sharing our beautiful port stephens and of course newcastle area. Great drone shots zenith definitely not a child friendly beach. I'm glad you guys got a vehicle to get around and explore. I hope this is the end of the Chevy problems and smooth sailing
It's a great spot! We had perfect hot weather too!
Yes it's pretty but agreed didn't look very child safe! Yes let's hope so! Cheers!
Can’t blame the car for the fuel issue. That’s on the servo for managing the fuel tanks. We’ve had good Toyota’s and some pretty bad ones. Hilux, 4 runner(surf) and Landcruisers. Our RAM Hemi is running great towing our Lotus Trooper. We are wary of toyota’s and turbo issues, having had engines destroyed by them and multiple turbo failures.
Absolutely agree, we're not blaming the car, it's 100% the servo. We think GMSV though should up their game in common parts availability in Australia.
We've never had turbo or engine issues with a land cruiser so we've been lucky by the sounds of it.
We just know if we had a land cruiser, we would have know it was a fuel issue straight away and drained the fuel on the side of the freeway and avoided any damage. With the Chevy the faults coming up were random and it being new to us we had no idea it was fuel related.
Good luck with the car guy's , hope you are all travelling again real soon 🥰
Thank you, very appreciated!
such a crappy thing to have to deal with guys all the best its resolved asap
Yes it's not what anyone plans haha, Cheers guys!
In my diesel i add The Fuel Doctor when i fuel up and its eats water up and contaminates and is also good for when you donot drive on a regular basis.
Thank you, we've picked up some of that now! Cheers!
Hope you enjoy the central coast. Avoca beach Soldiers Beach. Are all good to check out
We have been, it's great! Thank you!
Nice to see you at the Bay. When you come back fully equipped, try driving Stockton Beach and check out tin city, drive Sakurai, and do the Coast Coastal Walk. Maybe next time.
Thanks for the tips! That sounds great, we will add them to the list! Cheers!
wow, still waiting. If its any consolation I had to wait 6 weeks for a turbo seal for my LC300. It would appear all manufactures or dealerships just dont stock enough parts. Obviously the manufactures dont allow them to order on consignment hence not wanting to outlay the cash, Doesnt make our touring any easier when issues occur. Fingers crossed for you all to be on the road soon.
Yes, almost a month. Oh really, joys of new cars haha.
No it doesn't make it easy at all, it's a pain in the back side, but I guess you have no other option but to wait hey.
Thank you, we hope so too!
So sorry for your inconvenience hope this gets resolved
Thank you, we hope so too!
New tow vehicle coming soon for us. First take away I will keep all fuel receipts. Even before your fuel dramas I was planning to fit a fuel prefilter with a water trap. Your experience with parts issues with US Utes is not the first I have heard. But don't be delusional about what a similar fuel contamination issue would have cost in a Toyota 200 series. The diesel injectors are horrendously expensive.
Wooohoo, yes do get receipts, glad you can learn from us and fingers crossed you have no issues. es we've heard of the parts issues, we thought they'd have more stock in Sydney especially for common parts like injectors and fuel lines. They couldn't even find a bloody hose clamp they broke in Australia.
We know the cost would have been similar if not more in a 200, the faults that came up didn't indicate fuel issues and we obviously don't know this car, hence the unknown at the start. If we had a 200 we would have known it was fuel straight away and literally pulled over and drained the tank on the side of the freeway and avoided any damage whatsoever. That's the positive in knowing the vehicle.
@@LivingOffTheVan Yes knowing your car is a bonus. I just surprised the Chev didn't have water in fuel warning system. Even my 14 year old Land Rover has that. All the best for your travels.
the service station you got the fuel from is about to have some major work done by the look of it 🤔
Let hope for the better hey!
Yep every time i buy fuel i always get a tax receipt for that reason in case off dodgy fuel and the insurance company can charge them , the vehicle that help build Australia was the landcuiser and still is , the king off the outback ❤❤❤
Oh really, you could have told us that... haha we will be getting receipts every time from now on! Won't disagree with that haha
It's been a tough time for you both. Always ask for a tax receipt ,Try to only use BP they warrant their fuel, I keep right away from small servos it not worth the risk to save a couple of cents a litre, we diesel fuel could be truck diesel with a lower cetane rating . Spares will be an issue with most yank trucks with small dealer networks ... Go LC 200 we love ours Safe travels 🙏
It's not ideal. Yes we will be getting receipts no matter what now! Oh really that's great to know with BP. Yes the parts are a pain, although we thought being in Sydney they'd have more stock for common parts like injectors and fuel lines etc. Yes stick to your 200. Cheers!
Hi there,
Sorry to hear about the car. Enjoying the scenery around Newcastle. How did you get on with the servo who sold you the dud fuel?
Safe travels to you all
Thank you, we're lucky it happened where we were so we can explore.
The servo won't respond to calls or emails and won't admit fault. Insurance is covering us and will repair the car. We are out of pocket the excess as the fuel station needs to admit fault for us to get excess back.
Very inconvenient, but we'll get there!
Hi, can you let us know if the insurance company pays up in the end and who your insurance is through. So sorry this happened to you & hoping for a good outcome 🤗
Hey yes insurance cover it all. We are with RACV.
:: playing on living room TV ::
hahaha
I'm feeling for you's new car and that shit happens it will be all good soon and back on the road. What did you's think of Hog's Breath we have one here in Geraldton and would rather have a pub meal 😅
thank you, yes we just have to deal with it. We haven't crashed it yet so that's a positive haha
Yes Hog's Breath wasn't better than a pub meal that's for sure, nobody can beat a pub meal and a cold beer!
but how many other cars got that contaminated fuel??
To be honest probably not many, I don't think very many cars in outer Sydney would fuel up 98, especially when the cost of living is high. We're thinking that's why we picked up so much crap!
Perhaps a water filter on the chev?
Definitely looking like that!
Well well well… it is what it is. But Im going to say told you so here. If you travelled around Australia should know Australia is Toyota Country. Parts are everywhere. Even at Broome you can almost get everything within days.
hahaha don't rub it in! We know!
What's happened are you guys ok?
Hey, yes we're ok, back soonish. Tending to a few family things that need us right now. Cheers for your concern we appreciate it.
Can a 200 series pull that caravan you have legally? Thought the tow capacity of 200 was 3.5 Tonne with a GCM of 6850 kg. With a 3.5 tonne van on the back you would only have a payload of 362kg. Unless the van weighs less than it looks?
Exactly what I thought hence most people upgrade vans are going the chev or ram. I think it's just frustrating to own new vehicle and having such a big issue could happen any motor
Can get a Lovells 4t Tow upgrade along with a 7800GCM
Yes we have and we would have continued to if we didn't crash our 200.
We had the lovells 4 tonne towing upgrade with a gcm of 7800kg.
Our van weighs less than our Lotus we had previously as we removed water capacity to counter act the new suspension upgrade weight.
And the amount we are paying is madness !
100%
U need a chery lol 😅
hahaha they're really not great haha
I feel for you living off the van so annoying hope its sorted
Cheers, thank you!
Mate u have bad juju 😮
All the best
Chery goes good in the snow
haha yes hopefully that'll end soon!
As you know guys, can't beat a 200.
US stuff is junk
Can beat a 200series get an 80series 😂
Like we said, let's see what all the rave is with these American cars... and share our experience! The honest, the good, the bad!
Can't agree as we've not had one, let us borrow yours? haha
Why are you blaming the car for fuel servo issues. I know parts are harder to get but you knew this when you purchased the car. Total BS story. Sorry not a fair appraisal. Wait till you have done some serious km. I am on my 3rd American truck and love them. Mind you mine have all be diesel 😢
We're not blaming the car at all, it's 100% the fuel that bought this issue on. Sorry we didn't plan on picking up dirty fuel and having to get all new injectors and fuel components. Although, GMSV should have more common parts available in Australia especially injectors and fuel components. 1500's are so common now, even as tradie's everyday rigs in the cities. GMSV broke a hose clamp that they couldn't even get in Australia. It's frustrating, especially when you outlay so much money, you expect great customer service.
