There's a certain amount of time cops can keep you for a traffic stop, it's definitely not an hour, but most civilians don't know that, that's why it's important for us to learn the laws of the state that we live in and visit. They're not expecting us to be informed.

Like she said she didnt want to go through the hassle. If she felt any other way she would of. Even if the cop is in the wrong and is abusing his power as along as is not physical, they have to obey. They Do everything by the book. Cop can let them sit and wait certain amount of time, decent for the stop and make it difficult for them in the process. Then after is all set and done they can file a complaint. Which they have the right to. But the disctrict attorney has to have proof, witnesses, evidence. So it just depends on the energy they have invested into it and willing to wait it out. To see her get justice, she doesn't have the patience or willingness to do it. So she was like just tell him your a cop. To expedite the process and leave.

The thing is, that cop doesn't exist in a vacuum. If he's doing this as openly as he is, that means he's in a force that doesn't report him. That, in turn, means that internal affairs and state agencies sit on their hands when it comes to corrupt forces, which means this problem isn't limited to just one force. If she tries to make a stink about this, it will have to become her entire career. Beyond that, the reason why the badge works is because of cop loyalty. This case would make her famous, attracting the attention of every other corrupt. She would never know peace again. The smartest thing to do if you work in the justice system, besides quitting, is to turn a blind eye to cops. People like her exist. S.W.A.T., season 2, episode 7, "Inheritance". This scene shows Sgt. Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson, driving with his girlfriend, Nia Wells, to a SWAT training seminar in Arizona. The training is for potential SWAT recruits, and to give tips on SWAT tactics (nothing about discrimination). Hondo does eventually meet up with Officer Reid, but there isn't any progress or resolution with Hondo's confrontation with him (with Nia even asking later if Hondo truly thought the conversation would change anything). We never see Officer Reid's character in any other episodes, but this confrontation leads to more racial issues later in the series, and Hondo's growing intolerance of the pervasive racism within the policing community.

The "bald guy" is Sergeant Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson, played by Shemar Moore. The state trooper character that pulls them over is Officer Mike Reid, played by actor Derek Phillips. What OP is referencing is that although this is an episode of "S.W.A.T.", Shemar Moore also played a character in another show called "Criminal Minds". That character was named Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Derek Morgan, who had a colleague named SSA Dr. Spencer Reid (played by Matthew Gray Gubler). OP was merely mentioning the coincidence of Moore having two characters that both interacted with characters named "Reid" (but not the same Reid characters).

Fun fact, on a terry stop (whats happening right now) the cop cannot legally force you to wait up to an hour to get a dog to establish probable cause for a search.
A traffic stop must be performed in a reasonable amount of time. What is reasonable isn’t clear, however its based on how well the Cop can articulate his reason for the stop lasting as long as it did.
Waiting over an hour to get a dog to get probable cause for a search would be ruled as unconstitutional. Know your rights, follow the cops instructions, argue your case in court when they are wrong. NEVER fight a cop.

You know this how? Where was your god/jesus when I nearly died 3 times because of my husband? When catholic aunt said "get down on your knees, apologise for your (my) sins and pray for his soul" because he dropped dead before court! I was taught God made everybody + everything... couldn't return him as not suitable for purpose! Don't say its gods plan..because what god would make something so evil? As a social experiment? Why claim jesus rescues/saves some people but let others suffer horrendously, but that's Lucifers fault...Lucifer being made by and son of your god. Expecting god to punish them after passing? Why not when THEY LIVE, so innocents do not suffer? Being threatened by god, according to the man written bible.. of purgatory and hell, when NOBODY is perfect!😢 ?

My Mother is a former Cop and a retired Army Sgt, she put Army Decals on my Car and Benevolent Police Officer Decals on the back and I never have any problems. Oh I get stopped from time to time, but I usually get let go within 5 min.
I know it sounds unfair, because I am the son of a former cop, but I have a degree in Sociology and one of the major paradigms we study is Symbolic Interactionism, whereby societies create Symbols and our interaction with those symbols helps society function together better and maintain social cohesion - some symbols are like money, others are like religious crosses, stop signs, red lights, and military and police badges.
When you understand those symbols, you can hack the system and reduce problems like these awkward stops whether you are Black or not! Whether he wanted to or not, he still had to flash that badge to get out of this stop, because of symbolic interactionism.
I wish more of our people knew this, because it would save more lives, because I am a 45yr old black man that has never been arrested or harassed by a cop in his entire life.
