    I have to jump in here, because in my Lutheran Sunday School class, when the topic of Creation V Evolution came, I (thinking myself rather brilliant for thinking of the idea) Suggested this very thing. I said maybe God created the world THROUGH evolution, so as to give a scientific expl. I was pulled aside after class and asked not to return to Sunday School. Chalk that up to one of the many reasons I am an atheist today,

      They were right to ask you not to return; evolution is so toxic to religion because once you understand how it works, the idea of God becomes irrelevant. I mean you can imagine a God creating the world through evolution if you like, but it works just as well without the God. The God, if you want it to be there, has nothing to do.
      If, despite all that, you still really want to think it's all Gods plan, then make a closer inspection and decide whether you have to hope it was a bad day for God when he came up with it - the relentless struggle for survival, the pitiless extermination, the gruesome parasites, the monstrous deformities that the evolutionary process guarantees occasionally to occur.....some 'design', eh?! Yes, once you'd shown signs of latching onto those ideas, they knew what to do with you, alright.

      Evolution is not toxic to religion, this is only a problem if you believe that the bible is the truth and not just our best explanation of what happened.

      @@annoyed707 : Meggan takes at it's word, a book written by at least 40 different human authors over the course of 1600 years, as actual fact. A book that although it's first version was written about 3500 years ago, claimed the planet was only 6,000 years old, making the world less than 10,000 years old today. An obvious lie. The plan was to use people like Meggan's fear to control their thoughts and keep them "in their place.".

    and don't give me that BS about "we are arrogant to think it would happen in our life time, it takes thousands, millions of years to happen" The clock hasn't stopped ticking just because we are here. The planet is 5 billion years and counting, the clock never stopped. We should, in the last 10,000 years of written history..or even the last 1000, or 100 years, have seen some kind of hard evidence for such an event. It-hasn't-happened.

    I will believe that macro-evolution is possible when I see proof of it. I'm not arguing against you. I do see micro-evolution everywhere, and that makes sense. Yet if millions of people can believe that life sprang up out of nowhere, then so can I. The only difference between the two beliefs is that one has a faith in a god behind it. If non believers can believe that one day, for no reason at all life just sprang up. Then I can believe that my Creator made life spring up from the ground. :)

    • @puncheex2
      @puncheex2 6 лет назад +1

      The only question is, when faced with such proof, will you really believe in macro-evolution, or will you go into denial of the proof? But the real question is, Would it be for want of answering unsettled questions and investigating other paths, or would it be to keep from upsetting your lifeview?

    • @aylbdrmadison1051
      @aylbdrmadison1051 2 года назад

    IF there was a 2nd planet, would you not expect to find a ring of debris around our planet? And do you think it is a coincidence that the distance of our moon to earth, is exact that when the moon comes between the sun and earth, it is perfectly JUST blocking the sunlight.....The moon is not closer or further away but JUUUUUUUUUUST right..

    • @johnkelly5949
      @johnkelly5949 6 лет назад +2

      The Moon hasn't always been as far away as it is now. It was much closer. And, it's slowly moving away from Earth. The rings you are talking about would happen only if all particles left over from the collision were very small.
