  • Any van that enters the medium van marketplace is up against some seriously stiff competition… I mean, how on Earth are they supposed to compete with the Ford Transit Custom? ( To see the latest leasing deals on the Citroen Dispatch, click here: bit.ly/3uYWjjg )
    No single manufacturer could do it, which is why the PSA Group thinks it has the answer. Platform sharing… in the shape of its 3 medium vans… the Peugeot Expert, the new Vauxhall Vivaro & this little beauty right here… The NEW Citroen Dispatch.
    Is it a Proace, is it a Vivaro??? NO, it’s the latest Citroen Dispatch, & just like Superman it swooped in looking sharp & ready for business!
    The Citroen Badge is more modest than on other Citroen vans like the Relay; we love how it trails across the front into the a uto headlights which look modest & understated but are really highly powerful & will light up the road ahead.
    The grille is tough plastic making it much lighter than the previous model.
    And just check out the 16-inch steel wheels, they look great & hard-wearing.
    Overall, it looks snub-nosed & car-like (a hint towards how it drives, & what it’s like on the inside… let’s get in there…
    Taller people will need a bit more room… but it depends if your height is in your legs… or in your torso, but there's some cool features like a mobile office drop-down seat.
    The Steering wheel is plain with no leather, but has hidden depths. Left stalk is cruise control, right stalk audio controls with rollers… a bit old fashioned, but it works.
    You have cruise control AND a speed limiter, useful on restricted roads.
    Sadly the gearstick juts out into the knee space for passenger number 1 and there's not much storage - glove box, door storage, little cubbies, small cupholders, that’s it.
    You can really feel the car platform sharing elements in here, but that’s not a bad thing… it’s the way vans are going, & maybe that puts it ahead of the curve!
    Citroen have made it super simple for you… there’s no change in height across the range, all you need to do is choose the length - short, medium or XL. THIS one is Medium, & that means:
    • Length (up to 3 Euro Pallets): 2.5m (up to 2.9m)
    • Width: 1.6m
    • Width (between wheels): 1.2m
    • Height: 1.4m
    • Payload: 1,200kg (up to 1,400kg)
    • Lashing Points
    • Flexibility
    • Lining: Ply lining as standard
    • Moduwork load through: 3.6m (up to 4m long)
    • Euro 6 range of engines called BlueHDi
    • 95-180hp
    • Smooth drive, incredibly car-like.
    • Feel a bit cramped, but not as cramped as person number 3 would be in the middle…
    Market Comparason
    • Peugeot Expert / Toyota Proace / Vauxhall Vivaro - the Dispatch’s relatives are a mixed bag with plenty of choice of tech & looks even without the option of different heights. The PSA Group have done a good job giving each one a different vibe!
    • Renault Trafic / Nissan NV300 / Fiat Talento - THIS bunch of relatives have an edge with different heights available, but their payloads need a bit of work.
    • Mercedes-Benz Vito - THIS is the luxury option with tonnes of options & variants to choose from, you pay for the three spokes, but then don’t you always?!
    • VW Transporter - Anyone who knows me knows I love this van. It’s great-looking & very user-friendly. Payload is only place it only VERY slightly underperforms.
    • Ford Transit Custom - you can’t talk medium vans without mentioning the UK’s best-seller. It’s the top performer because of price, function & running costs. & it looks great too! The king has a lot of life left in it too!
    So, how do we wrap this up?
    Citroen call the Dispatch “the van for everyone”, & they’re not wrong. The three sizes take care of anything a medium van user might want, & the car-like drive & interior make it an absolute dream to drive around. Smart tech combines with economical engines to make this one of the first medium vans to feel like a full package with no compromises having to be made by you! And that is why if you’re looking to update your medium van, definitely take some time to check this one out.

    “Headlights controlled from inside”. As apposed to those cars and vans which you have to get out of to switch on and off😂.

    My son has a 2017 1.6 blueHDI 90.
    So far it has had a complete wiring loom replacement, as Citroen main dealer couldn't find the cause of constant electrical issues.
    A new cylinder head and water pump after the timing belt snapped - apparently caused by the coolant mix being to strong !
    and several other engine niggles - like diesel leaks causing Limp Mode due to low pressure.
    This same engine (DV6DU) is used by Citroen, Peugeot, Vauxhall and Ford.
    He won't have another Citroen.

    I would prefer a review of the most basic spec of vans to compare, typically it's the van most people buy.

      @vanaramauk  3 года назад +1

      Tom here: Thanks, Michael. Yep, totally understand your viewpoint. We're often given the basic vans, in this case, we were lucky enough to get a relatively high trim level. You'll see that a large number of subsequent review subjects were lower trim vans.

    Affirmation is always good but I was looking for a bit more of a critical eye. Overall, I think I'm convinced that this van is the one for me but the early part of the video ( steel wheels and plastic bumper observations) is pointlessly sycophantic. A quick spin with two empty pallets is no kind of road test for a commercial vehicle.

    why did Citroen put an rear view mirror inside the cabin? for design or make-up :))

    • @vanaramauk
      @vanaramauk  4 года назад +5

      Interesting question Vlad. Whilst you could use it to check your make-up, here's the real reason; it's because Citroën sells a Crew Van version and a people carrier version of the Dispatch called the Spacetourer. In those versions, the rear-view mirror would be useful and because all the models use the same windscreen, it's probably more cost-effective to put a rear-view mirror into Dispatch that doesn't need it instead of engineering a whole new windscreen without one.

  • @Liamofloin
    @Liamofloin 4 года назад +1

    Has this 1.5 engine been in use long? Is it a timing belt or a chain? Does it feel a solidly built, panels, doors, roof, as the VW? And you only had one empty pallet in it going up the hill?
    I can basicly find all the info you gave in the video from the Citroen website.

    • @vanaramauk
      @vanaramauk  4 года назад +5

      Tom here: All good feedback... but instead of having to go read some boring words you got the chance to see the vehicle in motion, next to a man for size comparison, a good talk through the interior, etc... I admit that I'll never please all of the people all of the time, but I hope it gave you a good feel for the vehicle's highlights?

  • @michaelwinder3490
    @michaelwinder3490 4 года назад +2

    These vans are ok. A lot smaller inside the cab then the original version and I don’t like the fact you have to give up the seat to use the load through shoot for longer lengths. It’s a good idea badly designed. The fact that now Vauxhall’s have joined up with this venture is that now as a consumer you have literally no choice anymore as now 4 different vans aren’t actually different at all. I think vauxhall will suffer because of this move

    • @ThePlayasyougo
      @ThePlayasyougo 4 года назад +1

      I agree. I own one of these and the fact that it's not a 3 adult setup seat wise in the cab is annoying. If only they moved the gear lever assembly into the dash a little it would be no issue at all. Otherwise the van is great. A few small issues with the steering wheel controls and what they do and do not control but im happy with it. Friends with transits are always back at the dealer for repairs.

    • @vanaramauk
      @vanaramauk  4 года назад

      Tom here: Michael, this is an issue, and yes, the market is looking a bit PSA Group heavy, but there are huge differences in the vans - from engine sizes, trim levels, interiors, etc. Personally, I think the Dispatch is a great addition to Citroen's fleet offering.
