Thank you. This was so clear. Followed every step exactly and got the same effect as you. So nice to see someone narrate the steps instead of annoying music with no narration. Thanks again.
just wanted to say that a year or so later that this tut is still a huge help to me. i've made several buttons, headers etc. in various sizes & shapes. i've even followed this using Ps & Illustrator. thanx again so much for making such a great & useful tut! also, it's great to see that you're still sharing your knowledge! hope all's well w/you! ~ Kara
i found this tut quite a while ago but i came back for a refresher. i can't thank you enough for this awesome tut!! i have used this button for many projects!! i made a header & a tap to call button for my mobile website and a border for my partners FB page and many other things!! you're a GREAT teacher & i will always appreciate you and your dedication to helping others!! THANKS AGAIN!!
That was one of the best youtube tutorials that i have ever seen. You left nothing to chance - all bases were covered. From a newbie perspective it could NOT have been better. Thanks, Mike
So well done! As a very recent beginner to Inkscape, there are so many tutorials that I've watched. Most are very good; the ones without narration I cannot follow...there is so much to Inkscape's learning curve that I have yet to learn. Regrettably, many of the tutorials that ARE narrated, they talk and move the cursor so quickly, that it is very difficult to follow the instructions. This is NOT the case with your tutorial, for which I am so very grateful! Merci Beaucoup!
You are awesome at making tutorials as you cover the whole build very well and your cursor doesn't jump all over the screen making it easy to follow where you are going while telling us where you are going Thanks for the tons of help in our getting to learn how to use this awesome program.
I have had Inkscape on my computer for 6 months. I have tried to figure it out on my own but I have little familiarity with these UI's You have Made it look easy without talking down to your audience. I have watched two of your videos so far and I am a new subscriber. I will be watching all of your tut's on Inkscape. ....I have always wanted to learn about CSS too..... You sir. are my new Hero.
Your tutorials are superb. I tried learning from Inkscape's built-in tutorial, which is ok as far as it goes, but it tells you what the features are, whereas you show people how to use the features to achieve particular results. I've lost count of the number of times I've used the technique of taking a rectangle and converting it to a path to adjust it since I saw you explain it. Having the 'here's one I made earlier' copy showing throughout is really helpful too - then it's easier to understand how the individual steps lead to the result. Many thanks!
So very helpful! I was knocking myself out trying to make the perfect multicolor gradients to get a perfect look for some objects I was creating. After seeing this I abandoned that approach and went to the duplication method. So much easier. After spending days of trying to get something usable with multicolor gradients I had no success. Watching this video and duplicating the lesson took maybe 20 minutes. 30 minutes after that I had a usable object I had been trying to create for days with no success.
Great tutorial. I have to admit that this was one of the best tutorials that I have watched. Most of the ones I have looked into were not videos but just blogs. Nice, simple and to the point. I tried to use inkscape on my own at first and that didn't go so well, I understand a bit more about it now!
Thank you for explaining in such a nice and easy way! I wish tutorials were always taught like that! You are a wonderful teacher. Maria Alice, from Rio, Brazil.
awesome!!! thank you very much. I'm working on my thesis and I'm creating a magazine. Your tutorial was tremendously useful... I really apreciate what you've done. I'm from Ecuador, South America... PD. Sorry, my english isn't so well.
Great Video!! Would love to see a second video on how to make this button look like it is pressed. So there would be two buttons, one un-pressed (this video) and one pressed. I am learning how to make buttons so I can use them for custom remote controls. There are two states to the buttons. Thank you again for making these great video, you are a very good teacher.
inkscape will always open with your tools set to the last way you used them. ie: if you drew a square w/rounded corners then that tool will open set to rounded corners. if this is happening simply select the square/rectangle tool in the tools panel and then in the bar just above the canvas there's an icon that is last it looks like a sharp corner ~ just click on that OR you can just pull the circle in the upper right back up.
hi Karl ~ sorry i didn't see your message until now. to round the corners of a square or rectangle you can do one of two things: 1. draw out your shape & click on the Circle in the Upper Right Corner > pull it down. 2. Or, you can go to the bar just above the canvas where you can type in the Height & Width and then the Rx is where you can type in the Horizontal radius for Rounded Corners and the Ry is where you can type in the Vertical radius of the Rounded Corners.
Good vid. I actually got it all to work. I'm trying to learn Inkscape and Blender. It's tough! Especially Blender. If you get the chance make some more videos with Blender 2.8, 2.83, and maybe even some recent ones based on the new Inkscape. Thanks.
ps. make sure the Shape tool is selected in the tools panel to set the Rounded Corners. if you want to reset your rounded square/rectangle to sharp corners you can click on the icon that's last on the bar (when shape tool is selected) just above the canvas. when you hover over it should say: Make Sharp Corners.
Thank you for an other awesome tutorial!! I have a request ... any chance you would make some tutorials that simply go over each tool, action, option, aspect of Inkscape? e.g. what each tool can do, why layers are used in a particular order, how path tools affect particular actions and so forth? Thank you again!!
I've learned sooo much from your clear, concise explanations. Thank you, I wish you had videos on everything! I encountered one, small problem, though. After making that upper 'reflection' at approx. 6:00 in video, mine has a very narrow black border around it. It's not the end of the world, but it would be better without, like yours. What did I screw up? Thanks again.
Im new to inkscape and uninstalled Photoshop because it was a Pirate copy, untill I can affored it, as I want to honour God. I just subscribed to your channel
vERY COOL BROTHER...!!! VERY COOL... Now that's how you do it people...!! Easy to understand and follow, with a great result. I'm only learning to design stuff on inkscape.. Love the short cuts etc..ALT-CTRL-SHIFT. O- for Orsum...lol. Thanks buddy.. Legend...!!
ps. i just noticed that i'm getting a bleed of about 5px around the entire button & was wondering if you could teach us how to get rid of it. i've tried to erase but that didn't work. i assume it must have something to do with masking but i've no idea how to go about it. would really appreciate your time. :)
@Trectar Where he puts the radial gradient on the button, just use a bit more black than he used in the example. That way your final product should look more like his original model :)
Thank you. This was so clear. Followed every step exactly and got the same effect as you. So nice to see someone narrate the steps instead of annoying music with no narration. Thanks again.
I never comment RUclips, but I felt compelled to tell you what a great service you are providing. Sincerely, thank you and great job!
Very clear instructions. I was surprised how simple it was to make something that looked so good. Thanks for sharing this great tutorial!

Your tutorials are excellent. The speeds are perfect such that I can draw at the exact same time you are explaining it. Thanks!!
Thank you so much. You are a great teacher. I like how you not only "show how to" but you also give explanations throughout your videos.
man, you're world champ for the tuts, you should be the official tutorial dude in the whole galaxy, really... you are just the best, thank you
