What a beautifully scrappy game, rugby at its roots
That looks a lot like proper old school Test match rugby… a slug feat in the mud.
I doubt the All blacks v Springboks match would’ve been of a much higher quality, considering the weather and the conditions.
The Chileans looks like they have a gun team building. The Yanks made too many missed tackles, and I guess there was plenty of ball handling errors in the match too.
I’m South African, and I’m loving watching these smaller rugby nations, really put in some good shifts, and the crowds is what amazes me too.
Especially in this game, as I could imagine most didn’t turn up because of the weather, but kudo’s to that mode who went! Well done, you made that a great game, and your persistence was like a 16 th player for you.
I’m glad to see America also stepping up and I believe, by the time the World Cup comes along to America in 2032, both these two teams won’t just be there to ‘fill the spots’
They’ll be there to compete and I’m keeping a keen eye on the smaller nations over the next 10 years! This is great stuff and awesome for the growth of Rugby around the world. Love it and we’ll done to both teams for playing trough that and making it a great game.
PS- I don’t know his name, but that bloke for Chile who scored that try, That should be the Try of the year! I was like.. goooo boy! Hahaha

Thanks mate! Im from Chile, I literally cry at that try Rodrigo Fernandez #10 (he score a similar try against Canada same qualifier) , Chile was 1 man down to the sin bin when the try came, and this was the first of 2 historical games for our country, we hope take the win in denver to qualify for our first rugby world cup ✌🏻

Christ the conditions look appalling. 😆 These emerging rugby nations in the Americas, like the Georgians and Spanish in Europe, deserve as much support and assistance with their development as World Rugby (along with the major rugby playing countries) can give them.
Agreed, but it's also nice to see these tier 2/3 teams create brilliant games within terrible conditions. I can almost guarantee that most of those players on the pitch had never played a match in conditions like that, but if you go over to britain then almost all of those players started their club careers playing in muddy, water logged pitches. Kinda nice to see the sheer talent that these matches produce in smaller rugby nations

These kinds of pitches were a real leveller for us big slow forwards back in the day.. dragged down all the speedsters to our level.. fabulous conditions.
Once played in a 0-0 draw in those sorts of conditions. The two packs slugged it out between the 10mtr lines and the backs never touched the ball.

I’m so damn proud of the boys going there and putting on a proper showing. They kept their heads down and went about things to win. All of the Eagles should know how happy and excited for them we are as Americans. They’re helping turn the tide of how this country views the game and this is a fantastic measure of doing exactly that. Great individual try and team effort by Chile too. They’re a quality opponent and what they’ve done with their rugby program is nothing short of incredible. Cheers everyone!!
You lost to Chile. MLR has basically failed. All home grown talent are college imports given passports to play. Need more from the USA. They have gone down in quality and tactics vs EU and SA teams.

Speaking as a New Zealander, I wholeheartedly agree - this reminds me of grass roots school rugby, any weather condition, any pitch condition games. Far more entertaining than the current top tier tests being played at the moment.

It was funny playing in such weather when I was 12. But having an international match of significance in these conditions is appaling.
Editing was shite. Weather was a leveler for both teams. Better indication of skills on a dry paddock...me thinks..

in soccer (futbol) the people is a critical factor when playing in another teams house because of the pressure it means being "out of the water".
That's exactly the point Rugby =/= Soccer. It's not part of the culture of our sport and should never be.
