Over The Rainbow was composer by Harold Arlen in 1939 with lyrics by Yip Harburg. Over The Rainbow was originally sung by Judy Garland as Dorothy in the film "The Wizard of Oz" in the same year and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Over The Rainbow has been covered many times by many amazing artists with Eva Cassidy's iconic cover being one of the most famous and best loved.

A song I've known my whole life and loved. Judy Garland sang it for me every year when network TV showed The Wizard of Oz annually. It was a different version and always moving. Eva Cassidy came along and I heard her sing it somewhere not knowing she had passed away. What a shocker when I figured that out. Eva had a wonderful bluesy version that really touched the soul and didn't waver from the "Dorthy" optimism expressed by the talented legend Judy Garland. Eva was performing as a vocalist/instrumentalist almost becoming one with her instrument. Here, Lucy's version seems to give the bluesy feel combined with a deeper and fuller vocal experience while the excellent James Frankland holds the perfect balance with the instrumental element along with a soothing oboe. Just beautiful and the first time I saw this, I couldn't watch once. I had to repeat several times. It's my go to when I want to hear this song.
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceive what God has prepared for those who love Him, also hearing your voice and music.🙏🏼🧡✝️

Why didn't I hear this earlier. I didn't think that after Eva I would be able to listen to this song performed by anyone else. It was amazing, I listened to it ten times, enjoying every word, every sound, before I could stop.

When I first heard Eva sing this, I was lost in a few moments of pure beauty. Apart from the great Karen Carpenter, I had never heard a singer like it.
When I first heard you Lucy, I felt something I have never experienced... your emotions and pure love of singing flow effortlessly directly from your heart into my mind - without a flaw. It is an overwhelming feeling that is so hard to describe. It is complete immersion and captivation.
I honestly believe your rendition of this is every bit as good as Eva's and in many ways, surpases it. But your singing always has this magical effect, especially Hallelujah - which is without doubt the best version ever recorded.
To be so talented and consistent across the board is beyond comprehension. You are truly unique. No wonder your music has so many millions of views. I am so excitied for your future.

first of all i love lucy ,no pun intended, she is one of my favorites, along with her duets with sis. she does this song as all her other covers wonderfully but in my opinion the horn(clarinet?) drowns out much of the emotion that eva presented, especially during the guitar solo part of the song. still love it., my newest magnificent young female singer , tori holub, karen carpenter reincarnated, check it out

I've been addicted to Lucy since I first heard her sing her first note of Moon River on the kids voice ,l didn't realise at the time that she didn't go on to win ,l thought that she was easily the best, l was very disappointed that people couldn't see what a beautiful young performer Lucy was l could even see then how great Lucy would become I was just wrong about one thing , I thought it would take longer for her to become the greatest of all time, I absolutely love to hear her voice every day, I couldn't last a day without hearing Lucy sing

Listening to these layered tones and transitions with perfect breath balance is a music to my ears. I usually write while listening to your songs, thereof it helps me figure out in which tone to write romantic or memory scenes. You have this 20th century tones that bring nostalgia to moi.

Bless you Lucy. I discovered your music a few months ago. I have grown up over these last 50 plus years with an appreciation of most music genres thanks to my dad, a jazz drummer, a man who introduced me to the jazz greats, then the iconic singers of the 50's and 60's. He then patiently took part in my music appreciation in the late 70's and the diverse eras of music ever since. He may be gone now, but he taught me to appreciate talent and what enjoyment of music really means. I shared some of your songs with my 84 year old mum. She simply replied Beautiful. Your music is very much appreciated by so many over so many ages. That's the biggest compliment an Artist can receive. Best wishes x
