Thanks for this! I love the idea of doing small batches when I use a squash rather than a whole sheet pan in the oven which I tend to nibble and then never finish off.
That popcorn seasoning will go well with the hand crank popcorn popper that I'm going to find soon. loved this vid. I'm set going to try this recipe.ty
I've never seen these fried like this but now I know it will be a family favorite!! Thanks for putting all those links under your vid. You're going to be really happy one day (after I get moved and unpacked) to discover I had myself a nice little shopping spree for these things!! But the one thing I wish I knew but you don't list, is how to get pretty dishware like the plate you had the seeds on before you fried them...
O! I am not sure why I forget that! We got those on Amazon too! Let me find that link and start posting it under such videos. Here they are: amzn.to/2oeYOZL :D
Rain Country Homestead Dear Miss Mighty Mo, as the Connoisseur of Covetousness, I have to assure you that if you go to 0.59 in the vid, you'll see the plate I am pining for. It's not the ones in the link you so kindly provided. I don't like to be the Princess and the Pea about this, but if I don't, who will?? Would you kindly take another "run at the hill" of placating your fussy sub? Thank you!
Will have to try this. We love pumpkin and sunflower seeds. I don't join things that offer 15 or 10 percent off of purchase. I tend to send more money trying to get the discount ,then I would buying the one item I want out right.
This way works for me cutting sideways. Chuckle! You make me giggle which works better with sore ribs. I do this with my grains as well. After soaking rice etc, I will toast before cooking.
You toast your rice, then cook it? That sounds really good! There is a special dish I make where I brown rice and small pasta pieces in butter then cook it. I have a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/jbMcmmKMKYk/видео.html
Sounds yummy! Will have to try that one. We just love the nutty flavour produced by the rice after soaking and then toasting. Sounds like we have more common ground. And I have signed up for an advanced vinegar/kimbucha class to answer my questions about mother/scobies.
Learn something new when I watch you! Never knew you could eat any other seeds but pumpkin. Baking was the way I had learned to prepare pumpkin seeds ,I am so ready to try this!
I usually bake the pumpkin seeds on top the wood stove, but since I am just doing a small amount at a time when using the spaghetti squash, I thought it would be easiest to just try using a small cast iron skillet :)
Hey there, friend! Guess what i am preserving this week! Lol loved how to do my seeds! I have to comment..i bought some VERY refined coconut oil when we went on a cruise in the Caribbean..and for some reason it tastes like soap to me...i have been using it in my body products. The next year i got some from a different country when i traveled..both all natural all organic fresh pressed. SAME THING. Now i am afraid to get the refined. It is like the chemical cilantro some people have. SO ODD...thoughts?
I have never had any that tasted like soap. I was buying Nutiva for years until their price sky rocketed and now I buy Carrington Farms. Before Nutiva it was Glorybee. None of them tasted like soap, in fact none of them have any flavor
MMmmm!!! THAT looks GOOD!!! The only seeds I have ever "made" at home are pumpkin seeds. I rinsed and then soaked in salted water, then baked until brown & crunchy. I'm DEFinitely going to try your method because ANYthing FRIED always tastes better! LOL! And, honestly ... I have never heard of eating squash seeds! Do you know what nutritional value they have? Also ... do you eat the shells or just the seed inside? Love & prayers
I just watched Doug & Stacy's video, and saw YOU & PATRICK!!! You guys are so cute & FUNNY!!! :-D I always ate the shells of the pumpkin seeds. DEFinitely NOT tossing the seeds to ANYthing anymore! LOL
Looks delicious! Fully expected to see you sprinkle cayenne pepper on them. Heidi, have you ever heard that cayenne & paprika keeps better in the fridge? Can't remember where I heard it. Ordering the coconut oil.
If you did a large batch this way, how would you preserve it? Wouldn't you pretty much have to freeze them? (Since you left the squash on the seeds, and with the oil?)
If the oil is avocado or coconut, it will preserve just fine, along with the squash if it is fully dried, vacuum sealed into jars, I would think freezing might take away the crunchiness but I have never tried it so not sure on that one.
Looks yummy sis!! Would you do me a big fave as share my last video? My wife's first book just came out and I would love to see it do will. Would be a true blessing to both of us. Thanks sis. God Bless.
This video could have been less than 3 minutes and I think more people would watch it... just some constructive criticism. I fast fwd through the entire product endorsement, and coconut oil... Ppl just want to watch how you cooked it. You could actually make this a "short" and get more views.
1). OLD video as can be seen by the date and I have learn to cut things that are fully unnecessary (since this video is so old, I do not remember what all I said) 2) Now, (over 5 years alter) while I do cut out as much nonsense as I can, if I feel something is important or people may appreciate the personal touch because yes, regular followers like to get to know you, I leave it in. I have learned this from experience. 3) I have also learned from experience over the years that it does not matter what I do, there will still be people that complain. If I make it a short video with only the most pertinent information, people complain it was not longer and more in depth. If I add a lot of information. People complain that it is too much. The thing that boggles the mind is that people feel the need to complain about something they get for free in the first place and think that everything I do should be tailored to only what they want or need and no one else
I was just explaining a few things you very likely did not understand. I have had to deal with some of the rudest comments since starting my youtube channel that I have ever had to deal with in my near 56 years and yours did not even make it into that scale. Hopefully you were not the one hurt by me simply clarifying a few things for you
Thank you for your helpful information. Thanks for making this video.
Thanks for this! I love the idea of doing small batches when I use a squash rather than a whole sheet pan in the oven which I tend to nibble and then never finish off.
Yes, it makes it so much easier!
Wow, I didn't think about doing that. Now I'm kicking myself for just throwing out seeds a few days ago.
I do butternut every year and also do not rinse. I season w pink salt, chili powder, garlic and a touch of cinnamon. Yum!
Sounds wonderful!
I will have to try this. Never thought to use my squash seeds.
Yummmm!!!! I will have to try this! I love toasted seeds so this is perfect!
:)
Love and prayers always💛🙏
Neat idea. I'll try this next time we have spaghetti squash.
I shall have to try this the next time I have a spaghetti squash. Or any kind of squash

You are welcome! :D
thanks, looks yummy!

Susan Beaulieu Rain have you ever tried toasted rice as a replacement for coffee? I have heard it is pretty good. They toast it very dark
Interesting, and no, I have never tried that, may have to look into it and try making my own!

I eat the shells too but that is a matter of choice. Just a guess but I would assume they have as much nutritional benefits as pumpkin seed :)

Actually, the popcorn seasoning does have cayenne in it ;)

If you use the seeds to try to grow spaghetti squash will they grow? I was told they will not.
Not once you have toasted them
I am sad I let so many seeds slip away .
Sadly, toasting Spaghetti Squash seeds didn't work for me. They cooked really quickly, and turned out dry and pretty much just hulls.
