- Whats up Gays and Gals!? Welcome or welcome back to my channel! Today I am watching a film that was recommended to me after my reaction to Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood film. I have seen a few western movies over the years but none of the will ever amount to a Clint Eastwood western in my opinion. He is the ultimate badass when it comes to a good old time action movies. He definitely sets the tone when it when comes to tobacco spitting, gun slinging, kicking axx and taking names. You will see in my reaction how much fun I had while watching this movie

The scene between Ten bears and Josie is the most beautiful representation of live and live that has ever been put to film.
"No paper can hold the iron... "💪
"I aint offering ya nothing different, only the chance to prove that men can live together without butchering one another!" 💘
"You get those holes leaking and I'll whomp you with a knotted plowline!" 😂🤣😂🤣
"Hows it work on stains?" 🤣😂🤣
The war between Kansas and Missouri didnt end in 1865 ... things that are why :(
"It is a shame that governments are chiefed by the double-tongues."
Buzzard's gotta eat, same as the worm.
yeah, but if you analyze it, Ten Bears statement is pure bullshit. "It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues."... uhm... Ten Bears... you ARE your people's government their chief... so you must be double-tongued (well, he's Comanche, so... yeah).
@@Hiraghm That doesn't fit the definition of analysis.
"Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms." It don't get any better then this.
“He ain’t a hard man 2 find; he leaves dead men wherever he goes.......” Now DAS COLD BLOODED! 💯🤙🏽😎
This Outlaw Josey Wales has some of the best quotable lines anywhere! "I didn't surrender but they took my horse and made him surrender." ♥
He'll have to run for it now and hellll is were he's heaaded..... " "He'll be waiting for us their senator" my favorite one
My Uncle's quoted it daily. No exaggeration. "Were gonna go on up to Kansas and set things right." And many more
Bounty hunter: a mans got to do something for a living. Josey Wales: dying ain't much of a living boy.
@@jameshalljedidrivertrainer7207 that’s the one! That’s what I came here to say.
Hell is coming to breakfast little lady. Now spit,,,
Although this movie is fictional, the history behind the film is very real. ‘Bloody’ Bill Anderson (who ride up after Josey’s family had been murdered) was a very real person. The ferry man also mentions ‘Bill Quantrill’ of Qusbtrill’s raiders, also very real (Jesse and Frank James fought in that outfit). The border wars between Kansas and Missouri leading up to the war were pure acts of terrorism, women and children were slaughtered. I’m this movie Josey is a Confederate Raider and at the end of the war they were not afforded the same rights as regular Confederate troops (even the Confederacy did not recognize the raider groups as legitimate). So Fletcher isn’t trying to purposely betray them, the war is over, he has just taken a deal to bring them in to keep them from being hung or shot as raiders. The Senator double crossed Fletcher so his judgment may have been bad, and he may have taken some hold to convince a group considered by both sides as outlaws that it was safe to surrender, but he wasn’t in on tge plan to kill them. The ‘Red Legs’ were also very real and they too were murderers but with better uniforms, and more importantly their side won, so they weren’t held accountable.
One last thing - one of the greatest westerns of all time is ‘True Grit’, there is a scene in it where John Wayne’s character ‘Rooster Cogburn’ who like Josey Wales was a Missouri Raider during the war, has an argument with another Ex-Confederate who thinks they were an outlaw group and illegitimate.
to quote Malcolm Reynolds: "May have been the _losing_ side... still not convinced it was the wrong one."
Yeah the 'correct' side don't always win.
Missouri Raiders and Kansas Raiders were murderers - there was no ‘correct’ side, These were horrific attempts to influence political policy and vilify the other side - kind of like right now. As for the war in general - a lot is misunderstood about the motives and intentions of each side but the outcome was in the best interest of all (eventually).
Kind of puts Josey Wales on the wrong side though. The Border Wars between 1855-1859 were all about slavery, and the establishment of the new Kansas Territory. This means Josey was pro-slavery, and since Missouri was totally a Union state as of 1961, the film isn't so much about Josey and his association with being a COnfederate raider, but more of vengeance for the loss of his wife and son.
@@jeffburnham6611 Josey was a subsistence farmer just trying to support his family, nothing in the film says whether or not he supported slavery, he rode for vengeance.
For my money, this is Clint Eastwood's masterpiece western over "Unforgiven."
It's so much more than just a western though being set at the end of the war it's kind of half war movie
Pale rider, Josey Wales, Unforgiven. Any order you want. Plus the dollar trilogy. Eastwood is the goodfather of western, definitely. Imho, ahead of Ford.
No argument from me on that one...
My fave Clint western............ High Plains Drifter
@@annaallen6335 thats a damn good one
Movie from my childhood. “Dying ain’t much of a living boy.” To this day is one of my favorite lines ever.
That, and "Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?"
@@matta5498 absolutely! It was even better explaining how he was able to scoop each target out first. “That one had wild eyes” even as a kid that kind of observation has helped me.
"Buzzards gotta eat same as worms".
"I didn't surrender. But they took my horse and made him surrender. Probably got him pulling a wagon up in Kansas."
Damn right my friend.
About Fletcher, he was paid by the senator to bring his men in to surrender. He didn't know about the betrayal.
any movie with Chief Dan George is worth watching someone react to. he's great in Little Big Man with Dustin Hoffman.
Little Big Man is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time, full stop. Chief Dan George was absolutely fantastic in that movie. "I had a white wife once, tell me grandson, is yours pleasant when you mount her?" Funniest shit in the world dude.
@@kylerobb8066 Little Big Man is on no one's radar. Too bad.
@@jasonscottjenkins I know, it is a shame. The same can be said about a lot of older movies that are far greater than anything they put out nowadays. There's not enough explosions and gunfights and half naked women in them and you might have to actually sit down and listen to the characters and get invested in the story and all that other "boring" stuff.
@@kylerobb8066 "My new snake wife cooks dog very well. The problem with snake women though, is they like to copulate with horses. She says she doesn't, that's why I call her, 'Doesn't Like Horses'. But, of course, she's lying."
@@jasonscottjenkins My dad recently got it on blu-ray and gave me a shot as he thought I'd like it. He was right, great movie.
Excellent choice. This movie has been called the greatest Western ever made. "Dying ain't hard for men like you and me, it's living that's hard."
You wanna see another bad ass Clint Eastwood role then watch "Heartbreak Ridge" (1986).
I love that movie, bt i cant stand the forced comedy songs from the guitar dude, it sucks so bad.
Awesome! One of the greatest Westerns ever made, period, and one of Clint Eastwood's best films. One of the best lines ever, "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining!" Love it! Chief Dan George, the old Native American guy, is a legend in his own right. Great, fun reaction to watch as always, Devin. Can't wait to see what you watch next!
To me this is the greatest western ever.
So true !
"Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle 'Dixie'?" Love it.
Thanks for reacting to one of my all-time favourite westerns.
"How's it for stains?"
Always liked that one.
He's an easy man to track. He leaves dead people wherever he goes.😂 Everyone in this movie has great lines. One of my favorite movies if all time.
For me, this movie and High Plains Drifter were his two best western films. You may have others who like The Good the Bad and the Ugly or Unforgiven, but I think Josey Wales and High Plains were really the most entertaining or thought-provoking. Lone Rider's ending was cool, but the story was...eh.
Definitely!
You mean Pale Rider?
Hang 'em high is another good one.
Need to watch “ Lonesome Dove” won’t be disappointed it’s long though but it’s the dope
He would love Gus
Lonesome Dove is a must watch!
I been trying to get someone to react to Lonesome Dove for over a year. They all know it just won't do well with the "algorithm"... so they never do it.
hell of a vision
Oh damn my man reacting to my fave western. There's so much in this movie that's absolute gold. The conversation between Josie and Ten Bears is legit beautiful.
Will Sampson was such a fantastic actor. Loved him as the Chief in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest too.
@@RunDub Bruh one flew overthe cookoos nest hit me. Ive actually spent time in a "mental health faciliy" and its just as bad as in the movie.
"White man been sneaking up on me for years." Chief Dan George was great in this movie!
"Looks like we can't trust the white man."
What's so great about that quote
“Gran Torino” & “The Mule” ; Clint STILL bad ass as a senior citizen! 💯🤙🏽😎
I LOVE Gran Torino. His other actors weren't believable and read their lines really stilted, but i didn't care. He carried it.
no one has ever reacted to gran torino as i know. it would be amazing.
I don't know why I've fallen into the rabbit hole of movie reactions. But something about these videos is like I'm watching good films with a good friend. Thanks Devin
The movie which made me actually feel sorry for damned rebel Confederates, when I'm a verified Union boy . . . Nobody deserves to be done wrong like those boys with that Gatling gun . . .
We all died a little in that damn war.
When it comes to the Kansas-Missouri issue, you've got a lot of scum on both sides. Classic example of how once the pain starts, more people get drawn into it and cease to care about anything but revenge.
When the University of Missouri hired a new men's basketball head coach around 2011 or 2012, he asked if someone could explain the rivalry between Missouri and the Kansas Jayhawks. They gave him a copy of this movie.
that indian is my favorite character.... he's hilarious
One of my Favorite Eastwood westerns was Two Mules for Sister Sarah. Its not the greatest western, but its entertaining as hell, with good story and plot twists.
It is a fun one
"We need to bury these men"
"I don't mind shooting them for you sister but I will be damned if I am going to sweat over them"
@@bluebird3281 ****spiiiittt**** Buzzards gotta eat
One of my favorites too. And Warren Beattys sister was actually pretty hot in that one!
Next to The Good, Bad and Ugly, this is the greatest western ever imo.👍🔥
I've always like Clint's older westerns. I've seen Josey Wales many times, but after watching this reaction with Devin. Josey was John Wick in a past life. ;)
Missourians and Kansans still dislike each other to this day. Though it’s turned into a college rivalry, but the animosity started with this.
This is one of the best films ever made. The dialogue scene with Ten Bears is absolutely incredible. This movie is a 10/10 in my book.
Fletcher was a conflicted character. He negotiated in good faith (and compensation) to bring the guerilla fighters in under an agreement of fair treatment. When the men were double-crossed and murdered, Fletcher knew Josey would hold him accountable. In their final meeting, the two warriors who had fought and sacrificed together put the war behind them.
Spot on analysis. Every character in this movie is a scene stealer with the exception of the guy that played Terrell. Not that he wasn't a good actor, he just didn't get any good lines or scenes.
"I don't believe no 5 pistolaros could do in Josie Wales".
In addition, he felt Josie had to die as a witness to the massacre because if word got out it may stop other irregulars from surrendering as they would feel they have no choice but to fight to the death and the killing will just go on.
High Plains Drifter is another great Eastwood western.
This is one of the best ever
'High Plains Drifter', 'Pale Rider'
Most people think he's riding away at the end, but he's not. He's riding back the the ranch. The book the movie is based on shows this.
Chief Dan George also did a movie in the 60s with Dustin Hoffman called "Little Big Man."
long forgotten but a great movie
One of Eastwood's best.
The character of Josey Wales was based on the (in)famous Missouri gunfighter Bill Wilson. A nod is given in that last scene.
If you are looking for a change of pace for Clint Eastwood movies, Kelly’s Heroes is superb.👍
And that's a who's who of actors in that movie. I love Oddball.
@@eddavis9704 "There you go with them negative waves!"
@@tuffguy0134 I've been having positive thoughts about that bridge the entire time.
Noooooooo!
2:32 i dont think it can be said better than that "once you piss him off... it's a wrap"
So glad you finally watched this movie, it's so good. If you want to see Clint Eastwood's best western from the 1980s check out the movie "pale rider "
I've been waiting for someone to react to this movie.
YES... I haven't even watched it yet... just excited someone has done a reaction to this CLASSIC. Now... LONESOME DOVE... you will NOT be disappointed.
Jerry Skinner: The True Story Of Lonesome Dove
Not a polished production but genuinely interesting for Dove Lovers.
This is my All Time favorite movie. I still recommend The Quick and The Dead starring Russel Crowe, as another good shoot'em up movie.
How bout the remake of True Grit
@@markyates1116 Nope. The original True Grit with nJohn Wayne first.
oneof the best westerns ever. Second only to "Unforgiven." another Eastwood flick.
The movie “ Billy Jack” was a really good with a Hero type like Josie. You’ll love it.
Cheif Dan George was a national treasure. RIP Elder one... you were awesome.
I remember my dad used to watch this movie all the time when I was little. He had all the old Clint Eastwood westerns on DVD. Unfortunately Josey Wales, and For a Few Dollars More got lost when we moved. I was so happy when I saw it on Netflix, one of my favorite westerns of all time.
You gotta watch “Once Upon A Time In The West”
The BEST way to show the southern perspective isn't to glorify the Confederacy (Gods and Generals) but to have you empathize with their point of view
I see you saw the Atun-Shei video as well.
@@BlackIce3190 yeah I used to love GaG but the video is really good at explaining the inaccuracies I never knew.
Woodrow, aside from Open Range this is my favorite.
thats a good'n too. i've been on a duke kick lately. Just watched 4 of his westerns over the weekend. Sons of Katie Elder is a great one too!
@@bugvswindshield The Cowboys is one of his best.
Ooooh! I had forgotten Open Range. What a great film!
From what I read that sort of thing happened a lot even before the Civil War. Throughout the 1850s and the Civil War guerrillas would burn, loot, rape, pillage and murder anything in sight. It was a horrible time and it explains the rivalry between Kansas and Missouri.
One of my dad's faves. I must have watched this 1000 times when I was a kid.
Baddest western ever. All time favyfeom my childhood
Good choice Devin G. The last scene always gets me. I second High Plains Drifter. Another great one.
Even with "Unforgiven" I still think that this is the best of all the Clint Eastwood movies. My favorite three westerns, (and in no particular order), are Unforgiven, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and The Outlaw Josey Wales.
watch Kelly's Heroes
I keep telling reactors to check this one out. Oddball alone is worth the time lol.
The thing what he got was true...how conflicted things were then. Brother against brother...we were a young nation...many of the Westerner territories were wild. I mean...Oklahoma only became a state in 1910s. This was 40 some years before. War was very unrestricted.
You need to watch The Searchers 1956. It stars John Wayne, Ward Bond and Jeffery Hunter
Great commentary and reaction. It’s kinda funny I’m a Gen Z and growing up I didn’t have all what we got now with all these streaming services or even internet, but my dad had a few movies on dvd and that happens to be one of them😅. I was between 6-8 when I first watched it and man I was obsessed with that movie. I would try to dress up like Josey and act as if I was him . It was good times.😂
Bro. You might just be our hope for the future.
@@marleyjr00 I hope so😅
Another Eastwood movie"Gran Torino"
The untold, true story of the union and how they actually behaved during the Civil war. But then the history is written by the victors, not likely they are going to tell the truth and make themselves look like the savages they were. If you want to watch another movie in this vain, watch "Cold Mountain".
Devin you gotta check out Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry series. He plays a badass San Francisco detective, with a big 44 magnum revolver. You'll like those movies, trust me.
Man I've been waiting for someone to react to this for awhile. That last scene I think is one of the best in the business. Cheers.
the "Outlaw Josey Wales" was the last film that I saw at our local Fox Theatre in Riverside, California before it was closed in 1976. The Fox Theatre was later renovated and re-opened as a performing arts theatre around 2012 and is a tourist attraction since it was used as a premier facility during the 1930's! As a premier theatre the Fox Theatre was home to films such as 'Gone With the Wind," and the 'Wizard of Oz' in 1939!
The movie is one of my favorites, but the book its based off of has a dark history. The author of the novel was believed for a time to be a half american Indian writer from Texas who sold the movie rights to Clint Eastwood when Clint approached him. Asa Earl Carter the writer of the book was later discovered to be not a half Indian man from Texas but actually a former leader of the KKK and a speech writer for Democrat Governor of Alabama George Wallace. Asa denied any relation to Earl Carter claiming he was just a look a like but it was revealed after his death he was actually Earl Carter. It doesn't diminish the film in anyway because none of the cast or crew knew about Asa's sordid past and Clint went on record saying he made Josey Wales as an anti war film. But it really makes you think why did this man have such a change from being a pro-white segrationist and created this new life for himself as an advocate for Native American rights and a return to spiritual endeavors. People are much more complex than you think I guess.
Hey buddy. would lover to see your reaction on "Open Range". My favorite western of all.
Gunfight at the end of Open Range is just so thrilling. I get excited , like a schoolgirl, soon as costner says, you the one that killed our friend? ,
Check out, Little Big Man 👍
The movie the changed Clint Eastwood from a successful actor into an American Icon is called "Dirty Harry". Do you feel lucky, punk?
"Dyin' ain't much of a livin' boy."
Jose didn't care about dying because he had lost everything. His wife and son. Then as he gets a new family . He is more than willing to die protecting them, rather than lose them and live.. imo it's one of the most realistic western movies ever made.
I always liked this movie because Josie never hurt anyone they took away everything from him.He lost it and took revenge.
Josey wasn't fighting with the south he was fighting for revenge on his family
Both.
Fist full of dollars and also A Few Dollars more is what he needs to watch next, real good shit :)
Have to complete the trilogy with the good the bad and the ugly

He didn't have to tell them Josey Whales was the only one left. They would have never known, but................that wouldn't have been much of a movie would it? This is the best comedy I've ever watched. Chief Dan George to Clint Eastwood. " I notice when you get to disliking somebody they ain't around very long either".
Clint, directing, really brought authenticity to Westerns, and most the movies he has directed. His early days as actor only, were kind of stereotypical polished.
You need to watch High Plains Drifter, Definitely one of Clint's best in my opinion
“Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up, then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is.”
Comanche's were the most feared Indians on the plains.
The US didn't actually beat the Comanche Nation in battle. What happened was a program of killing every bison, cow, or horse that could be found in West Texas. What happened was destroying the infrastructure that made the Comanches so fearsome.
@@Carandini Agreed. The only ones happier than US settlers with their defeat, were the Apache, who the Comanche were in the process of destroying.
@@Carandini Have you ever watched "Lonesome Dove" (book, and famous tv seris)? The two main characters, two bad ass ex-Texas rangers, hold the Comanche in great respect. Another character says something like, "didn't the Comanche raid with 1,000 warriors?" One of the two old Texas rangers says, "if they ever had 1,000 warriors, they could have burned down Washington D.C., and no one could have stopped them.
This show was pretty intense for me as a 10 year old. Showed me everything isn't black and white always ,and that the world is a confusing place and full of violence.

On a vacation when I was a child on my way to Florida for vacation, my dad took us on a side trip too a civil was battlefield and there were soldiers markers as young as 13 years old on a few markers. A truly tragic time in U.S. history.
You should watch The Mule. Not Clint’s best movie, but it’s good, and I think it has scenes that would lead to good reactions.
"To hell with them fellas.....buzzard's gotta eat, same as a worm".

You can catch a lot of these same actors in "Any Which Way You Can" and "Pale Rider". 2 more Clint Eastwood classics.
Spitting on dog was smart...shows dominance.
I didn't surrender neither. But they took my horse and made him surrender, bet they got him pulling a wagon up in kansas.

Great fucking movie. I think my dad showed it to me when I was like 7. Eastwood is the man!
One of the best depictions of the attitude of some southerners at the time. There's no bullshit lost cause. The hatred wasn't all about slavery but it definitely wasn't about states rights like they started saying after they lost.
