Obelisk is an inevitable endless killer is the thing which bothers people I think. The best case scenario is you get it at or after ante 8, after being addicted to one particular hand the whole time (like, say, full house) and then you switch up from there (flush house) and never go back. However, at some point you _are_ going to catch up with the first number. But you knew that, so you've been preparing a perfect pivot to flush five. But without the functionality of the telescope voucher trying to get the correct planets is like herding cats and the farther you go the less forgiving the game is for not being committed to one hand type (switching so often really does halt planet progression). So inevitably the points get ahead of you, and even if they don't, you will eventually cycle through every possible hand type (emphasis on possible because it's too late to pivot to most other hands. like going from level 5 flush five to level 1 high card is gonna be a hard sell unless you've been keeping your steels game up). So choosing obelisk is a lot like choosing vampire. It can carry for a bit when you need that mult but you have to be constantly on the lookout for a way to get rid of it before it swallows you, yfm? Which I feel like is the intention of both of those jokers in the first place, top tier game design, but still!
@baydiac why doesn't that fucking thing work so that if the played hand is TIED for most played instead of being most played, it still maintains the streak, so that you're able to carefully balance out every time
Yea, I'm pretty sure the whole point of those prophecies was semantics. The witches never lied but also they're not supposed to be trustworthy. They give Macbeth enough info to make him overconfident and thus their prophecies come true.
I have an intense distrust of all the mad max water style jokers. The consumable/food ones in particular, I think "I don't want ice cream or popcorn to get me out of ante 4 and then not have the staying power needed by ante 6, just end my run right now with honor". Ramen gets a slight pass on this since the amount I consume of it is my own fault
Popcorn bean and banana all let you trade a temporary buff for econ. You take them and send it on two antes then use the money you’ve saved to stabilise. It’s strange how similar this game plays to TFT and other auto battlers
Negative obelisk would’ve been so cool. It’s pretty much the ideal situation for it, where you’ve played a ton of a hand type (2 pair) without investing anything into it, so there’s basically no cost to pivoting. And it’s negative so even if he didn’t pivot immediately it’d be fine.
My joker arc moment watching this vid was when NL skipped picking up the negative obelisk followed by buying a pack and not selecting a free joker when he could have easily just bought and sold. Egg then immediately lost. I have become what I hate a type A chatter completely molded by NL’s folly and Mama Liz’s chili oil
Type A Andys literally frothing at the mouth to point out his mistakes so hard that they see his legit good plays (fishing for a hand that can end the round in one hand for extra econ) as misplays.
I don't know if this has been said, and I hope Mr. NL Eggman sees this, but negative jokers do not remove multiplicative mult from Stencil. Since they do not add to the total count of what you have, if you take Obelisk when it shows up, you keep the x3 mult on top of having Obelisk. I know it wasn't really effective when you found it, but wanted to share the info I learned from using stencil
32:49 little price analysis here, he chose not to skip so he could get money. He ended up getting 10$. Had he skipped the reroll would have been free. Seeing that he spent 11$ on 2 rerolls he would have ended up in the exact same spot skip or no skip. As the lost 10$ from the round plus 1$ for 2 rerolls would have canceled.

He didn't need the space cards because the jokers were adding just as much if not more than the Planet cards would have anyway
