this means nothing to me. A personal test by yourself would be useful or someone else who knows how to check properly.

the people who would know how to test this are hackers or people who work in advanced cybersecurity jobs making 300k a year. im just a youtuber, so im not going to install a tiny bit of malware and act like thats a sufficient test

@@TomSparkReviews That's the point, as that is dangerous to speak about X thing when it comes to PC security when you don't have the training - kudos to you for admitting that though. Furthermore, you spoke about Avira in the video, viewing it as a good point of comparison. It's not, because of shady practices and issues with system stability (i.e. system locking up, files not uninstalling etc.).
The only AVs I would trust if I were to install a new one would either be Eset, Avast, F-Secure or Bitdefender. Also, you may not have realized, but Surfshark does NOT provide a firewall, which is why other providers' price point would be higher. That said, where I live (I am not American), I would pay $300+ every year after the initial discount... Which is insane. I don't know why the prices are wildly different than the US.
BUT, Surfshark does seem to have nifty features when it comes to privacy, so I can definitely see the appeal. As for actual detection rate, it seems that different labs are all over the place, from 90% to 95% to 98%. A good AV will have at least 98% across the board. Anything lower is risky. Because it doesn't seem to block specific malware in some instances (i.e. 90% vs 10%), that's not a good sign.
Personally, I would suggest using Sophos Home Premium at this point if you're looking for a great AV (with no firewall) - with a low price point. With this one, you could use Window's own firewall, as this AV doesn't come with one.

Tom, how does it compared to Malwarebytes? Should I shift to Surfshark VPN?

I would say at the end of the day, almost all the AV do the same thing. IT really depends on what pricing terms you can get, what packaged deals you want, etc. This one is particularly good if you have Surfshark or Incogni

@@TomSparkReviews but still tom, does surfshark provides the same protection from ransomwares as provided by Standalone Malwarebytes?
I got your point but still I think they are giving not a complete antivirus protection. What's your opinion on this?

It's using avira sdk which is one of the good antivirus scanners. i think its competitive. @@dhruvsingal8857
