I think you’re right. I imagine it’s due to the group having members who all write songs, either separately or in combination. It gives a huge stylistic range to their music, and most listeners will find something to enjoy. It’s possibly what has given them their staying power when so many relationship problems have threatened to tear them apart.
They have been together so many decades now, 50 years if you can believe it, that they have the breadth and scope of time to their music. Enough time to evolve and recreate and reimagine their sound and grow and change, yet they continued to make incredible music. Not many artists can say that or have done that.
