  • If you're my usual viewer and you love alternative fashion, there's a high chance you love Lady Gaga as much as I do! Haus Labs as a makeup brand has had a mixed reaction since launch, and this new rebrand with a focus on clean beauty has also seen some ups and downs so far.
    I do not have the products to actually try out but I am giving my opinions on what we have seen from the Haus Labs rebrand so far, their new website and the new products and marketing. I'm also talking about the history of the brand so far because I think it's important for context.
    I am a HUGE Lady Gaga fan and little monster, so please know that my video has only been made to share my honest thoughts because I want Haus Labs to be an established makeup brand with a good reception and reputation, and I think some changes need to be made in order for that to happen.
    I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments! I haven't really got much beauty content on the channel, so if it's something you'd like to see more of from me, let me know!
    Please be kind!

    Finally someone talking about the gaga rebrand! Loved this video, i agree with everything you said. I really hope we can see more "gaga" in the future of this brand. Even if i have been hoping for this since the first haus labs launch...

    As a huge Gaga fan AND makeup artist, this rebrand was both AMAZING and underwhelming… this packaging doesn’t scream Gaga at all, but it’s all so perfect for working artists to use in their kit. It’s easy to decipher shades and colors, easy to store in a kit (not bulky packaging), and the formulas have always been amazing. I just wish Gaga was more than the face of this brand because it really doesn’t seem like she has full creative control. Im still going to buy and use these products. I will always stand behind the ethicality and goodness that is Haus Labs. I just hope for a more artistic future 💖❤️‍🔥

      that's a really good point I hadn't considered! I agree - the branding needs to decide if the audience is Gaga fans, makeup fans, or makeup pros. That should be what happens first, and everything else should follow. Crossing my fingers for more creativity from HL in future too 🤞

    As someone who started doing makeup for The Chromatica Ball, I was excited about this new phase. I have to admit though, I really hadn’t thought about the tubes making it easy to use too much. I do think you’ve made good points about it and I see what you don’t like about it and why. I was most excited for the Magenta Shimmer because I wanna wear it to the show. I hadn’t thought about the lip crayon being a pen before but now I can’t stop seeing it!😂😂😂 I do hope it’s successful, and I will be trying some stuff for sure!

    I'm a Gaga stan and apologist but even I can't defend this launch... When I first saw the photos I genuinely thought they were fan memes. I was mortified to find out they were real launch photos. I've seen hotel shampoo samples packaging look much better. Funny enough I saw lip balms sold in my local dollar store with the exact same packaging as the "pigment paints" (actually the dollar store product had a better font).

    This was a very interesting breakdown because as I don't really wear makeup a lot, I hadn't really given it much thought but I do have thoughts now 😂 for a Lady Gaga fan that is not that into makeup, this rebrand to me feels like it's entirely for the makeup community and not at all geared towards fans anymore in spite of the BTW photos.
    Now that you've demonstrated the comparisons between 1.0 and the relaunch, I realize how much I loved the old packaging and how boring this new one is in connection to Gaga. As a regular makeup brand there is aesthetic appeal. For Gaga fans, it feels like any reference to Gaga has completely been dropped.
    E.g. the products I was always most interested in were the ones that had shade names in reference to her songs or projects (I've still never used that Countess lip stuff but it looks so cool 😭) and the ones that were must haves for me were ones with her face on it. It actually made me sad that they made the monster lip crayon collection with the nice packaging so inaccessible because I really wanted it lmao.
    Long rant but to get to my point. I may not know much about makeup but my feeling is, given who she is and that she's the face of the brand, it would've made most sense to make the target consumership her fans and people who wear makeup in a similar fashion as her such as the drag community, with a few products dedicated to people who are more beginners. I think it's very possible to infuse the products with her vibe and spirit subtly enough to still make them appealing to non-fans but obvious enough that fans connect to them. Right now I have no interest in any of the products as I did before, I'm just happy to enjoy the photoshoots that accompany the launches lol

    • @bigpinkenergy
      @bigpinkenergy  2 года назад +3

      Completely agree! The most exciting thing now is the new photos of Gaga + the fact she seems to be online (👀 hmm) engaging with fans to talk about the brand when usually we don't see very much of her on Twitter.
      A relaunch with a focus on creativity could have been amazing - I agree getting more drag talent involved would've been perfect. I know they've used Aquaria + Alaska in previous campaigns but there's only so much they can do with fairly limiting products.
      I still have hope for the future of Haus Labs - these next few months are going to be make or break for sure!
      I'm so glad you enjoyed my video and thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    Thank you for this video! Hardly anyone is talking about it and it doesn't excite me at all and I'm a huge gaga fan but I still don't feel like this says 'lady gaga'. Also this 'clean beauty' thing is very controversial with many saying clean beauty is just a buzz word, the way fast fashion call things sustainable. Im calling it another flop

    What I really wonder about is the "Clean" rebranding. That word is so unspecific. If this brand actually is going to create Makeup from "clean" sources, I would like to get more details about, where the ingredients come from etc. I would really accept the prices and buy makeup, that is actually trying to be good to the environment (if that's what clean means?). But I get a weird feeling, is it only green washing, or actually really good quality.
    I hope it is, because I want to love that brand.

    I rly wonder what kind of Gaga u stan bc the actual Lady Gaga hasn't done a lot of bold looks in the last year's. Mostly she wore very simple makeup and even her dresses haven't been outrageous besides Chromatica which was a very small era. I do think the prices are too high for Bronzer and Highlighter BUT the rest of the prices are the same as Fenty, Rare beauty ...

    • @bigpinkenergy
      @bigpinkenergy  2 года назад +2

      I wonder what kind of stan you must be because the Chromatica era & House of Gucci red carpets were full of bold looks. 🙃 Haus Labs has existed since the Enigma shows don't forget - which was supposed to be quintessential Gaga. The Bad Kid Vault from the Born This Way era suggests there is some kind of intention to appeal to the OG fans.
      Fenty lip oil is £19, HL is £25. Fenty eye pencils are £18, HL are £22. Rare Beauty liquid blushes + eyeshadows are £19, HL pigment paints are £25.
      You can love Gaga and still be honest about things that you think aren't great. At no point in my video was I hateful - I just truly want the best for this brand 💓

    Hyaluronic acid and squalene is cheap. Great, but cheap.
    I think any pricing anywhere has to do with what kind of level of luxury you want to submit to the buyer.
    Most makeup us cheap to manufacture, and everything but the actual product is simply fluff. The question is if they can pull off these prices.
    I do love that "Haus Labs" is two four-let...two words with four letters each. It goes with Lady Gaga, Luxe Ford and Pity F**k.
    I just like the way it looks.

    • @bigpinkenergy
      @bigpinkenergy  2 года назад

      Completely agree. Luxury makeup is often about the experience, apart from a set few brands/products which I think are worth the extra money. HL still needs to prove itself (for me personally) that the experience is worth it.
      I miss Haus Laboratories! It felt more whimsical! But agree that Haus Labs is probably a better name for this rebrand.

    When they first hinted at skincare (all the way back on that Insta selfie from Gaga) I really really got the impression that’s what they were launching - a f*cking skincare line. I was excited to have an inside look at how Gaga keeps her skin clean and healthy, and as a fan, inspired by the idea I could care for my skin the same way my fave does! I was thinking moisturiser, primer, skincare/infused foundations and concealers in a wide range of shades. Now that I would have invested in and been able to have justified a high price point. They missed the mark, sadly. You hit so many points in this, thank you Brooke 💗

    I felt the exact same way about the original launch and about the rebrand, I feel like it’s a money grab, I feel like she’s just using her fans at this point to make money off selling us overpriced makeup. 40 for a highlighter just stinks in my opinion. I also bought some things the Amazon launch, I got the bag (clear black) with lip liner and gloss included as well as a liquid black glitter eyeshadow, I was excited as a fan but a bit underwhelmed. Amazon screams greed! Not happy with Gaga’s decisions at this point in her career.

      I mean look at her IG it’s only to post sponsors. I have nothing against influencer getting paid with that, but when you’re a ultra rich celebrity… it feels icky that you only interact with your fans to sell products. I’ve always been a huge fan of her, but the past few years only seems like a cash grab

    Brands that center around the artist don’t last long. She wants a makeup brand that APPEALS to EVERYONE because it allows for growth. Fenty is so successful because of the way it was marketed. It didn’t solely rely on Rihanna’s image and allowed to the brand to grow and be taken seriously. This brand was not intended to scream GAGA. If you want to the brand to succeed you have to allow the makeup to be at the forefront not the celebrity making it. Look at Kylie Jenner for example. She was the face of her makeup and it’s not taken seriously at all anymore because it relied on HER image for so long.
