  • Much better than the traditional solder sucker this solenoid operated combined iron / pump can be used one handed. This makes it a lot easier to remove components for repair.

    I just ordered one thanks to this video. These are a LOT cheaper than the vacuum desoldering irons (easily >$200, whereas this one can be found for $30-40) and appear to do just fine for small jobs/hobbyists.
    One thing I noticed, and I read it in the Amazon reviews, is that you actually should keep something nearby (a cup or something, or if you're using a silicone work surface, that works) to drop the sucked solder into. Click the solenoid, then move off the work piece and hold the iron vertical over your "trash cup" and release the solenoid. Otherwise it just shoots a blob of solder back onto the board somewhere. Not a huge deal if you're just salvaging parts, but definitely worth considering if you're say replacing a capacitor or basically want to reuse the board.
    I hope I'll be able to order extra tips and keep mine well maintained, I've struggled with desoldering a lot and I have a feeling this will make all the difference!

      Hi, interesting comment. As you can see in the video my unit does not spit out molten solder when the solenoid is released. When I open the unit to clean it all the solder is contained within. Perhaps this may happen with tips with a larger hole. Good luck with you purchase. Thanks for watching, have a great day!

    One of my favorite means to un solder provides a thrill for the day too. I heat up the solder joint and when the solder is fluid I shoot it with a blast from DUST OFF can. Molten Solder flying mostly in places you really don't wish it too but the parts will just lift right up and out devoid of solder. Also works good for cleaning solder out of Via ways. Yes, I should really buy one of these. LOL Dangerous as hell but does the job like nothing else could or would. Yes I have a old school Solder Sucker.

    That thing is terrible I had one and it never got hot enough to get the solder molten

      Maybe you had a faulty unit? As you can see mine works well. Also adding a little solder flux to the job may help. As always non -leaded solder is more difficult to remove because of its higher melting point. Please consider subscribing if you have not done so already!

      Sorry to hear that. Maybe there is some solder stopping the solenoid from moving? Have you cleaned the chamber out? Otherwise contact your seller. Good luck!

      May i ask you why it is not suitable for motherboard?

    • @envy.hs92
      @envy.hs92 Месяц назад +1

      I guess sufficient temperature with solder could desolder motherboard's THT, Did I get it wrong? even that is all covered by lead-free solder (mixing lead contained solder and flux could drop melting temperature)
