Cool remote, but Logitech Harmony still looks more advanced with more usable touch screen and favourite channels for tv box. BTW, can the buttons be programmed with short/long press functions, like on the logitech harmony remote?
I guess it depends on the person. I actually like this one better than the Harmony which I stopped using a while back. You could program your favorite channels into the color buttons on this OR create a "Favorite Channel" remote and then program the number keys on that remote to all correspond to a favorite channel. That's what I like about this - it's so customizable and it's SO quick and easy to switch between any remotes you set up. To answer your question, there is no "long press/short press" differentiation on this. Long pressing a button just continues to send the same IR signal.
The problem with Logitech Harmony is they don't make them anymore. And who knows how long they plan on supporting them now that the entire line is discontinued. Right now i'm looking at replacing my Logitech One and the options are pretty slim or super expensive. Universal MX-450 or one of their higher end remotes might be decent. There is also a kickstarter remote called YIO that looks outstanding. I know the older sofa baton remotes were trash. I haven't tried their new ones so thats why i'm watching reviews.
I'm not sure why you'd want to use a remote like this on your laptop, but I guess if it's part of your entertainment system, perhaps you would. At any rate, this particular remote does not support bluetooth connection. It's an IR only remote. So it wouldn't work with your laptop.
probably will work I tried connecting to my phone because I was curious if will work and it was working just fine I did a test on the VLC player and all media buttons work but is no air mouse so you cud only control media apps or if you have TV app to change channels
Can I program the colored buttons to allow one touch access to different streaming apps?
If your device (TV, BluRay Player, Etc) offers that option, then yes! Those buttons can mimic any signal your device supports.
