Dear HarveyWetDog I’m shocked to learn of this and that you too have had reservations concerning CD. Training basic to advance movements in-hand classically is and has always been my passion. The risk of destroying trust and confidence in one’s horse is totally avoidable. One doesn’t ask the bricklayer to be a ballet dancer. And where knowledge ends brutality begins. Training horses takes time and patience and then more time and more patience. We are all able to learn more from our horses and others. I’m so sad to learn of this and trust lessons will be learned. Equestrian sport has been in the Olympics since 680BC so is part of the Olympic ideal. But the ideal also includes respect for the environment which is why ethical training can be the only way forward.

This is spooky! I seem to recall /remember this incident from four years ago, and my recolllection is that I saw a video at that time. When I heard on the news CD was stepping back from the Paris Olympics it rang bells with me.... Anyway, I don't believe that the 'incident' was a one off. @maelughran6981 yes, sadly that is very true. My husband and I were horrified to see Ellen Whitaker at Bramham one year.. she missed at a couple of fences and her horse didn't help her out. She practically pierced thenpoor thing between it's ribs with what can onky be described as a 'pony club kick' with her feet perpendicular to the horse's sides... it's reaction revealed that she must have really hurt it. You can use your imagination to think about what goes on behind closed doors.. I used to love show jumping but there are some truly sickening practices go on. I won't name names but there were household Olympian names at it.. jumping horses over poles with carpet rread nailed on, after the horses had had their legs brushed with blister solution. Boots with pins on the inside etc etc. I witnessed this first hand. These people were ON THE COMMITTEE of the BSJA. It is toxic.
I had to come back HarveyWetDog having just seen the video of CD and post my anger regarding the abusive behaviour of CD. This was not an “error of judgment” it was abuse pure and simple. CD was laughing whilst administering the lunge whip repeatedly to the mounted horse hind legs. The crack of the lunge whip can very clearly be heard and CD performance can be clearly seen. It has brought tears to my eyes and a dreadful feeling of sickness inside me. I expect that those who love and care for horses will feel as I do any many others besides. This is a terrible day for BD and I trust that the severity of sanctions brought against Ms CD will send a clear message to one and all that this abuse will not be tolerated or forgotten. Thank you HarveyWetDog xx

Wonder why this wasn’t reported 4 years ago, when it took place? Wait until the eve of the Olympics? 🤔.
Because someone didn't want her in the Olympics, probably
