It's also tragic because everything Terry's done and said up til now was all on the legit up-and-up. He wanted to do things the proper way, the legit way, the right way. It's just unfortunate that... well...
@@onemuststand7353Yeah, I was kind of rooting for Terry Silver throughout most of season 4. Basically, I at most would’ve considered him an antagonist until 4x8, which is when he finally was becoming the villain that he was in Karate Kid 3. Nothing about Terry Silver’s actions up until that episode made me think that he was doing terrible things and making kids into assholes but instead into warriors. John Kreese was still the main villain of season 4. He wouldn’t leave Terry Silver with his peace and tranquility well enough alone. So Silver finally gave in and gave up his better lifestyle to please his friend, thus he rejoins Cobra Kai as a co-sensei. But ungrateful Kreese didn’t think that was enough, because of Silver not being 100% like how he was in Karate Kid 3. And John Kreese could see that Terry Silver was essentially doing what Johnny Lawrence was doing with Cobra Kai, which is learning from past mistakes and changing for the better. As a result, Kreese harshly threatens Silver to be as loyal as he was in Karate Kid 3. And thus, all the good that was left in Terry Silver was squandered. Definitely John Kreese got what he deserved at the end of season 4.
Johnny proves he's the best fighter right here, Danny got beat by the pressure points. Kreese got took out by the pressure points, Johnny got pressure pointed and broke the attack and got the point.
This shows Jonny is stronger than Kreese. Danny barely learned it and hasn't fully mastered it. Chosen has never stopped the grind for decades. So him and Jonny remain equal with Chozen being at the top
My headcanon is that Johnny drank so much over the years that he just has more experience with not having full control over his body. While Daniel and Kreese were dumbstruck by what was going on, Johnny's thought process was something like, "Oh shit, I can't move my arm. Fuck it, what still works? I'll hit him with that."
It literally doesn't show this at all. Johnny was using the same technique Daniel used on him during their tournament fight to take him down, so they both know this.
@@OtakuD50 yeah could be. He does train his students to fight with disadvantages like that though. Like I remember a scene where he was training Devin and she had one arm tied down. And another scene where he made a kid fight with sand in his eye or something so he couldn’t see 😂
Something to note, Daniel was primed to back down from the match and was reconsidering his demand done while semi-drunk/heat of the moment, but what caused Daniel to double down on his stubbornness in this episode, was when he noticed Sam talking back to him and acting like Johnny. It was a combination of both his fear of Silver and his over-protectiveness of Sam that got his head up his own butt.
9:08 Johnny wouldn't do anything unless Daniel set him off, which he did with "I need to take over the training" comment. Daniel knew that's set him off. I blame this 90% on Daniel 5% on Johnny and 5% on alcohol. Edit: my proof: Just before the fight, he asked Daniel, "can't you consider that you can be even a little bit wrong?" If at any point Daniel said, let's work together, Johnny would have dropped it
The biggest problem with Daniel is that he doesn't think that it's "his way" he thinks it's the "Miyagi way", and to him, even considering Mr. Miyagi's way might not necessarily be the best for every situation is some sort of disrespect to his legacy, so that completly blinds Danny's judgment.
@@MikaelLima2210 But we've seen Daniel teaching his way and passing it off as the "Miyagi way." Like what Miguel did, is something Miyagi would never ever have approved of.
@@indianspartan76 but my point is: from his perspective that's what he is doing. He doesn't always realizes when he fails, and lets his emotions take control often. That's why he continues to apologize to Miyagi constantly. But if anything, that seems to be something that forces him to be more strict in his narrow view than anything else.
Basically, Daniel and Johnny went all Street Fighter. Oddly enough, that's the thing about street fights: the streets always win. Hawk may have thought it was awesome to have them duel, but it was the complete opposite of what Miguel and Sam wanted. They were only there as referees so that their mentors don't tear each other apart… again. Neither Daniel nor Johnny is completely right or wrong. On Johnny's side, he's right about one thing: Miyagi-Do karate helped Daniel back in the 80's, but the modern times are a whole new ball game. At the same time though, brute force alone doesn't get very far. On Daniel's side, he's trying to prevent another injury or lockup. However, he's once again letting the fears from his past dominate him. Also, as much as I hate to admit it, I feel like he was really fighting dirty this time. He got desperate to the point where he felt compelled to use the pressure point technique. That move is solely for life-threatening emergencies, and fighting your long-time rival in a match for teaching rights doesn't count. Daniel could have just said no to the duel. The real answer was right in front of them, but he and Johnny are looking at their students like they don't know any better and they're not taking their ideas into account. Yet they don't realize how the disbandment is impacting the group. Daniel and Johnny aren't the ones competing, their students are. They're the ones benefiting from both styles, and they want to unlock their full potential.
Daniel’s problem is the inability to get over the past. His anger continuously drives his decisions. Which is funny because season 1 was Johnny still feeling the effects of his childhood
I saw it as both Daniel and Johnny being right and wrong. Daniel fears about Terry Silver is justified as he still affected by what Silver put him through. He was okay combining both their styles until he saw Silver and that changed everything for him. He fears turning away from Mr. Miyagi's teachings will have negative results like it did in Karate Kid part 3 when he turned away from it and started embracing Cobra Kai's ways and he's letting those fears get in the way. He was right that getting payback on the Cobra Kais will make matters worse. Johnny was wrong too insisting that the winner of rematch should take over all the teachings and he didn't listen to Miguel who just wants everybody to work together, plus I think he's allowing his jealousy over Miguel and Daniel's bond get to him as well. Johnny was right that Daniel's way isn't the only way and that Daniel can't see that he's wrong. Both of them can be so stubborn at times and need to get over themselves. The ones that really lose out of all of this are the kids.
Lol. Yea. But there is cultures within the US since we have so much diversity. So to us specifically…yes that’s fancy. Sparkling water in general is fancy much less Perrier which I don’t think i ever had before
I still can't condemn Daniel for wanting to stay in Miyagi style, even though I was also angry with him this season, for not accepting changes. Other that Johnny (who I love) he genuinely thinks about the kids and since he still remembers the pain and anger Silver has put him into in Kid 3, he does not want his students to experience that, also still hanging onto Miyagi Style, which is defense "only" does show how much he valued Mr. Miyagi. Johnnys intention was always more like proving himself, also showing Daniel he's not a loser, I mean I really think he cares for his students, but it's also more about wanting to win at all costs. His teaching style is more pain vs pain (it was perfectly shown in 4x1), in other words experiencing pain is what you have to do when fighting. Even though he's an Eagle Fang now, it's the same Cobra Kai teaching that comes from Kreese and Silver, with that one "mercy" change. They are both in fact the same, not accepting the other style of fighting at all, yet slowly learning the benefits that come from that. You are always better with defence, even at sports, unless your ego needs points. Cobra Kai is offence vs offence, so having two fighters results in best offence winner, yet they can also hurt themselves very badly like that, while defence blocks this and protects yourself. That's also what the real karate is (protection, not agression). But ofcouse now, when Cobra Kai is learning both offence and Miyagi defence, Miyagis have to step up (but they don't know this yet).
3:10 I don't know according to Ali last season, Daniel got jealous of Ali's friendship with another guy later on after Karate Kid, and it's the reason or one of that they broke up.
